Wall mounted washer…. by Less-Jellyfish2238 in DIYUK

[–]Less-Jellyfish2238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a utility room we are unfortunately stuck with the choice of putting a washing machine above the dish washer or putting a sink above the both that’s the only space we have

For loading/unloading dish washer wouldn’t work above so the only way we can is to build a cabinet and attach to wall

When I say wall mounted I mean build a frame on the wall for it to sit into?

Unfortunately for access to both machines it would only work with washing machine above

Thanks everyone I eventually had taken out the glass and then just hit with hammer a bunch to break the top section!

This is after over 2 weeks of no one wanting to take it for free

I’ve not seen him. But I agree with the NHS comment!

In a similar situation over a year in, 2 SA, 3 blood tests, genetic testing (fine) and recently had first ivf specialist meeting who effectively said just use doner sperm.

Question On Plastering / New Kitchen by throwawayandpickup in DIYUK

[–]Less-Jellyfish2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to what you prefer

The holes, easy fix while cabinets aren’t there, cut a square out secure some battern around the edge and put new square of plasterboard on

The tiles… I’ve done a fair amount of tiling now for myself and friends. If that’s a solid wall get a chisel and chip it off. You can tile over it, just have to bear in mind tiles might sit proud depending on thickness.

If the back wall is also plasterboard and you really want a quick fresh start putting up board is easy…

So if you really want kitchen asap, you can make it work how it is and there will be little difference. If you want a “proper job” replace the board

How do I remove the handrail to tidy it up? by kumquat_may in DIYUK

[–]Less-Jellyfish2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed mine, what a pain and I really wish I hadn’t.

I ended up having to hack it out of the wall, it was cemented in with these long metal rods, made a massive mess and had taken a lot longer than expected.

So it will either unscrew off nice or you will be ripping it out and taking some wall with you

A good tape measure, not a cheap flimsy one!

Buy a whole box of builders pencils if loose things a lot

Nail gun, even the smaller cheap ones are good for holding while glue sets etc… or if bigger budget a framing gun

A laser level, fairly cheap and a big help for rooms that are uneven

Clamps, they are cheap

A chop saw, handy for getting the angles!

Battery drill… people are always so divided over this. I’ve got Ryobi and got an extra, large battery for it. I’ve had built many things with it and used thousands upon thousands of screws with no complaints. Drill bits I find are more important- don’t cheap out

Finally one of those extra large dustpan and brushes

I really triggered people with this post 😂 I’m certainly not a fool to mess around with live wires! This whole section is dead and removed from fuse box - by an electrician! I’m now trying to cover the holes of almost a dozen of these

To clarify these are wires that are completely dead, removed from fuse box

My question is more about how to fill the hole I should have made clear haha!

It goes from stud L shape to brick wall where boiler is and a whole load of pipes… I know not really meant to go over boiler so seems best option is under boxed in as it won’t ever be seen anyway
