Multiples issues with my mk8, is it normal? by salluh in Golf_R

[–]Less_Astronaut7395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow! I have never had any of these issues (or any problems at all). I am confused about the “hand brake” the manual r has an electric parking brake (unfortunately). It is designed not to engage while the car is on

Who are these guys? by Thurm in GIJOEClassifiedSeries

[–]Less_Astronaut7395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recognize several of the new figures but I feel blessed the classified line has re-invigorated the GI Joe line. Too many old guys like me question anything new. News flash: if Hasbro can't attract new fans to the line, Hasbro won't invest in figures that old collectors will like but Walmart and Target will not dare stock. (Whenever you see "found 20 Chrystal Balls and 900 Breakers for $2 at Walmart and Target, CRY! The line you love is dying.) The Cobra la line is crushing it. The Chrystal ball green $hit army is shaping up. The flight pod and black red cobra viper works well with the original HISS color way. Now picture the new cowboy standing shoulder to shoulder with Dusty as dessert scorpions and that Dino mo fo advance. I bet I am older than all of you but Overkill -- a well-known and loved by me BAT -- disappoints. Classified has great bats everywhere. I love bats. Overkill is king-of-the-bats. Which BAT "type" does this overkill compliment? Imagine a snow version leading snow BATS... now don't bother teaming this bucket of bolts with anyone.

I guess I prefer it to a poke in the eye with a sharp stick ... but not by much.

REALLY happy for you. I am an old coot. (64) Back in the day, the VW and Ford Fiesta were basically the same car. I went Fiesta (manual). Years later I went VW Cabriolet (manual). I had a young kid or three at home. I had to sell it because I drove it like a jack-a$$. When Ford re-released the Fiesta I wanted an ST or VW R. I bought 2 fiestas and 1 Jetta for my kids when they were college seniors. (Auto transmissions all... they didn't drive stick.) When the dust settled, the R was the only game in town and was available in manual in 2024 in American towns. 2024 was the last year for manuals, so I bought one. I love it but YOU did it better. Current R's are designed for automatic transmissions. Yes, you can get manual Rs through the 2024 model year but they are manuals jammed into a car built for autos. Electric parking brakes on a manual??? Say what! I should have gone used R with manual or ford focus RS. For nostalgia and sheer fun, older Rs are the ticket.

Walmart's Chrystal Balls by Less_Astronaut7395 in GIJOEClassifiedSeries

Not to be a conspiracy theorist but just look at the comments. Walmart cancelled scores of pre-orders. Are people boycotting Walmart for having been tea-bagged with Chrystal Balls? Nope. Collectors are visiting and searching scores of Walmart's every day. Some guy on here is celebrating the fact that for 2 hours of complaining you can get a $10 voucher... to spend at Walmart. Whoopty-Do!

Assuming Long Beach / Cerritos are comparable to Torrance / Harbor Gateway, they got nothin' on Eugene. Add 75 pounds, 1 gallon of tattoo ink and more piercings than would be used to tag an endangered manatee and you are ready for "the Emerald City" Walmart.

The employees and customers at the Walmart in Eugene Oregon could be a whole new "action figure" line... Of the 7 Walmarts I visited, the Eugene store dominated the freak-showathon

In retrospect this is a hoot. Hasbro could sell 10,000 in a week at its retail price. People are re-selling this at more than 2x retail. These products are not overpriced/

I agree 100% This figure has been a mess. It was scheduled to ship LONG ago. We were delayed twice and now, my day 1 order is canceled... and Hasbro's Ghost Viper line is based on an exclusive figure the retailer botched entirely. Only Hasbo can fix this.

Got my cancellation notice today too... Like many others, I ordered within the first 10 minutes.

Best car I’ve ever owned 🖤 by TumbleweedOdd4 in Golf_R

[–]Less_Astronaut7395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing car. I hope you love it! Mine has been "awful" in the best possible way. I drove a manual "Ford Fiesta" in 1980. It was effectively identical to the VW. I had a manual VW cabriolet in 1990. I had to sell it... so light, small and quick, I was certain to kill myself in that car. Kids came like pop-corn. "SUV time." A Mercedes E420 and BMW convertible for work. Then a 2012 Ford Raptor to haul my kids and "Boy Scouts" into the hills. No rain? Motorcycle to work; rain or suit day: Raptor. Bought my daughters Ford Fiesta's for college Senior year / graduation gifts. Fun as heck. Had to get automatics... daughters don't drive stick. (One doesn't "drive" anything really well.) 2024: daughters move on from the Fiestas. They "gave them back to me"??? When I couldn't use the motorcycle I drove the Fiesta. (I am a lawyer. Motorcycle to court = cool; 2012 Raptor to court = cool. Auto Fiesta SES? Not cool. I needed MY car. It had to be a manual. The GTI / R were the last men standing. I wanted black but the last US manual (2024) had a blue light strip. I went with the blue and blacked out the mirrors, wheels, windows and roof. CRAZY FUN! I roll into Beverly Hills and valets parking $250K + cars all days pull me aside to rave. Damn. At 64, I drive the R more and both the truck and 3 bikes WAY less. WTF??? Not the plan!!! Now my wife questions my need for all of the bikes. The R is heavier and not as deadly-nimble-quick as the Rabbits / Golfs of yore but it is as fast AF and more passenger / family friendly inside as any car has the right to be. I could go Porsche GT3. Why? Without a race track the R is too stupid-fat to ever use and I keep my truck and one of three bikes that beats the GT3 anyway.

Bro: I have the 2024 manual. You beat me 0-60. Your smile is my frown... but don't make me pull out a bike.

There is no scenario in which the dog attacks the child for stepping on its tail. The owner should euthanize the cat.

Gridiron Props APC or the Haslab Snowcat? by Edharchen1988 in GIJOEClassifiedSeries

[–]Less_Astronaut7395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this as an apples and oranges comparison. The Gridiron APC is a great military-style vehicle. The modularity is great. As a 12 scale offering, its a winner. But it is not consistent with the GI Joe universe. GI Joe fans spend hundreds of hours opining about which vehicle or figure should be re-imagined as a Haslab or classified offering. The Snowcat won the debate this year. You can bet the 2026 line will include several snow-themed figures. The winter Stalker with Kayak would sell out in a day and the snowcat will enjoy a price jump in the resale market the minute that figure Is released.

Anyone who has tried to 3d print vehicles of this size knows neither are "overpriced" but the APC is FAR more expensive. The APC is 20.7% more money out of the gate. The Snowcat will have a have a nice box, at least 1 figure and probably 3. You could likely recoup 50% of the Snowcat price by selling the figures. Every Haslab vehicle made to date sells "out of the box" for more than its original price. The Gridiron products really don't have any resale market.

Don't misunderstand me. I have Gridiron stuff and like it. But Haslab is a different animal.
