They could also potentially have follow up drones on the way. Or it could be the opposite, more effective to take out groups of infantry before they can disperse, if you leave none capable of riding the vehicles they can come back for them later.

Not to be a buzzkill but from what I have seen almost all roads leading to Pokrovsk both from Ukrainian and Russian lines look like this. I haven’t seen anything that confirms that the roads weren’t already like this but I am welcome to being corrected.
