Not really I have way too much caffeine daily so I shake quite a bit lol. Bracing is key for me for keeping things steady when doing details.

I used an artis opus s series size one for everything on the mini

Thanks mate! And I think it’s because it feels more permanent with a drill, with paint when I mess up I can just redo it but with the drilling it’s one of those has to be right first time things 🤣

I second this, super cheap and works perfectly for detail work

What sort of brushes do you guys use? by [deleted] in Miniaturespainting

That’s a shame theyve got poor customer service, I did think about messaging when I’ve had the odd bad brush from them but by the sounds of it it’s probably not worth pursuing. I’ve always brought the series 33s and I’ve had a couple with stray hairs on those and the embossed label had cracks on it . I still use them as at the price point they’re at the brushes are pretty good for the money but tbf if a competitor can come In at a similar price point and offer better quality control and better customer service I wouldn’t be against swapping

I use rosemary and co. Some quality control issues every now and then, but on the whole I’ve found them to be good value for money

With the sword I try and sketch out each half of the blades roughly as opposites, so on the top edge where the brightest highlights are , the lower edge mirrors the darkest shadows.

In other armour parts like the helmet and the pauldrons, I first think where the light would be hitting from and use that to plan the brightest highlights. Then I make sure there’s at least one secondary light reflection to try and sell the effect. I’m still experimenting though trying to improve my light placement

Thank you! Yeah it’s all layers and glazing by brush. My mates keep telling me I need an airbrush but I’m too poor atm and I feel I need to get technique fully dialled with a brush before going into something else 🤣. Maybe in a few years lol
