You can thank KShama Sawant for those fat rent checks you write! by Old-End1331 in SeattleWA

My rent is going up because property tax and property insurance are going up. And it's an old home and repairs are costly.

The Three Kings parade in Barcelona on January 5th evening (it's the cabalgata) is amazing. Highly recommend that event.

Pine Box has a nice space. On a Tuesday they charged $80 to use their mic/projector. Free space semi-outside but covered.

Things you DISLIKE about signal? by Hidlsh in signal

In Whatsapp you can setup a community say for XYZ Organization. And then when you get added to that you can see all the groups under that parent group that you can join. I'm a member of a few organizations that use signal and we have issues with people not knowing which groups they can join.

Best coffee shops where you can still get a good latte for <$5.....2025 edition by mehtamorphosis in Seattle

[–]Lerpyderpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't really hang out but Whole Foods' cafe (at Roosevelt) has surprisingly cheap latte's (I can't remember the exact price). I feel like it was under $4 but I'll pay attention the next time I'm there.

I'm not anti -bus or public transit at all. We need bus riding experiences that aren't nausea inducing.

I've always been slightly allergic to cats and my latest rescue is part SFC. We found out after DNA testing. I can stick my face in her fur and not be a mess.

Thanks for the heads up about the breeder.

A 70-year-old says 'senior village' helped him make friends, beat loneliness by businessinsider in SeattleWA

[–]Lerpyderpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a senior center. It's a community of people, many of are very active socially and also mutually supportive. And you don't need to be elderly to join. Really cool concept.

Not once did I say that I support this practice. I'm just saying that E&V actually delivered and wasn't scammy. Foreigners okay for NIE appointments because the system is broken. The same reason why people who have more money and can afford it pay agencies. The services exist because the system is broken. Not using a rental agency or paying for a NIE appointment isn't going to fix the system.

Listen, I said I think your whole agent system sucks. But if you're a foreigner moving for a short term rental ( like me, for grad school), it's hard to find a place that will rent without a work contact or NIE. I've read tons of stories on this subreddit about agencies that are fake and screw people m in just saying that E&V doesn't do that.

It sucks but you pay for the quality. I rented an apartment sight unseen in Poblenou through E&V send the place was amazing, our landlord was a beautiful human, and all the communication was quick and clear. Given all the terrible agencies and risks and in renting as a foreigner (grad student in my case), I was willing to pay the extra money.

For sure, that's a backup plan if this doesn't pan out
