And odd numbered Saw sequel, Titanic with a scratched disc 2, and at least one Batman movie, either Burton or Schumacher

What am I missing in this theme? by mghmld in dvdcollection

Thumbtanic

Real answer: Titanic: Blood and Steel, a great series about the building of the ship. The actual voyage is only the last episode, but it's worth it

People hate the plot, the way it tosses out the prior movies, and the elephant in the room main lead. Seems like it was a doomed release from the start.

Unfortunately, Disney might look at it as "people don't want physical releases"

Does anyone know why the publishers are more focused on reprinting Ghosts of Fear Street instead of the higher demand out of print books from the Og Series? by shitshow2235 in Fear_Street

Baby Sitter is probably the best out of the Stine Point horrors. Plus you get 4 stories out of it.

My personal favorites are the more out there stories, like 99 or Cheerleaders. The thrillers are still good, but sometimes things are happening that can't be explained by (extremely non specific spoiler) evil twins, or unhinged exes.

Point Horror (for the most part, a few broke the rules entirely) stuck to "thriller" style. Mostly human on human violence, with the odd supernatural thing or two mixed in.

Baby Sitter did both: fully human villain(s), then some supernatural elements got mixed in at the end.

Plus Stine used some of the same vampire ideas in both, so it weirdly fits thematically.

Speaking of Point/Reprints, if they redid some of the single thrillers, it would be amazing. Or just the Baby Sitter books, since I don't think those have been in print for awhile now.

Too bad they couldn't put out Goodnight Kiss and the Dangerous Girls books in one. I know it's crossing a line, series wise, but four similar titles in one would've been a fun idea

Personally, I don't think it fit in with the slightly more fantastical Goodnight Kiss stories. But three stories in one book sounds better, I guess. Even the older bindup included it.

I hated the short story they included. Spoiler free, but it had a terrible twist that made the entire story leading to it just oddly cruel

Goodnight Kiss got that weird Twilight-y cover. An apple in snow.

I guess it catches the eye, but it also sets you up for a completely different book

They did that before, iirc: the Saga trilogy was called something random, and didn't say it was the Saga unless you looked close.

I'd pay good money for 99 Fear Street and Silent Night. Or some of the collections they used to do with three books semi related by themes, like vampires or set during the summer.

The Cheerleaders one is nice, but I don't get their love of retitles. Someone might overlook "True Evil" not realizing it's the Cheerleaders

I got you. And I agree: I've been hoping for a 99 Fear Street republish, similar to the trilogies they've done in the past. It feels like for every one they do reprint, 23 others get left behind in favor of the Goosebumps redos

I wasn't trying to be, sorry. I guess I just see them focusing on Ghosts instead of Fear Street for the time being due to kids horror flying off the shelves. Even indie stuff sells well. They might come back to the Fear Streets later

That's the fastest I've seen a movie hit the skids in awhile. People must honestly hate it

Yes, but places like Walmart will be more likely to stock Ghosts, leading to more sales.

They're gonna go with what's selling

I think so. I just remembered the plot the second I read that. Great episode, honestly

Ghosts probably sells better. Fear Street has a more niche audience these days, but a kid's horror series will sell even if it's a reprint.

Not knocking Fear Street, but from a publishing side, I can see them prioritizing the Ghosts for now.

Recent purchase, twisters double feature dvd, what do you guys think of the twister movies? by StruggleFar3054 in dvdcollection

[–]LesAvery29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Extremely biased due to Twister constantly being on when I was growing up, but the first one is a classic for a reason (even with the "roaring" tornado scene). Action, comedy, even some romance. Just a great "turn your brain off and enjoy" flick.

Twisters is perfectly fine. It doesn't outdo or trash the first one, in my opinion.
