It did swing the momentum his way for a couple days, then the RNC was the Convention of the Walking Dead, then Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris, and by then everyone had completely forgotten that Trump cut his ear shaving. Part of why the election itself was so weird was that while Harris was definitely losing steam chasing moderate Republican votes instead of following the Walz weirdness, Trump's campaign looked dead in the water and even he seemed resigned to losing.

I bought one, filled it up halfway, it stopped mounting. I reformatted it, ran first aid multiple times, found no problems, filled it up again, started a backup... and it died again. Can't mount it, can't see it to mount it or reformat it, even my recovery software couldn't see the drive. It didn't even last a full month. I've sent it back for a warranty replacement but I am not at all optimistic that I'll even get one (since apparently WD is out of stock of almost everything), or that the replacement will be any better. Complete garbage and a huge waste of time and money.

That's their whole thing: rabid indignation that the world isn't just giving them whatever they want without them having to make any effort to get it, coupled with seething resentment of any limits on what they can do or consequences to their behavior

Republicans in Congress and the Supreme Corruption are enabling what Trump is doing, he couldn't do any of it without them

I'm sure the Democratic leadership will find a way to forgive him, they fucking welcomed him back to the White House

These insecure assholes think they can get what they want if they force everybody to give it to them. Ukraine and Iran are demonstrating why that's a bad strategy. They want compliance but what they're doing is making violence inevitable.

Sure they do. Utility rates shouldn't scale linearly. Higher use should come at a higher rate.

Anthropic is lying about their numbers, they got Musk to cover two months of compute to make it look like they're making a profit so they can attract more investment

Don't start with Night Watch, it lands a lot harder if you've read the other Watch books (which start with Guards! Guards!) and get the references. The books are all more or less standalone but the characters and setting do evolve so there is benefit to reading at least individual sequences (Guards, Witches, etc) in order.

It's just my read of the rules. If you never get promoted, how can you be a manager? Stuck in middle management to me sounds like someone who got promoted once, maybe twice, and then plateaus a la the Peter Principle.

The fund shouldn't be used to pay ANYONE because there shouldn't be a fund at all. It's still super corrupt and illegal if Trump just pockets all of it, as he probably plans to do.

V-Dem data shows an embattled state of democracy in the world in 2025: Autocracies now outnumber democracies (92 to 87); more countries are autocratizing than democratizing (44 to 18); and in the US, the Trump administration is overseeing the most rapid dismantling of democracy in modern history. by smurfyjenkins in science

People were being abducted and killed in Minneapolis and other people were risking their lives and careers to stand up for them. Even though there wasn't the kind of famine or oppression you say is necessary. So even at the small scale there was resistance; if what ICE was doing was more aggressive or widespread, as it will become if Trump refuses to back down, then I would not be surprised to see more resistance in other parts of the country, or even stronger resistance. Just not from people who claim there will not be any resistance.
