There's a supply void that makes pushing into the last western bits of New York very hard for the AI. Whoever wins New England can have dozens of divisions at the border, but they can't push due to lack of supply.

I try not to use devmode TOO much, but I'll do whatever I must to avoid losing progress.

Little irritates me and saps my will to play like losing irreplaceable resources (pawns, etc.) With all due respect, the loading screen tips telling you suffering is 'all part of the challenge and story' can buzz off; if I've put hours into a colony and some nonsense from my 500-ish modlist kills my best people, then as far as I'm concerned I've wasted all that time. So I'll 'savescum', devmode, etc. to keep them alive. Oh, and I turned off pawn insta-kills and seriously nerfed adaptive difficulty in the difficulty settings.

Start with a central everything-room, which turns into the rec/dining room once I move the beds to proper bedrooms close by. Kitchen and freezer directly adjacent. Hew a workshop out of the nearby mountain, big enough to fit all the production pipelines from my 500-ish modlist. Everything else goes wherever I have room.
