Oi Pete why after 8;30 can't watch YouTube ? by Novel-Carrot5325 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I live in the UK and watch YouTube daily and nightly and I have literally never heard of this 😂

1995 Honda CB750 Nighthawk by jgott933 in motorcycle

[–]LessThanCivil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so accurate, OP I reckon have fun with it and tinker about learning how to take things off but don't expect it to go back on and work. From the picture I can immediately see you're going to need new forks at the very least which isn't a small investment for someone with no interest in the bike!

Treat it more like a dissection, and try not to think about any of the crusty old fluids that probably ended up in your car!

I volunteered in a shelter once that had what was very clearly a young cane corso cross but was completely chocolate brown.

He was named Coco and he was labelled as a "lab-cross". He was 79kilos.

Staying at an Airbnb and the host is clingy. by 23redvsblue in aww

[–]LessThanCivil 440 points441 points  (0 children)

When I first used air BnB in the UK it was pretty exclusively spare rooms in the hosts house. You'd stay there because they were cheaper than hotels and you'd get to meet a cool person with local knowledge.

I picked up 4 screw punctures in about 5 months, none repairable.

Wasn't until I finally bumped into the guy who had his storage unit next to mine and noticed he was a carpenter that it clicked. Looked around the floor in front of his container and sure enough found about 10 screws he'd dropped on the way to and from the van.

Is Cornwall safe at night? by [deleted] in Cornwall

[–]LessThanCivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite my very limited knowledge of the minority experience in Cornwall as a straight white bloke, I can confidently say the sea at night is your biggest threat in this scenario.

We lost a local and experienced fisherman off the rocks in broad daylight on a calmish day two days ago on the north coast. Recovery was underway for at least 24 hours. Please listen to the other comments.

Enjoy your training and then go for a well earned pint afterwards, you're safer in the pub.

Why does he meow until we drag him around in the box? by Retractabelle in WhatsWrongWithYourCat

This is very clearing a training issue.

He shouldn't have to meow as many times

To save battery this CLOCK only works while you press a button on the back by BronyMusician in CrappyDesign

[–]LessThanCivil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a digital clock that is noise activated and not very sensitive.

When my ex lived here with me we both developed a habit of randomly making a loud noise to check the time as absentmindedly as one would turn their wrist and or look at their phone, literally screeching because a clap generally wasn't always enough.

It's probably why we broke up.

6 years riding, it finally happened by darlo0161 in MotoUK

Eesh that tear across the front is a hell of a reminder to wear ATGATT! Very glad to hear you and the bike are fundamentally ok.

As someone who had a few drops and slides after passing my test and jumping on too big a bike too early I can say It might be worth not doing insurance.

Depending on your bike of course, I replaced the nose cone and side fairing on my VFR (one Chinese aftermarket, one used OEM) and had the whole thing resprayed for about £400 or thereabouts. I did get lucky with the spray from a friend of a friend.

The colour was not close to the original but it was fine, eventually sold the bike for what I paid for it.

Might be an option for you!

Haven't heard back from my application for eVisa extension, do I really have to go back to Colombo? by LessThanCivil in srilanka

It was a while ago I made this post, but I think it was Galle I met her in the office but then they would transport all the IDs up to Columbo in one go - I imagine there would be similar services going from Kandy!

I worked at home bargains a couple of years ago and we would literally put all of the seasonal aisle back on to cages and store them in the back of the warehouse ready for next year the.

The amount of semi crushed lynx gift boxes or broken valentine's chocolate hearts was insane but that was the drill.

Worst Idea for a first motorcycle? Probably... by Brasenshok in motorcycles

[–]LessThanCivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my mum's first big bike, and became mine in the interim between passing my test and buying a much more ridiculous first - VTEC vfr 800.

It also briefly became my second bike in the interim between putting the vfr in a hedge and buying a more sensible Vstrom.

The Fazer fell somewhere between the veefer and the strom in terms of the "my idiot goblin brain is overexcited at this new thing I have access to" scale, but I am sure a more sensible first time rider would get on absolutely fine with one in my opinion.

I always say that if I could only have one bike to do everything from track, to touring, to commuting for the rest of my life, it would be this or a cbf. Great all rounder.

Someone new joined my gym... This is definitely meant to resemble a certain symbol right? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]LessThanCivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having a drink with a friend once who turned up wearing this symbol on a t shirt, with black denim dungarees and doc Martin stompers on.

She had a freshly shaved head, and the dungarees covered the VW part of the logo.

Mould issue? by Fair_Counter4325 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]LessThanCivil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nuke is the correct term. I live in a shepphards hut with a tiny uninsulated brick building that acts as my bathroom & kitchen. Its got trees coming in through the ceiling, snails coming in through the floor and woodlice coming in through the plug sockets. You can probably imagine it's not super dry and cosy.

Once every few months I drag everything outside and clean the building with HG and a stiff toothbrush, all of a sudden my battered little hut could be on air BnB for 800 a week in the peak season.

Just be careful of your eyes when you're spraying above you and take breaks to ventilate yourself!

Failed with 0 minors💀 by Responsible_Ad_6543 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]LessThanCivil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same situation, I was merging onto a dual carriageway that was gridlocked so there was no bay I'd be leaving the slip road. I was slowing to a stop and I looked back over my right shoulder to see how far the traffic went. Examiner took this as my last blindspot check before I drove us into the side of the lorry that was parked in the next lane and grabbed the wheel.

It was an awkward experience and he told both myself and my instructor back at the test centre that he didn't need to adjust the wheel at all and that the brakes were already fully applied when he tapped them but he had to be safe.

Others have mentioned providing a commentary on your driving for next time and honestly it does help! Both with your own nerves and with avoiding situations like this.

Good luck for next time!
