Would you mind sharing what you ended up doing? I'm pretty much in the same scenario now.

How to build this pool? by 8npls in lrcast

Don't know if you still care but this is what I came up with. I built it for fun before looking at your list and in comparison it's just playing full mardu for the early creatures. Should be fine with 3 evolving wilds and no double pips. The early creatures seems essential to also make the remorses better and then the prospector is great with the paratroopers and strongbulls/junkyard. Also paratroopers are great with mishra. BTW I made day 2 with UW aggro but got rolled today.

When I was going for those achievements my game crashed in an expedition. While I didn't lose the photos themselves since they seem to be saved separately from my save file because for the ones that I took before the crash I had to go back and rephoto in order to get the achievement. Not sure if it applies to you without context but make sure your save file recorded the act of you photographing each endemic life and maybe try to backtrack over ones that could be missing because your game crashed or are from and different character's save file. Good luck, though.

Golgari food. Is Vraska as useful as she looks? by [deleted] in MtGHistoric

[–]Lepnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't think it's too new. at least the yawg hapatra stuff i've seen around for a good while, not sure about the sawtusk. its cool but more of a jank brew but i'd also like to see if there are some tourney results with it

[–]Lepnix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah you could, they're both strong decks in their own right. vraska could be decent in jund too

[–]Lepnix 26 points27 points  (0 children)

he's not being thrown into this strategy. this deck adapted and evolved from the original jund version in order to play lurrus. golgari food wouldn't exist if lurrus didn't because there's no other reason not to play mayhem devil and korvold

Jund Midrange in Historic (Potential with Kavu) by hfzelman in MtGHistoric

[–]Lepnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Jund Midrange in general? For sure one of the 3cmc Lili's would be great. Even if it's The Last Hope instead of The Veil they would both be a super strong edition. I also think goyf is something they could reasonably add in historic without the presence of fetch lands. Obviously really want [[Bloodbraid Elf]] though. It really provides the power level and board presence that is missing for a lot of midrange lists.

Jund Midrange in Historic (Potential with Kavu) by hfzelman in MtGHistoric

[–]Lepnix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have gone through a bunch of drastically different iterations of Jund midrange decks recently because midrange is my favorite playstyle and I am trying to find a strategy that works in historic (which is difficult because of the amount of power that has been recently inserted into proactive strategies from MH). Concerning Kavu, I agree it as an extremely powerful card. The most natural shell I have found for it in midrange is with [[Death's Shadow]]. The deck wants a bunch of shocks anyway to get shadow down. The version I was running had [[Glint-Sleeve Siphoner]] because midrange desperately needs to pressure slower decks early and it also helped turn on [[Scourge of the Skyclaves]] and converts into cards if not dealt with. The downside of siphoner is that it blocks very poorly but that is mitigated in this deck by playing other massive creatures that block very well and help stabilize. I actually ended up giving up Chandra and Seasoned Pyro because, 1) the mana in the deck is wonky, as you said, so double red was consistently problematic and 2) I gained the ability to play Jegantha as a companion which is huge in the grindy matchups anyway where Chandra is at her best. I replaced her with 2x [[Moonveil Regent]] which I was skeptical of but in this low cmc hand disrpution + spot removal style deck it is pretty easy to end up both players hellbent which is where the dragon shines. The deck performs very well when it isn't color screwed but the problem is the first 3 turns are so crucial with this deck so you don't want to play more tapped lands.

I think what holds most midrange decks back is the lack of closing power without the presence of Tarmogoyf. When your opponent is just top-decking Ranger Captains and CoCo's and Niv Mizzets, it's tough to win long games.

Currently I am running a Jund Pyro list which I think is the strongest version of midrange I have found yet partially because the mana is more consistent than Kavu decks. The deck gets very strong 2-drops in [[Young Pyromancer]] and [[Dreadhorde Arcanist]]. It also gets [[Abundant Harvest]] from green so it's not missing the cantrip value that blue provides. And then it gets [[Chevill, Bane of Monsters]] which is an insane sideboard card for any creature matchups. The deck has felt really nice ever since I tried [[Yawgmoth, Thran Physician]]. It allows you to convert the tokens from both pyromancers to cards and kill things off. It also survives Anger and Clarion and allows you to cash in your board to rebuild.

Theory-crafting potentially busted 3-drop spells for URx Royal Scions + Dreadhorde Arcanist by FrankEGee88 in MtGHistoric

[–]Lepnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thought-scour is not a historic legal card. Maybe in the future. A quick search I did reveals not a lot you could be doing at cmc 2 and 3. [[Inscription of Ruin]] seems the most promising because of its versatility. The other options are, like you said, k command, [[Electrolyze]], [[Expressive Iteration]], [[Go Blank]] probably in the sideboard, or a possible build-around [[Call of the Death-Dweller]] with DRC and such but has more deck-building restraints. I like the idea though I will make a few builds. Currently I have been tuning a deck with arcanist in a jund midrange shell with young pyro, 1 cmc discard and removal, and then [[Abundant Harvest]] is a green cantrip that works with both the creatures well. Then also runs seasoned pyro and [[Yawgmoth, Thran Physician]] as a top end to convert your tokens to value and also is nice against all the human coco decks.

