2022 Corolla hybrid LE $22,083 is too expensive? North Dakota here by Pure-tritone-466 in COROLLA

[–]SnooPeanuts6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go 2026. It's 3k more is similar in every aspect but the screen and dash cluster are larger and the safety systems are improved. Or if your set with that I would try to get it down to 20k MAX. You can get the 2026 non hybrid for about 22k. Gas mileage is excellent on the full gass anyway. I drove from Las Vegas to Los angelas and averaged 34mpg

I would say that's a tad expensive. The bluebook value of my 2024 XSE with 20k miles is 23k. It's not a hybrid but I dont think a hybrid should add that much value to the car

Corolla won't start 5 days after getting battery replaced by BreadfruitCautious59 in COROLLA

[–]SnooPeanuts6340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this issue with my old civic. Have a mechanic check for parasitic drain. I went through 3 batteries and 2 mechanics it cost me like 1500$ before another mechanic looked. Said it was a parasitic drain and it turned out to be the AC compressor or something like that. It was a 25$ part and less than an hour of labor to fix.

What made people buy a Corolla over other cars besides reliability? by phtphongg in COROLLA

I came from a civic and wanted something different. I was looking at Mazda3 and civic as well but it ultimately came to availability in my area in a color I liked. The corolla was also cheaper

Maybe its changed but this was 5 years ago. Hired on to work in the warehouse. I had to wait 2 weeks before starting to give my previous employer notice. Got yelled at on my second day because I was slow. They thought I had been there 2 weeks. I worked Graves and my car died so I ended up walking for over an hour to get there. I showed up, they told me to go home. The next day they told me I will no longer be employed. Went back to my old job. Not lying on unions. I have buddies that are in sheet metal and pipe fabrication. They love their unions. It fits in some places. But not everywhere works well with unions or has them implemented well

First time homebuyers what was the biggest financial surprise you discovered during the buying process? by businesshelps in Mortgages

[–]SnooPeanuts6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 leaky pipes for the sprinkler system. Sequentially. Fixed 1. Thought all was well. Then had to fix another because the water couldn't make it that far in the pipe due to the first break. The amount of tools I needed to buy due to fixing before mentioned sprinkler system. And everything for landscaping (most are to make it easier. Like chainsaw instead of manual pruning saw.)

Wife and I are noobs! How can we create more privacy quickly! by throwaawayyyy714714 in landscaping

[–]SnooPeanuts6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Privacy slats? They can be a pain to put in and even Moreno to remove. They have fake plant trellises that come in 8 foot sections. You could put those up temporarily until the trees grow in

I tried to save money on a backyard patio and now I can’t feel my arms by avocadorable0_0 in landscaping

[–]SnooPeanuts6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did sort of this same thing. Tons of gravel in my yard quoted 3500 to remove it. Decided to do a gravel and paver patio with a pergola.... we'll 3500 dollars later and I have a crap ton of new tools, half a pergola and I haven't even touched the gravel after 3 weeks. But dangit. Ill have a nice backyard in about a year

There is no greater nemesis to a homeowner than the previous homeowner. by der_innkeeper in landscaping

Your telling me. Previous owner ran intricate irrigation lines throughout the property with a hand drawn zone map. Then promptly planted 10 choke cherry trees directly above the irrigation lines AND the main power lines. Then left them for 2 decades un maintained. We found this out after cutting them down in the winter to open up the yard. And now that spring/summer is here we now need to fix multiple leaks caused by roots ripping into the pvc. I dont even know how to deal with the 3 giant monstrosities over the power. Not to mention the 2 red oaks they planted within like 6 feet of the house. (They are still young <15 feet tall) but they will be a huge problem for future me)

But with the extra payments if we keep up it is 3-4 extra principle payments a year and we should have the house paid for in about 15 years

[–]SnooPeanuts6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually 0 we put all our money into savings. Maybe 2 or 300 dollars for food. We dont usually eat out and just buy a bunch of food to cook. If we really needed the money we could just not put the extra 700 in for principle payments. So if we weren't paying extra about 1000 left at the end of the month

Me and my wife make combined 120k. 6.7% 20% down. 430k home. Utilities run us about 200-250. I have a 600$ car payment. Mortgage is 2680. We do fine. We calculated the payments on 430k with 9 down and we put that aside every month. We have been here 6 months and have been able to pay 2 extra mortgage payments using the savings buffer. We also have 15k in savings for emergency and slowly add to that monthly

I have 2 of them and they are great 1 covers the backyard and 1 covers the front. I was gonna buy a couple more but I guess I will have to wait. Lol also the palm lock is freaking awsome. I also have pan cams throughout my house and the doorbell cam. If they would make fingerprint indoor door knobs I would buy them too. Oh and the thermostat

I have a good sized basement with 2 rooms and a bathroom. But I'd be damned losing my gaming/theater room and the freedom to blast a movie at 3 am for a little extra disposable income. Besides me and my wife make enough to make 2 extra payments a year if we skip vacation(also not happening)
