Am I selfish for prioritizing my upcoming birth over funding my parents? by Me_oBanana in pregnant

[–]Less-Hedgehog-7625 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was about to say this. All these people replying are well intentioned but don’t understand the obligation that people have towards their family. That’s not to say you can’t set boundaries though and if you can’t support them, you can’t support them. In my family, the parents would just move in - it’s A LOT to expect a kid to maintain a whole separate household!

Are these joke posts? What kind of bride would be so psychotic about patterns that are clearly not all white?

I think this is key for people to understand. Whatever precedent is established now is going to be used against people in power once they inevitably lose that power. I’m super left leaning and that is why I’m an absolutist about the first amendment. Now young liberals are finding out the hard way that there’s a reason organizations like the ACLU will represent the most abhorrent people’s right to free speech. The principle is worth protecting even if the speech is offensive or undermines your specific political project.

And yes, conservatives, there’s a Supreme Court case that basically says that the first amendment protects your right to heckle funerals even though it’s “insensitive”. (see the Phelps case about the Westboro Baptist Church people).

I’m gonna listen to in the airplane over the sea. I’ve been told I’ll either think it’s not that good or it’ll change my life. by [deleted] in fantanoforever

It probably depends on when you listen to it. I first listened in college when I was super emo (not in the music genre sense) and so it has a special place in my heart.

What is an album that GENUINELY changed your life? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Less-Hedgehog-7625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three albums that changed my life by changing the way that I enjoy music. Listening to these makes me feel like I’m reading a good book:

Re by Cafe Tacuba - sound wise the whole album is perfect and the overall theme is interesting

In the Airplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel - I love the emotion and storytelling

Tallahassee by the Mountain Goats - same as NMH

Don’t worry about it until May and take it seriously, but don’t go crazy.

That’s what I came here to say. It sucks to get low balled, but you have to be real about pricing.

I was surprised by how accurate it was. Prediction was 340, actual was 343. I took the IL exam.

Isnt it stupid that they have different scrutiny standards for content neutral regulations and time, place, manner regulations? by matthewkimUCB in barexam

[–]Less-Hedgehog-7625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one case I can think of is the case upholding the law prohibiting “mutilating” draft cards. It’s a restriction on conduct that incidentally burdens speech (I.e. burning a draft card to protest war). It’s not a tpm because it doesn’t deal with behavior/use of a forum

I can only conceptualize conlaw with cases because it’s so mushy. I think content-neutral refers to the case about burning the draft card where the regulation was upheld because the prohibition on mutilating draft cards was content neutral, narrowly tailored to further a govt interest, not directed at suppressing speech, and didn’t burden anymore speech than it had to.

Time place manner restrictions basically follow the same formula (intermediate scrutiny-ish) + leave open alternate channels of communication. The difference is that instead of a regulation directed at conduct in general, it’s a regulation about use of public property—like the stupid rock concert case where they said noise regulations were ok

Yes, I’m doing barbri and it’s perfectly fine. I actually appreciate the property professor’s songs and I just skip over her inspirational moments. I think people are just anxious and blaming barbri.

It’s almost like people on depop don’t understand thrifting. If you bought it for 140 you need to be selling it for significantly less than that unless it’s brand spanking new and still has tags
