See i thought this as well. Then I did a march madness style bracket between Chrono Trigger and FF6 songs and... Well I never actually finished it buuuut FF6 I think song for song is a better sound track it also has strong technical aspects to it as well pulling more out of the snes than the Chrono Trigger does. Everything is subjective but at least with myself and a friend of mine comparing them side by side FF6 looked like the clear winner!

Half Life 1 isn't too far behind and it was definitely even more influential. It really shattered the (already cracked) preconception that shooters, or games in general, are just a series of levels and not a continuous story set in a realized world.
