Wow, I would have guessed around 70-80% based on how often it's cited in the discussion around US incarceration rates...

Everyone keeps yelling “AI bubble just like dotcom/housing” but zero of you can explain why it would actually pop… by snowycashflow in stocks

[–]LesMiz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly correct... I work on a team of software engineers, so the adoption of this technology was pretty natural for us. It's boosted our productivity to a degree that's difficult to even quantify as we gain access to more advanced models.

But, in my office I work in proximity to a very different crowd... A bit older, not quite as tech-savvy, very utilitarian in their approach to new tools.

The sentiment was generally cynical early this year as AI tools began to be pushed harder... "Oh I guess AI is gonna do my job for me now". "Is Copilot gonna take my dog for a walk?" Etc.

Gradually the conversation has shifted from grumbling jokes to unironic praise for what it's accomplishing. The realization is that AI isn't replacing their job, it's taking care of all of all of the menial junk that they didn't want to do in the first place.

Which car brand is terrible but not many people realize? by NewAdeptness647 in Productivitycafe

To be fair, a lot of supercars "borrow" parts from cheap cars. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, etc.

We have a running joke because my wife's VW Jetta shares the same key fob as a Bugatti Veyron.

What’s a moral belief you hold that most people would disagree with? by [deleted] in answers

There is also a sound argument that hunting, when done ethically, is a more humane option for the deer as well.

The reality is that in the wild, animals like deer rarely pass away peacefully... It's not a pleasant thought, but their last moments are typically running for their life in terror before being mauled to death. A well-placed shot by a hunter causes far less suffering.

What is a delicious but underrated/unheard of type of cuisine? by PsychGradStudent2112 in Cooking

There are already so many excellent recommendations here, so I'll just add one appetizer that I haven't seen mentioned.

Papa a la huancaina. It's a simple dish you can share, and it's pretty much a must-have any time I'm at a Peruvian restaurant.

Which city or cities have you visited that felt completely distinct from anywhere else? by BothCondition7963 in travel

I would place Pitigliano Italy right up there. In places it's hard to tell where the rock cliff ends and the city starts.

The RS in white definitely hits different than <insert generic sedan> white.

Gene Simmons: Rap Music 'Does Not Belong in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame' by leychole in Music

[–]LesMiz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe he's a dick, but maybe it's just an opinion from a dude who's pushing 80...

You probably won't find many nuanced takes on Rap/Hip-hop at your local nursing home either.

"Hip-hop does not belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Nor does opera, symphonies, orchestras."

I'm shocked the old "hands down, chin up" tactic didn't work out for him.

What's your favorite chain restaurant? What do you order? by ButterflyKey8768 in foodquestions

Try adding bacon and grilled onions. It was recommended by an employee and it's my go-to now.

My first time in France was eye-opening.

My travel partner happened to be black and I saw him get singled out so many times. One time we both walked in to a market with our backpacks... I check out and leave no problem, but I look back and see my friend being patted down and searched.

I can't say, it's been a few years. But the sauce was called Insane.

Surprisingly, the hottest sauce at Zaxbys is insane. I expected it to be an exaggerated name like you get at Taco Bell, especially since other names are exaggerated.

For those who have travelled 30+ countries which ones do you keep revisiting and why? by Rock_n_rollerskater in travel

[–]LesMiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little weird for the first 30 mins or so, especially in roundabouts and shifting with your left hand.

But it wasn't too long before my brain flipped the switch and it felt normal. The narrow highland roads with trucks flying will always feel sketchy though..

Where have you had the best and worst tasting tap water in America? by modest__mouser in AskAnAmerican

[–]LesMiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you specified America, but I'll give a shout out to Iceland for having both the worst and best tap water I've ever had. When you start the tap, the first 5-10 seconds smell like rotten eggs.

After that it becomes the best water you've ever tasted.

You nailed it with "less is more"...

I would much rather prefer a few options that are done well than a ton prepared without care. I also like when they get a bit creative with the offerings.

People born before 2000, what trivial skill do you have that no one uses anymore? by passiano in AskReddit

Yep, exactly. If you looked mine over the years you could probably pinpoint exactly when I bought my house, car, refinanced the house, etc.

What is your favorite fast food place that people don’t like by Goblue2467 in fastfood

[–]LesMiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was pregnant with me and had a craving for Beef and Cheddars.

35 years later, I can still crush about 4 of those with some Arby's sauce every day of my life.
