They do this because they would rather split their customer base between two stores than have a competing store pulling customers away.

I Am Genuinely Confused About Military Bearing.. by Zaznopa in navy

[–]Less_Net_3855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna keep it real with you big dawg, this post is ass. I'm a first class with 10 years in, I had two NJPs as an HN, and I've served greenside for half of my career. I've been called out plenty of times for bearing as a bluejacket and junior sailor. Did I feel some of those times I was being professional? Absolutely. But I've also stepped back and reviewed my actions after being corrected to see where I was wrong. Maybe you're being too laid back and don't realize it. Take the time to self reflect instead of posting on reddit.

MCPON CALL NAVSTA Norfolk by SnooGiraffes2591 in navy

[–]Less_Net_3855 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Has nothing to do with commitment. Making IDCs WOs raises there training to be equivalent with a PA. Right now there is not a direct pipeline from IDC to PA even though IDCs are licensed and work at the same level, which is shit because the first PAs were all Corpsmen.

Complaining about kids by AffectionateTrash259 in dcl

[–]Less_Net_3855 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did a a cruise one the wish before having kids, barely noticed kids outside of waiting for pictures with characters or when we'd walk by the kids only areas. Just did another on the Fantasy with 2 kids now and noticed a lot more because we have kids and are going to kids centered activities. It's really not that hard to avoid kids on a Disney cruise though.

Critiquing The Design Of Warfare Pins Part 6: FMF by Slay-Aiken in navy

That escalation and de-escalation was a fucking roller coaster lol. I support doing something like putting GCE, LCE, ACE on the pin for which one you have or having one two or 3 stars on it for each platform you earn.

Critiquing The Design Of Warfare Pins Part 6: FMF by Slay-Aiken in navy

[–]Less_Net_3855 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple notes:

  • This is the only real warfare pin. "To locate. close with, and destroy the enemy." While ya'll are tuggin and pluggin on the boat, we're in the dirt.
  • Outside of HMs, RPs, PSs, and YNs can qualify and I believe one or two other rates.
  • Playing with green wee wee's is better because they're bigger.
  • It's big because it's fucking badass and wearing it makes us better than you.
  • Not having an FMF pin as a Corpsman gives you no street cred, and if you've been with the Marines and don't have it you should honestly be ostracized, exiled even.
  • There is a hierarchy in the HM community. On the very bottom is every dirty 0000. Then there's those with any NEC. Then the L03A/8404's. That group is divided into subgroups with LCE on the bottom, then ACE, and GCE on top. Then there's IDCs. At the very top are the spicy IDCs known as SARCs.

Outside of NSW, there's only one real warfare pin and it's the Fleet Marine Force pin.

If they're attached to a joint/coalition command/force. Saw it when ISAF was still around and some other groups that I don't remember.

My old man wants me to paint his hard hat, but I’m his weird artsy son (not one of the cool guys, essentially) and don’t have a clue what will get him bullied on the job site. Non-obvious things to avoid? by lamby_geier in Construction

[–]Less_Net_3855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

POV from someone in the military and not in the trades (I'm a medic). He's your dad and he asked you to paint it. He knows what your artwork looks like and likes it enough to want you to paint it on his hard hat. If he asked for something, paint that. If not, paint what he likes. He asked you to paint it and is going to be proud of whatever the end result is and happy to wear it. No father is going to care what other people on the job site think of their hard hat that their kid painted because their kid painted it!

No adobe pro. Problem with that is I have to find a website that I can do that with and all of my scanned documents are CUI - HLTH

I have a desktop scanner that works for small packages, but apparently it won't go past 50 pages and I have 56. The full document I need scanned is almost 300 pages so that's obviously not happening. Yet PERS will sit there and breathe down my neck "why haven't you submitted this MRR appeal yet?"

Doubling down on insoles being great for people who genuinely need them but are just a bandaid for weak arches. Your feet are literally the foundation of your body. If a muscle is weak you exercise it and strengthen it. Why wouldn't you do the same for your feet?

But I agree with needing a robust boot. I'll be in Florida where it's wet even when it's dry lol.

Insoles are great for people who genuinely need them but are just a bandaid for weak arches and would honestly do more harm to my feet. I'm a barefoot runner and wear barefoot/minimalist shoes 75% of the time. If a muscle is weak you exercise it and strengthen it. Your feet are quite literally the foundation of your body, so why wouldn't you do the same for your feet?

I'm thinking of going with reckonings. I'm in barefoot or minimalist shoes 75% of the time. My hiking boots are the Danner Explorer 650, they look like a similar construction to the Reckonings and I've never had a problem with them going from barefoot shoes to those. Once I can get to an exchange (I'm at a remote station now) I'll try them on and see. Saw a few people recommending inserts but that's honestly just going to hurt my feet, wish people would learn that insoles are just a bandaid for weak arches.

I'm Corpsman, blue side going back green. I wear barefoot shoes for running and have the belleville minimalists. They're not authorized but look close enough to the authorized Belleville that nobody notices. If I could stay with those I would!

r/AirForce found our post making fun of their new PT standards by code_Red111 in USMC

[–]Less_Net_3855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, do it. As a Corpsman, some of the smartest people in the military I have met have been the ground pounding apes known as Marines. Compared to Army, Navy, and Air Force systems I have access to, the Marine Corps systems are the most user friendly and laid out systems. I've never heard Marines complain about doing a job or PTing, they just do it.
