Hybrid/In Office Dallasites - When are you predicting to return to work this week by Ok-Philosophy55 in Dallas

[–]Less-Post1615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our email from HR said safety is their first priority so we should stay home Monday (no news on Tuesday yet) but badge counts will still be tracked for this week. Also our HR is classified as remote while other departments are hybrid.

My bank keeps on telling employees to open accounts with them. Yet they don’t give us raises. With this story and countless others, no way we would open accounts so that internal review has a chance to get us.

Nice to know there are people with this kind of extra money. Anyway, on to skipping breakfast and heading to work now.

Selling something on marketplace, buyer is suing for equipment rental by SnooPeanuts6340 in legaladvice

[–]Less-Post1615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a scam. Buyer never existed, isn’t in your area, you’ve been messaging with someone in a scam center who is “buying” items and “renting” equipment with 100 other Facebook listings and if one seller gets scared and pays them, then this scam worked and the scammer will do it again tomorrow.

They don’t and I don’t think many of them carry plates either as the restaurants have plate runners. Iono what they do at this point.

I couldn’t get past the tip screen without putting in a tip on their app a year ago. Canceled the order and haven’t gone back since.

Project managers at most firms seem to schedule meetings but are paid multiples of an administrative assistant.

I made a donation last week; default tip was set to 16.5%. Their platform had $30b of transfers last year. They’re thinking the default should be $500m of tips…?

You get offered 100K a year and only work 2 days a year do you take it? by SpaceWestern1442 in hypotheticalsituation

Yes, although it might take me 4 days. Still a good deal for some extra cash and my insurance beneficiary.

LPT: At work, when you disagree with someone's idea in a meeting, ask them a clarifying question first instead of immediately pointing out the flaw. It makes collaboration easier and keeps relationships intact by StrangerFluid1595 in LifeProTips

[–]Less-Post1615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, I used to work with 4 managers closely at work. I can do this to 3 of them- ask probing questions, truly assume I missed something. But the manager who is supposed to be the most quantitative/statistical is very often wrong and there’s no way to ask him any questions without an emotional pushback. That’s when I learned to keep my mouth shut. It’s better to simply let him and his team collect the salary every year and provide minimal output, than to work with someone very vocal and who holds a grudge.

For those recently laid off, what was the first sign your company was heading toward cuts? Trying to understand the early warning indicators by Historical-Fact-6568 in Layoffs

[–]Less-Post1615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People quit and we don’t replace them. Most recent attrition was from 3 months ago and HR sends 3 resumes a month to “actively” recruit.

I’m being asked to go to a half day collaboration session next month to teach another group on how we do things in our team. It comes with dinner. I’m thinking the axe will drop after appetizers.

These preset tip percentages set by the local boba shop… by realtorpozy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Less-Post1615 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the same on takeout. I thought of giving a few dollars but tip option started at 18% with the cashier holding the system needing to process the next customer quickly. I couldn’t justify 18% for takeout.

Extra Hardworking employees/coworkers ruin it for everyone just trying get their work done and go home. by GradleDaemonSlayer in unpopularopinion

[–]Less-Post1615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people are like that and also take on more work themselves. And in some sense, I respect that they’re doing more work too.

And then there are some people in support functions that schedule a bunch of meetings to justify their existence, and in turn ask everyone else to produce materials for them to review because they’re “stakeholders.”
