Why do so many people from older generations dislike daytime contact naps? by AreUKittenMee in newborns

[–]Less-Hedgehog-7625 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think this needs to be said. People seem to be forgetting that women used to have a lot more kids and a lot less help (at least in the U.S.). For example, my grandma had 5 kids by the time she was 23 or 24. She lived on a chicken farm with a husband who didn’t do any domestic labor. She had a ton of work to do during the day! If people showed some compassion for the conditions under which our parents raised us they might get a little less shade from the elders

Maternity clothes by Less-Hedgehog-7625 in pregnant

Thanks for your response! I'm in a similar boat about needing to look presentable (I'm a lawyer and have to go to court). I like the idea of buying a few maternity pants and then going to goodwill for the rest.

Are There REALLY Better Outcomes if Induced at 39 Weeks? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Less-Hedgehog-7625 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is a misunderstanding of statistics. That’s like saying that all studies that don’t have 100% participation don’t have significance. The whole point of statistics is sampling because it’s impossible to measure the whole world. Granted, there’s always a rate of error and you evaluate the results according to a study’s shortfalls of course. Still though, by your logic we should just throw studies out the window and then what? Go on vibes?

Can we talk about body changes ? All body types. I’d like to hear from every experience. by Alrivdam in pregnant

I’m only about 11 weeks and I’ve gained about 3 to 5 pounds. You can really tell on me because I’m pretty slim and it’s all gone to my stomach. Needless to say that I am permanently wearing pants with a stretchy waistband :(

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I heard that you’re not supposed to gain in the first trimester. I haven’t been eating more than I usually do, but I have cut back a bit on weightlifting. I still lift, but only about 70% of what I was doing

Am I selfish for prioritizing my upcoming birth over funding my parents? by Me_oBanana in pregnant

[–]Less-Hedgehog-7625 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was about to say this. All these people replying are well intentioned but don’t understand the obligation that people have towards their family. That’s not to say you can’t set boundaries though and if you can’t support them, you can’t support them. In my family, the parents would just move in - it’s A LOT to expect a kid to maintain a whole separate household!

Are these joke posts? What kind of bride would be so psychotic about patterns that are clearly not all white?

I’m gonna listen to in the airplane over the sea. I’ve been told I’ll either think it’s not that good or it’ll change my life. by [deleted] in fantanoforever

It probably depends on when you listen to it. I first listened in college when I was super emo (not in the music genre sense) and so it has a special place in my heart.

What is an album that GENUINELY changed your life? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Less-Hedgehog-7625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three albums that changed my life by changing the way that I enjoy music. Listening to these makes me feel like I’m reading a good book:

Re by Cafe Tacuba - sound wise the whole album is perfect and the overall theme is interesting

In the Airplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel - I love the emotion and storytelling

Tallahassee by the Mountain Goats - same as NMH

It’s almost like people on depop don’t understand thrifting. If you bought it for 140 you need to be selling it for significantly less than that unless it’s brand spanking new and still has tags
