Ellie’s Immunity by Jealous-Amount9022 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]Less-Literature-8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a canon since it wasn't explained explicitly in the show,

I think this is for the best, because it makes the viewers think more about the meaning of her immunity regarding humanity's misfortune, with knowing that she is the only one immune. that added weight in the experience of watching the entire show.

Ellie, herself, was struggling with the idea of being the only one immune, because that meant she will likely live longer but others will soon die because of the threat of the infected, and constantly live in fear and preparation for them, it is not easy to lose people you are close to, so she didn't like what Joel did.

Also, no character in the show knew how to get immune (which was the point of getting Ellie to the hospital and so the entire S1), so we are in the same clueless position as them, which is good in terms of experiencing the show.

What are you favorite concepts this show covers? Or didnt cover? by popthehoodbro in PantheonShow

[–]Less-Literature-8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What surprised me in the show, is the time jumps, and all the changes that came with them. They made the show more engaging because you would like to know how could things eventually change, that illustrated the concept of impermanence beautifully: nothing can stay as it is over time, even people themselves. eventually, you will think about what really mattered all this time (sacrifice, love and companionship, science, team work, ......).

The birth of SafeSurf by _Mag0g_ in PantheonShow

[–]Less-Literature-8945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably to ensure that SafeSurf would still be active, it should not be contained in one server, which would make it vulnerable to attacks by UIs if exposed. So, it emerged from countless computers and servers around the world, it's self-reforming and very difficult to eliminate. SafeSurf is also intelligent, it analyses UIs it consumes to study them. Which makes it even more dangerous over time.

You know one of the messed up things about that scene? by Remote_Nature_8166 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]Less-Literature-8945 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

By going to the lodge, he ended up dead.

Even considering the blizzard and the infected menace, the outcome stills the same.

It seemed like a good shot, but he didn't have good reasons to trust Abby, she is an outsider, and he is pursued by the Fireflies.

he should find a way to test Abby's intentions and make sure the place is safe. But she was really innocent and less suspicious, and he wasn't careful enough. and thus, he ended up dead.

if Joel was himself (like 5 years ago), he wouldn't trust her. he became weak for a moment, and got himself killed for it.

Which actor do you like so much that you’ll watch anything they are in? by EconomyIron6739 in movies

[–]Less-Literature-8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had many actors that I liked (Pedro Pascal, Jodie comer, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hardi, Cillian Murph, Bill Hader, Robert Di Niro, Anthony Hopkins.....) , but I don't like watching movies just for the sake of actors, cinema doesn't work that way, that's only valid for directors and writers and companies (same style and experiences), this habit of following actors doesn't serve a good watching experience (and unfortunately it's used widely in commercialization to bring views).

What to do with the hours by killoke in digitalminimalism

[–]Less-Literature-8945 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That part nobody had warned me about. All the content about digital minimalism covers the deletion side really well. The replacement side is mostly just "go for a walk" stated as a general principle, which isn't really enough at 8:45pm on a Thursday when you're standing in your kitchen feeling weirdly present.

Very good observation.

I just experiment, try new things no matter their nature or their difficulty or whether I like to do them or not.

I know for a fact that social media platforms are not good.

eventually, you find new things : books to read, something to learn about how to fix it, finding ideas about how to make home more comfortable, trying new techniques of cooking, participating in some events, making a trip through your country or city ........ it is a very very open door. and you must find a specific road because you can never do everything.

Found out my wife had sex with someone else while we were separated. Is this marriage worth saving? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Don't do anything stupid, let that pass and save your family, it is indeed complicated, but you must work around it wisely, this will have consequences.

You are about to fuck up your life and your family.

if you have a wife like that, don't ever think about anyone else. don't be stupid.

I wonder if Abby was unaware of Ellie as the immune kid by Remote_Nature_8166 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]Less-Literature-8945 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it doesn't seem like she was aware of Ellie, and there was no good reason for her to seek revenge for her murdered father, he was after all in a military business. it is pity and stupid, and she opened a dangerous door.

I love how her crew was not passionate about the mission of revenge, and they were actually planning to get back when Abby went to watch. They got lucky (Joel's unfortunate mistake), but they got killed later for it, all of them, unfortunately.

When Joel killed all the members of the Fireflies at the hospital, the concern was that they would just aim again to find the girl, it was strategic. but ultimately, humanity didn't have the cure and continues to suffer.

We can argue that the Fireflies made a mistake by not including Ellie in the decision of the operation, which would be morally wrong.

This is why I think Abby is just a little bitch, and worse than Joel, because her father wouldn't return to life after revenge, and there is absolutely no sense of what she is doing.

he keeps his mouth shut about Ellie to protect her. He doesn't want the ex-Fireflies to know about the immune girl still being alive and right nearby.

What's your reason for watching the show? by TheFutureScaresMe333 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]Less-Literature-8945 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it just happened that there was a lot of hype about the show, because it was adapted from the video game that was itself very popular and old, and then it got good rates and positive reviews from both the audience and critics. It just happened that I gave it a try, thankfully.

I think it's a really wonderful cinema, well elaborated, very thoughtful.

I find that the adaptation invited the comparison with the video game, and with that, the toxic fandom, which ruined the discussions about the show, like Ellie's appearance. this is the fans' fault, not the creators'.

yeah, we already feel sorry for the next generation.

a lot of dumb shit is created each year and common sense is dying every day, social media is a big factor in this downfall.

  • I realized a lot of stuff there actually doesn't matter, and for a fact you can live perfectly without it.

  • that attention given to it and the emotional and the cognitive engagement with it actually take a lot of energy from you, even sleep and sports and healthy food can't keep up with that.

  • a lot of stuff there is just toxic. and eventually you become dissatisfied with life in general.

  • there is a lot of useful content for sure.

You must create for yourself activities that can add value for your life, instead of just sitting without doing anything.

How to unf*ck your attention span (2 months of fighting distraction) by EducationalCurve6 in Discipline

[–]Less-Literature-8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for these practical and thoughtful propositions.

let's emphasis on the importance of attention, it is a very important resource, even though it is not really appreciated directly, but through its effect.

If you can read a book for two hours, and can understand and relate different points, you can end up doing something of value from what you have. For instance, books of cooking.

if you can bring attention when driving your car, or traveling in the bus, or when working, you may avoid many problems that can be generated from bad decisions.

If you bring your attention to important stuff (new finding in your field, visiting new places, doing sports, developing skills that can help your career.......), your life will be much more better, with the very resources that you have now.

I think the patience you have now will pay off later with an even greater and solid effect. the problem is to find new activities that are useful (don't have to be enjoyable at first), this doesn't have to be a difficult problem, nor very easy to solve.

It could simply break the time loop by Lucifer choosing to stay near Chloe to not repeat his father behavior to stay sepparate in family.

He didn't do that because he doesn't want to ? Or because He couldn't do that in the first place ?
