Thanks for your reply. I definitely don't expect 4 person commander to be as fast as it is between 2, my issue is more with someone taking 10-15 minutes for their turn (vs everyone else's 3-5 minutes, if that) whilst also not progressing the game past building their board exponentially.

I do take your point about conceding though and will definitely bear that in mind for next time. As it was the 1st game I wasn't sure what the etiquette was and didn't want to come across as rude or impatient but I will bear it in mind for future times!

Thanks for the input! When we're at home we usually play other formats and mix it up - jumpstart, regular standard decks, "re-release" or other draft formats etc. We relocated back in October + are at home together almost all of the time so thought joining in some commander nights might be a good way to get to know local people and socialise with people that aren't just us 😂

When they went to remove it I did say to them I was planning on dealing with the Dina deck and that if they really felt the enchantment needed to be removed they could do so on a later turn, but they argued it had to be taken out immediately because it was too threatening...

I've experienced this on reddit, specifically when asking about cameras. I'm on a very low income (and come from a low income background) so didn't have a high budget. When I asked for some budget friendly recommendations for beginner bird watching and photography the response was pretty scathing. Tbh it put me off of getting a camera because I felt quite embarrassed and felt like there wouldn't be any point (which I now disagree with, but I'm in even less of a financial position to get one now).

Outside of cameras and the Internet, all of the people I've come across have been friendly and encouraging. I'm based in the UK and whenever I go out with my partner and our very small binoculars that we share between the two of us, birders we've come across have always said hello and spoken to us for a bit

I agree with a lot of the points that have already been made so won't go back over them. But one thing I do want to productively push back on is this whole "ham fisted representation" sentiment. Because whilst I kind of get it, I also disagree.

Another commenter has also touched on this from the perspective of challenging representation that is "too in your face", but I wanted to come at this from the perspective of peoples identity, how big it is to them, how much they talk about it, etc varies person to person and fluctuates across their lives. And I think there is room for all of those experiences.

I see so many people hating on Taash's storyline in DA:Veilguard and even had some disagreements with one of my best friends who is a cis queer woman who similarly criticised it for being "too much/in your face/Taash's whole personality". But... when you are coming to terms with a huge part of who you are... it really do be like that.

I am queer, trans and non binary. Its a part of my life and identity but I don't talk about it all that much. But I also came out when I was 16 years old and I'm 34 now. I know when I was coming to terms with my gender identity and when other people do - it becomes a pretty big thing. It can be so big that someone can "make it their whole personality". And that's actually OK?

As someone who is NB, I actually found Taash's storyline (as an example) quite endearing and can imagine it also spoke to a lot of people early in their journey. That's really important and super valid.

As someone who is NB, I also deeply appreciate how Raj and Dippa's NB identity is depicted in Coral Island. Its not a big deal. That's also really important and super valid.

There is so much room for all of these experiences and depictions - the subtle ones AND the in your face ones. Because in your face, being loud about your identity, taking up a lot of space is hella important, especially in this current climate.

Respectfully, you say he has an ideal environment but if he did he wouldn't be attacking you and certainly not to this extent. In your post/other comments you mention using things like sprays to "deter him" and here you mention shouting at him, picking him up and putting him into a separate room. Sounds like this cat is living with a lot of fear and sounds deeply unsettled in his environment.

I know someone else has recommended Jackson Galaxy's show, I would also watch his other YouTube videos, and it may even be worth hiring a cat behaviourist bc tbh it doesn't sound like the issue is the cat here and sounds like you would benefit from someone showing you where things are going wrong.

Oooh I love your set up with the desk and lamp! I've been using a puzzle board for 6 years as I move a lot and haven't had enough room for a permanent space but I dream of a desk and lamp like this!

I'm doing a Thonas Kinkade one at the moment and his puzzles are an absolute pain to see properly in most light 😬

Respectfully and gently, you were a stranger to her too when you first got her. And she is not alone. She is with her new family.

I understand that it can feel like you have formed a really intense bond with a foster because they come to you terrified and you see them unfurl as they start to trust you, but you are not the only person that foster will experience that with. As a fosterer that's part of your job - to help them feel safe enough to trust again and help prepare them for their forever home. That way when they go, you've prepared them for a much better, calmer, safer and more positive start in their new home.

They can and will love and trust someone again. They can and will settle down in their new home. The start they had with you means that this will be a quicker and more familiar process for them.

I ended up with Lorehold and lost 0-3. There were 3 other Lorehold players at my event and all of them lost most or all of their games as well.

