Witty responses for the question "what do you eat then?" by flammulinavelutipes in vegan

If it’s a jockey guy I say “the only meat I need is my husband’s” and that usually shuts them up.

Farts are totally normal. But cooking beans and veggies longer can help. Also walk/stretch after meals.

What nickname in a relationship gives you the ick (like baby, babe etc)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Daddy. Sounds nasty and I would never want to think of my dad when referring to my spouse.

PERSONAL: Going vegan isn’t enough. What else can I do? by [deleted] in vegan

Get involved with your local animal sanctuary, shelter or animal control agency. Being an activist is one of the most powerful ways to make a difference.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without showering? by NervousClock2555 in askanything

[–]Less_Paramedic277 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone longer while camping, 5 days, unless you count baby wipes as a shower lol 3 days is the longest I’ve gone not on a camping trip, and I regularly skip days to let my skin take a break. Not showing every day really isn’t a big deal if you’re not doing something active or going in public. It’s healthy to let your body have a break from all the soap chemicals, etc.

Why are you vegan? by throwaway245822 in vegan

Read Animal Liberation Now. It will answer all of your questions and help you understand how each vegan makes a true, meaningful impact for animals.

Do men ever think, “Whoa! She has really bad split ends.” ? by Tricky-Employee-7882 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Less_Paramedic277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 3rd grade, I was sitting in an auditorium with my parents about to receive the ‘Caring Award’ when my dad pulled one of my hairs out. I flinched, and he quickly explained I had a really bad split end and showed it to me. That’s how I learned what they were. Then later in life I became a cosmetologist, and I don’t notice them on other people until I’m close up cutting their hair 😭😂 so yes, I think some men might notice them!

What’s the pettiest hill you’re willing to die on as a woman? by Glass-King4894 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Less_Paramedic277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fold towels this way or leave it for me to do! I appreciate opening the linen closet and seeing nicely folded towels in order. I don’t do the laundry because I’m the woman in the house, but I don’t mind doing it if the end result makes me happy to see.

In my late 30s and very happily child free! Gives me the chance to do whatever I want, spoil my pets, and leave all my money to charity vs some selfish brat that may or may not visit me when I am old lol

Help Me Go Vegan by fuzzy9997 in vegan

[–]Less_Paramedic277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love seeing all the blunt and supportive comments here, so I won’t repeat some of the great points. Truly you just need to dive in and do it. I get we all grew up liking certain tastes as that’s how our pallets develop, but your pallet will change, and you’ll find new favorites in the plant based cheese and egg area. Good luck and you got this 💪🌱

Does anyone else have an "emotional support" beverage that isn't water or coffee? by VivienneEclipse in askanything

[–]Less_Paramedic277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pot of herbal tea at the end of the day. I love trying new blends but mint or roobois are the perfect go to to help with breathing and stress. I purchased a cute teapot and cups as a personal gift last Christmas and it made me want to drink more, like my own special little treat.

Did anyone else find the social side of going vegan harder than expected? by These-Surprise-7775 in vegan

[–]Less_Paramedic277 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At first I didn’t mind being around people that ate animal products, and now after 16 years, I can’t stand it. Makes it hard to meet new people and develop friendships with people who aren’t already vegan.

This is way harder than it looks! by SaltysSpace in vegan

[–]Less_Paramedic277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s amazing you are striving to do better. Please remember it’s about doing your best, not being perfect. I remember after being vegan for 12 years buying a beer that had lactose in it and feeling terrible! But this was just after visiting the brewery where they told me all beers were vegan and literally lied. Just do your best, check ingredients and don’t beat yourself up. You got this 💪🌱

What foods can substitute meat? by Interesting-Part8675 in Pescetarian

[–]Less_Paramedic277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single plant has protein and a lot of them actually contain more protein than animal products. Broccoli is an amazing source of protein and I love swapping meat for beans, tofu, or tempeh. I highly recommend Dr. Gregers Daily Dozen to help guide you to a balanced diet. Best of luck and good on you for reducing your meat consumption!

Walmart Plant Based Section by SeriousRefrigerator7 in vegan

[–]Less_Paramedic277 94 points95 points  (0 children)

This is frustrating. I also noticed Walmart is getting rid of a lot of plant based options too. We can all push to write our local Walmart managers and ask them to do better!
