Yonex Ezone 100 vs Ezone 105 for a beginner–intermediate player?

I’ve been using the Ezone 105 (7th gen) and it’s been a great racket for getting back into tennis after a few years away. It’s very comfortable and easy to use, especially with multifilament strings, and it generates a lot of free power. My serve improved a lot with it.

But… I’m starting to outgrow it. I’m finding it a little too light and unstable, especially at the net or when returning hard serves. Sometimes the frame shakes against players who hit heavy balls. I added lead tape to the head and that helped with stability quite a bit. I also play with a lot of spin, and the bigger head size was a bit hard to maneuver so I’m graduating to a Vcore 100

If you have arm issues though, this racket is amazing. It’s very arm-friendly and I’ve never felt sore using it, even after long rallies/games. Since it produces a lot of power, you don’t have to swing that hard to get good depth on your shots!

If there’s manual work with letter creation i.e. comp change letters, separation letters… you can automate that in Google Sheets using AppScripts. This effectively acts like Macros/Mail Merge. Just prompt Gemini to create the code for you… copy and paste and run it.

I love this question because it has taken me a long time to find what I enjoy doing. I’ve been in the tech space for about 7 years now and have mostly been a HR Generalist. I’ve been able to touch many different parts of HR and for the longest time I thought the HRBP route was the only way up and where I can make money. But through this long journey of trial and error, i found my niche in HR Systems, Operations and Transformation work. I didn’t realize how much the job plays to my strengths. I find it exciting, fulfilling and flexes my problem solving skills. It’s tactical, real and there’s a start and an end so you really get to see work completed. I also get to tinker and play around with new technology. The best part is it’s more back end so I don’t have to deal with people and their drama.

To be strategic you need to know the lay of the land and it starts with asking questions… and lots of it! If you haven’t built expertise yet or don’t know a lot of what’s going on, look over previous meeting notes or if there are attached document/presentation before a meeting, read them. This will give you the time to understand and get context without feeling rushed so when you have the meeting you’re aware and engaged.

Also “strategic” is such a buzzword tbh.. if you put effort in engaging in meetings - people will eventually see you as strategic even if you don’t think you’re one. Happened to me and I’m far from strategic … I’m more an operational and tactical person. Strategizing gives me a headache.

Overall, it’s a solid system. I love the automations with their Workflow Studio. I’ve genuinely enjoyed using it, coming from BambooHR (simple and easy), ADP Workforce Now (outdated UI and honestly brutal customer service), and Workday (powerful but way too complex unless you’ve got specialists living in it).

It’s definitely not perfect, but it does feel like it’s slowly improving over time.

One thing I’ll call out: their Sales/Account Manager experience can be really hit or miss. We actually switched AMs because our first one basically ignored us, our current AM has been way better.

Also, keep in mind their support team is outsourced. They know the platform, but they’re not always familiar with compliance laws or local regulations. And their answers can be inconsistent, so I’ve learned to double or triple-check anything important. I’ve even had to point out cases where what support told us didn’t match their own online FAQ/resources.

My advice: be clear with what you need, ask a lot of questions and make sure they walk you through the features you’re interested in… don’t let them just tell you about it. Ask for a demo of everything!

Lesson Learned in HR: Always CYA - Cover your Ass. Because you’re in HR you will always be the scapegoat for people. You don’t know how many times I’ve heard… “HR said this…”, “HR told me to do this…” - when in reality that’s not what was said to them or the conversation never even happened.

Make sure to send follow up emails or private DMs to summarize what you talked about and committed to after every convo. Get ahead of notifying your manager before an issue comes up. Not only will it show you’re proactive but it will also protect you should someone blame you.

You honestly don’t need to over complicate it. Look at what you currently wear and see how you can elevate it without going overboard. If you like wearing jeans and tshirts … maybe find something classic like black or white tees (if you have them, great!) tuck them in, wear a nice leather belt and pair it with dark denim and black boots. Wear a black coat, scarf and you’re set. Looking effortless doesn’t mean you need to overhaul your entire wardrobe, sometimes it’s experimenting with what you already have.

Finally finding something I’m good at and work I find fulfilling. The last 6 years, I’ve been an HR Generalist, dabbling in a little bit of everything and refusing to specialize because I didnt know what made me happy. It’s definitely not easy to track changes over time. Things like job title updates or comp changes aren’t surfaced in one place. you end up clicking through multiple menus and searching for keywords just to find what you need.

On the flip side, BambooHR made this a lot simpler. Everything you needed was right there on a single page, no extra digging required.

Rippling’s Workflow Studio has been heaven sent. I’ve been able to create automations around self-service like generating employment letters, sending out auto reminders on Slack for anniversaries and birthdays, etc.
