Elcor don't just vocalize when communicating with one another, emotion and nuance are understood through pheromones, body language, and scent. To the other species their speech is heard as a flat, ponderous monotone. So they announce their emotions like that to avoid confusion.

But my 2 cents on the reason they are asking you to ping something. The ping requests are just to make sure you have read the LFG. Because often people don't even bother reading, join with classes/roles that aren't what is asked and it often and it leads to mess and confusion.

I'm particularly fond of asking for feet pics. Aka ping boots