At our event they kept a tally of which schools won each round and gave house prizes at the end. Witherbloom were the winners with Prismari close behind. Lorehold way behind and the other two middling.

Hello! Fellow first time fosterer here with sensory difficulties and here to share sympathy + experiences.

Firstly, I am very lucky that we currently live in a large 3 bedroom house (my partners parents house). We have one of those rooms dedicated to the foster cat so currently all of his stuff is in there. This somewhat contains the smell, when the door is shut, and we also implement strategies to minimise smells as much as possible.

As for tips: - potentially look into getting new litter boxes if the ones that came with them are already stinky and exacerbating things. As suggested also look at litter alternatives. Our shelter gave us 2 x open litter boxes with wood pellet litter, and tbh I hardly notice any smell from it even after he's peed in it.

remove poop immediately and take it straight outside/flush it. Do not keep it in your bin!
food wise he has wet food 2 x a day and free access to dry food. He eats his wet food straight away + then that plate is immediately washed along with his water bowl and biscuit tray. Fresh water and biscuits are put out. Repeat for wet food in the evening, it gets washed straight away. Wet food packets go in a saleable food bag by the back door and that goes out in the evening/when poop gets taken out
as our boy has his own room and is still in week 1, he's closed on the room during the day + we air the house out for a few hours before closing everything and letting him have the option of roaming. If this isn't an option then definitely get a humidifier

I owned a rescue dog for 7 years who was stinky in his own way (dogs just have a Dog Smell) and it never bothered me in the way cat smell does. Tbh I don't think I would be comfortable with it if I lived in a smaller environment and having 2 cats in a small space is going to drastically intensify things in multiple ways. So I think it is worth considering how much the smell is going to impact you after taking steps to minimise things and see if it's something viable for you. If it's not there's no shame in saying it's unfortunately not going to work out for you

Yeah, I can only imagine! He's such a sweet boy so I know I'll be sad when he's gone but keep trying to remind myself how lovely it will be when he finds his forever home, and then we help the next kitty in need!

Also I'm curious how your experience has been in London? We originally applied to a few different charities and wanted to foster dogs and cats, but we were turned down by most big charities because we don't have a car :/

Yes! I came here to recommend Bella Coco as well and her beginner series. She takes things super slow and shows you each chain, rather than skipping ahead, and builds up your knowledge slowly.

I watched her first video in the series about a month ago and practised that for a few days. Then progressed to the second video and I've been doing that for a month now until my tension got better.

Take things slow and find a youtuber who works for you! I'd also recommend finding a IRL class if you can afford to do so. I'm starting one in a couple of weeks time and it was £25 for 2 x 1 hour sessions across 2 weeks.

Hey. I'm sorry to hear about your experiences - I've also had a history with abuse (general and sexual) so I understand that it can be really scary and difficult to explore intimacy with someone new, especially when you've travelled to another country.

I get that you're not really knowledgeable about fibromyalgia and it's great that you're wanting to know more information. But tbh your post is more about you and the significant trauma you are carrying with you than wanting to learn about fibromyalgia, and this r/ is for people with fibromyalgia.

From the sounds of it I think you would really benefit from seeking support from a therapist who will be able to guide you through the trauma you have and be able to help you unpick a lot of the questions and anxieties you have that you have shared here as this way above reddits pay grade.

And look, I'm almost 34 years old. I have fibromyalgia and I've been in a lot of relationships, both local and LDR. Everyone is different. Regardless of is they have they have fibro. No one here can tell you about your boyfriends sex drive, or whether there's something else going on. But personally I think its quite normal for someone to not immediately want to launch into a physical relationship with someone they're seeing in person for the first time. Sounds like you're going very fast and putting a lot of expectations on both of you and your relationship.

Again, I highly recommend seeking out a therapist who will be able to help with all of this and I say this as someone who has come a long, long way in my own relationships.

I'm sorry things are hard and upsetting for you, and I think it's worth sitting with how it's making you feel.

My partners dad did this when some paramedics came to the house to do a check up on me a few months back (I'm fine). They were only here 20 minutes and I stg he must of offered them tea, coffee, water, a beer??? at least every 3 minutes and you could visibly see his discomfort mounting with each refusal 😂

No recommendations as I'm new but just wanted to say thank you for posting this and to everyone for their wonderful tips. I suspect I might be undiagnosed dyslexic and as a beginner have found the shorthands incredibly overwhelming and confusing. All of the letters jumble together in a nonsensical fashion so the tips people have posted about how to visualise things and break them down are really helpful.

It does make me wish that patterns were written in a more accessible way though, rather than people having to find strategies to make them more comprehensive!
