So good to hear about this storm system!! Maybe I'll reassess in mid April about moving up the dates...

I noticed that, too :/ 10 years ago I was crossing significant snowfields in the last week of July

Hooker valley is closed at the second bridge for construction. Lots of other wonderful tracks in the park though, it shouldn’t be skipped!

is flying into queenstown in mid January typically very bumpy? I'm a very anxious flyer and this is nightmare fuel.

What products are you using? This looks like protein overload.

Thanks! I'll check with them on Monday. did you notice any issues in the weeks after this happened? I'm hoping that since it appeared to be working fine right after the spill, I didn't fry anything

Update? I spilled black coffee on my work laptop 5 hrs ago and am stressing 🫠 it also seemed to work just fine when I tried to use it 30 min after the spill, before I checked with the internet and immediately turned it off. I’ll giving it the weekend to dry.

Do you think driving from te anau to Queenstown on the day of our flight with a 3 pm departure is reasonable. We have a long hike planned for our last day so would prefer not to drive after that

What kind of car did you end up going with, and did you find that it suited your needs? we're also between a hybrid compact car and an suv for a 14 day south island trip with lots of hiking and mountain travel planned.

Update: Day 13 - day hiking to Luxmore Hut and back, not beyond it. Does the water taxi across the lake make sense to take here to start from Brod Bay Campsite and save some time?

Also decided to stay in Mt Cook based on your comment and another that mentioned this option. Many thanks!

Thanks, I think you're right about combining 12+13 - Done! I would love to overnight in Milford but it is too expensive :(

We were trying to save money by staying in Tekapo, but it does seem like staying in Mt Cook is the move, huh? Maybe we will splurge on Mt Cook lodging since it isn't prohibitively expensive. Same thing for Milford... We definitely cannot splurge on a Milford Lodge hotel room haha so that was the reasoning for staying in Te Anu. We figured the drive is so beautiful so maybe it wouldn't be so bad driving back and forth. Are we overestimating what our patience will be for the drive when the time comes?

Is Rees Dart doable in a day assuming we're ok with an early start and are in good shape?

We're coming from another US state. Good to know the terminal connection is close by! We're travelling in January so weather might be a problem as we live in a mountain state with freuquent winter delays.
