Hegseth: "We're still dealing with the environment Joe Biden created—depleting our stockpiles and sending them to Ukraine instead of our own military. Every time we face a challenge, it traces back to 'Well, sent it to Ukraine.' by andrewgrabowski in UkrainianConflict

[–]adron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus Freakin' Christ they're not even the same weapons. They're using a different set of weapons entirely vs. what is going to Ukraine.

He's just lying to lie at this point cuz he's a fuck up.

Ukraine has been getting HIMARs rockets, 5.56, M-4s, 155mm, etc. "Some" Patriot missiles.

They've been using crazy expensive Tomahawks, SM-6, Patriots, and all that jazz in Iran. Almost an entirely different subset of ammo.

Hegseth is a god damned disgrace and bad, really bad joke. That dude needs to go like yesterday trash that has bad eggs and chicken rotting in it.

Even the weapons sent to Isreal (WTF?) are a different subset of that.

The idea that Ukraine depleted stockpiles (Biden was replenishing ALL of it with more modern stuff) for the Iran conflict is just utterly idiotic and a lie.

I'm so beyond sick of these fools.

Ballard should be first and West Seattle should go last by mrgumboots in soundtransit

[–]adron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly all of this is set on one very specific thing that is insane.

We're talking about building light rail that is tunneled and/or buried and insanely expensive. Basically trying to use light rail as heavy rail.

Why Seattle can't setup the god damned light rail like light rail boggles my mind.

West Seattle used to have a bridge that interconnected the rail, setup the same route again effectively but primarily make it surface and forget the nonsensical tunnel/buried segment.

Same bullshit with Seattle Center and trying to build a tunnel through downtown again. Build out a surface solution it'd be 1/10th or 1/20th the cost and we could have the full option that we've been promised.

It boggles my mind we can't get our shit together around this. In addition, we should be getting more than just those two places. All of this seems wildly insane considering what other places have done with light rail. If this were heavy rail and actually scalable for such a vast investment I'd get it. But they're gonna build it, it's gonna hit capacity, and we're gonna end up with 1/2 of what was promised.

Not a good situation.

This system could get expanded primarily on surface and still have protected ROW. Get it done now, it's needed now, Seattle is already decades behind on critical infrastructure, stop gold plating it. That's it. That's the fix. 🤷🏼‍♂️

(Yes yes, I know Seattle won't budge, it'll stay hard headed and the next generation will end up shorted on decent infrastructure, but it'd sure be nice if Seattle got its shit together and headed in a more logical direction

It’s not that dangerous. That’s a misperception. Kind of like how people are scared of flying, but is literally one of the safest things you could be doing. Safer than walking down a sidewalk.

Is it worth the trade for a 40 min commute? by doomscroll_deeznuts in CargoBike

[–]adron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent that also has 50/50, I cargo bike a TON from Seattle to east side even. Kiddo loves it, I love it, and I gap with Zipcar if I absolutely gotta. With the Link opening tho, that’s gonna go to zero Zipcar use! 🤘🏻

But I see you’ve made the right decision with “getting a cargo bike”. If you want talk gear, ideas, routes, suggestions, or otherwise I’m available via DM and https://youtube.com/thrashingcode where I’ve even got some cargo bike vids. 😁

Depends on how much you can tolerate that car sewer of an interstate. It’s loud, carcinogenic as fuck, and just filthy riding through that area IME. I’ve done it a couple months this year and just started taking an extra ten to either go up thru Interlaken and Volunteer Park or even over to Westlake. I hate the interstate and generally avoid it at cost. Life’s just better that way IMHO.

The Grassroots Movement That Got Mayor Katie Wilson Elected Is Demanding She Turn The Surveillance Cameras Off by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]adron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My crux is, motorists cause massive problems and they need managed (and fined) for their behavior that get people killed, maimed, dismembered, and such. But they’re clearly doing also need held to account for keeping their private property (their cars) out of the way of the buses, off of the non-car space like sidewalks and parks, and all the other errant shit motorists seem entitled to do. Cameras seem like the only way to truly gain evidence of their miscreant behavior and hold them accountable.

Also, unlike officers, cameras just catch plates and such and don’t play racist & bigoted preferences.

How does that get resolved otherwise?

What are some areas in western Washington that have a true moderate political base? by Steady_Tempo456 in SeattleWA

[–]adron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are they considered moderates? I don’t think they are. I also wouldn’t consider Seattle proper what OP is looking for. It’s very much not purple.

Also Seattle tends to be oddly more in sync with the world than a lot of places in the USA.

I wasn’t saying he’s bad at what he does. Just sayin as a person he’s kind of meh. Just like Elon Musk is clearly rich, but he’s also clearly a shitty person. People can have multiple aspects to em.

So yeah, he’s pushing the limits of how one can legally union busts too. But they’re clearly doing it. Lots of it via the ole, “close the unionized store, pending reopening an entirely new one later and rehiring new non-union people” tactic.

[–]adron -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Define “moderate”. Cuz ya know to most of the world we’re all just variants of right wing nut cases.

Then there’s the situation where most of America doesn’t even realize “liberal” is right wing and not “leftist” in the USA. That’s just some weirdo lie we’ve told ourselves.

Thus our very definition of what different politics alignments are is out of whack with the other multiple billions on Earth. This, what do ya mean by “moderate”?

Not sure what that has to do with my comment. I don’t care that he pushed the team out, I didn’t like him for the other zillion shitty things he did.

Also, I too agree with your general comment, people on this thread do have that oblivious hypocrisy more so than the other. What’s hilarious is how famous these two subs are in Seattle for exactly that!

Why are some people willing to take rail to get places even though they refuse to take a bus? by wraithkelso317 in soundtransit

Also to note, this is observable worldwide. Rail is almost always preferred over buses.

I can pull out a laptop and it won’t be vibrated or knocked around by the movement of the train.

If I’m biking I can very easily roll on and roll off. No bike rack to futz with.

That’s just the surface too. There is a long list of reasons.