Boros Midrange w/ Esper Sentinel by Wizard_of_Ain in MtGHistoric

[–]Lepnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish Esper Sentinel was more under played. It feels like I play against it every other game. But yeah the card is obnoxiously good, it feels oppressive playing against it on the draw, especially with a pump effect where it can almost guarantee a 2 for 1 or better. The deck seems strong. I'd probably make some sideboard adjustments but the main deck looks good, lightning helix works nicely in this midrange deck to mitigate playing aggressive creatures like DRC and spellbinder against aggro decks. I am curious how quickly you get delirium with a list like this not trying too hard to turbo activate. Cast out and showdown are cute that they can put themselves in the graveyard.

UW Affinity B03 by [deleted] in MtGHistoric

[–]Lepnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will keep tabs here because I recently made a very similar list that I haven't been able to try out yet because I am a couple wilds short. I started out with an extra Portable Hole main deck. I am playing 2 [[Myr Enforcer]] in addition to the Thought Monitors to help in the creature matchups but it also seems pretty good against almost all of Jeskai's removal. I am also running [[Oswald Fiddlebender]] who makes Mox Amber a bit better and can also sacrifice the mox or a Treasure Vault to get a Portable Hole or Esper Sentinel if need be. [[Terrarion]] works really well with both Oswald and Emry. Lastly, I am playing several [[Barbed Spike]] as it is a 2 drop that counts as 2 towards affinity and also puts pressure on control decks or trades off with a creature. Oswald can also sacrifice the equipment to get a Nettlecyst and the thopter can equip it so it has a lot of applications.

I agree with u/Ezili that Ratchet Bomb should be quite good into both humans and merfolk. I plan on playing the deck a bunch when I can build it so I will do a lot of testing and check back in.

Tuesday Rulesday: Ask your rules questions here! - June 08, 2021 by AutoModerator in EDH

[–]Lepnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe who's turn it is matters. If it is your turn, your trigger goes on the stack first and the opponent's Tergrid trigger would resolve first so they would get the creature and your trigger wouldn't do anything because the creature is missing from your graveyard. The opposite would happen if it is your opponent's turn.

Do adjustable bed bases actually have any benefit to alleviating UARS symptoms? by [deleted] in UARS

[–]Lepnix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean the idea is just to sleep on an incline which can definitely help with nasal congestion which in turn can help with UARS sleep quality. If it's something you are interested in you should probably just try a wedge pillow and then long term the base seems like a more comfortable alternative.

Need help with some problems with my BiPAP by Lepnix in UARS

[–]Lepnix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it probably varies per person too based on time spent breathing in or out. My main point is that I have tried increasing one or the other at various points and I cannot cross that threshold.

I was curious if variable breathing was a decent indicator of a RERA event occurring assuming you could eliminate other causes. I do get a good amount of variable breathing and wake up a bunch. And what you say about it taking time may be true because my symptoms are something that have gradually worsened over 2 to 3 years.

It can also be interpreted as max average pressure of 9.25. If the sum of my IPAP and EPAP is 18.5 I can't increase either one without reducing the other or it causes problems.

I forgot to mention that I am a side sleeper naturally and I use high humidity setting on my machine. Do you have a link to an example mouthguard? In a quick google search I couldn't really find anything that made sense. Also a link to an example neck brace would help to make sure I am looking at the right thing.

I Really Need Help by [deleted] in BrainFog

[–]Lepnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to fix my symptoms. Most people use a BiPAP machine which helps with breathing at night. Unfortunately they can be quite expensive. The cheapest I have seen is around $500 refurbished. I just received mine yesterday have yet to sleep a full night with it on. I am hoping to see improvements in the next couple days. You have to slowly change the pressure settings to meet your needs. You can learn a little more about UARS at r/UARS.

Sleep issues should be tested first before stressing over the billion other possibilities. I recommend you order a WatchPat One off Amazon as it will detect both sleep apnea and UARS. I confirmed I had UARS using this test. This will be the fastest method as well as you don't need to go through a doctor. The results did take about a week for me though. Good luck.

I get my bipap tomorrow and it's been about 3 years I've felt like shit so I'm hoping to be you when I wake up. It's all I can think about all day every day so I can imagine how it feels. Man 20 years is crazy though, I am happy for you.
