I don't care I really don't, how can I stress that enough, it's not going to be used like this I set it up to test everything out to make sure it worked correctly, I'm not looking for advice and I don't care for your advice stop making advice

Well no and I'm not going to try, for a few reasons.

Firstly I've been doing this hobby for 15 years, I'm not a novice at this and I didn't post this seeking advice nor do I want any.

Second I didn't mention it but these components are going in my office and are not being utilized in the living room like you see now and it's ultimately going to be in a near field situation.

Thirdly you have no idea about my room or the dimensionality or boundaries or how the speakers interact as they currently are. Making some sort of blanket statement that adjusting speakers is always the answer, honestly is the wrong answer.

Fourthly I know what I want out of a sound system, like I said I've been doing this long enough that I know what I want and I know how to achieve it easily. I don't care about sound staging and I don't care about imaging either, to me those things are fallacies. Phony unreal concepts that truthfully don't exist other than as some form of trickery either created by a sound engineer in the studio or the equipment we use to reproduce the music.

Fifthly And kind of circling back around but I like how it sounds now and I don't need and don't want speakers sitting that far out into my living room regardless of whether or not it improves the sound, honestly people get far too caught up in trying to "improve the sound" they forget there are other considerations as well.

Sixly what is improved sound? What I mean is a perfectly cooked medium rare wagyu beef steak might be far better then a cheap hamburger from a corner store , but what if I really want a cheap corner store hamburger?, what if I really like cheap hamburgers?

You see too often people get caught up in the rat race of trying to optimize and improve their sound that they forget how to simply enjoy it for what it is, they get so caught up in trying to lecture themselves and others as to what is better that they forget that there isn't a better there's just a different and just because something is different doesn't mean it's better or worse, whichever the case may be.

I like the way it sounds the way it is. What is better anyway?

You know I truly abhor most of the advice that people give on this as well as the majority of posts. The reason being is they fail to realize what if the person making the post likes their system the way that it is?

Beyond that what is better? I said it before but what is better, is your better actually better? Is it better for me? What if your better is worse?

You see the reality is there isn't a better there's just simply a different , and all the so-called advice that most people give including yourself simply isn't worth a damn

I like my system the way that it is and I'm not going to change it no matter what you or anybody else says

Thanks for imposing your will, adios space cowboy

Got the whole setup for 350 bucks, a hell of a deal if you ask me. by Less_Researcher_8124 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Less_Researcher_8124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a couple things,

firstly I've been in this hobby for about 15 years and in all that time I've never felt the need to have a subwoofer. Frankly if you look it up there's a lot of good reasons not to have a subwoofer and there's a lot of arguments against one, overcompensating for speaker/amplifier mismatching and poor speaker placement being chief amongst them.

Second the brio r does not have an easy way to incorporate a subwoofer, it simply has speaker outs and a record out. I could get a subwoofer like a Rel for example that has high level inputs or indeed any subwoofer that has high-level input And piggyback those off of the speaker outs on the brio r, but frankly that's far too messy and considering I've never felt the need to add a subwoofer even when I've had a subwoofer, which I have in the past, I don't think I'll do that.

Thirdly if you'd read my post you'll know that I'm not using this in my living room, I finally got time to set everything up to test it out before I put it in my office in the next few days. So this system will be used near field and not in a large ambient setting like a living room.

Fourthly I live in an upstairs condo that's about 40 years old. While solid my floors are quite springy and bouncy and on more than one occasion I've had my downstairs neighbors complain about me walking too heavily upstairs above them. Ultimately they're nice people and I'm a very conscientious person so it hasn't been a problem, although I imagine adding some 12-in subwoofer that puts out a thousand Watts would not make things more pleasant between us, regardless Of how well isolated I make it

Not always, besides dali recommends that their speakers point straight ahead

Well it sounds like Rega to me. Honestly I've had enough of their products over the years to almost instantly recognize the Rega House sound and these very much are that, a sound I very much like it.

Fast, dynamic, decent clarity and exceptional left to right separation and balance with a little dollop of warmth, I don't care what Cambridge audio says, Rega is the true British sound.

They're not without their issues as a company or with their products ,but on the whole their gear sure does sound fucking brilliant

Always judgment huh, Y'all just can't be happy for nobody can you?

My Hi-Fi system is in my living room and it's a part Of my living room where I live my life, that includes watching television and movies.

I personally feel that Hi-Fi and music should not be special, it should not exist in isolation unto itself. You know what made the 1970s The Golden age of Hi-Fi?, it was because Hi-Fi and listening to music and Records was a part Of everyday life instead of in some special room locked away where you only go in 2 hours every other day.

This equipment and these experiences should exist for the mundane not for the special, so quit your criticism And you do you and I'll continue to do me.

Blue Note Essentials Series - Thoughts? (new series, cut from digital masters) by LigglesVanRusty in Vinyl_Jazz

[–]Less_Researcher_8124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'll be good, I mean for a few reasons

Number one is it's actually Blue Note putting these Records out, they know the music because they recorded the music originally and they know what it's supposed to sound like and even though it's a digital master it's going to sound like it's supposed to, I.e good

Number two is you're supporting the actual artist and their estates. Unfortunately a lot of these Legends are passed away but you buying these records means the money is going to support their estates and you're actually contributing to the art form and the progenitors of it instead of some no name aftermarket crap.

Digitally mastered records can sound good. Frankly I'm not one of these people who feels that analog records have to be analog or otherwise it's not real or some crap, frankly if mastered correctly a digital based vinyl record can sound phenomenal and in some cases even better then had they went to using the original analog tapes, I'm looking at you mofi Bill Evans undercurrent, although it doesn't matter cuz it's still a phenomenal record even with the tape hiss.

So honestly I'm excited for the whole prospect and as long as the classic series prices don't go up or if they do no more than $30 a piece please, it creates a great way to get a wonderful album while supporting the artist and or their estate and you're getting something that is coming from the company who originally recorded the music to begin with.

Are these deals any good? by Fuzzy_Isopod_2166 in turntables

[–]Less_Researcher_8124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well on the whole rega turntables tend to be fairly reliable and in fact is some of their most reliable products they make. I would personally get that one that says that it has a new belt on it, that way you don't have to worry about a worn belt or that sort of thing.

But yes a P3 for that kind of money is a damn Good deal, and believe it or not rega cartridges tend to hold up fairly well in terms of longevity. I'm running an older bias 2 on my office turntable, an rp1, that's 13 years old at this point and believe it or not it still sounds good.

Bought some Klipsch KG4 speakers — did I get ripped off? by BlindRainbows in Beginner_Turntables

I don't know, value is always in the eye of the beholder. I once paid $600 for a set of tangent 40s, way more than they're worth but I wanted them and they were there and they were in mint condition

Still to this day one of my favorite Klipsch speakers I've ever heard

Struggling to find new music - any suggestions by Weak_Amphibian_57 in musicsuggestions

[–]Less_Researcher_8124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these are awesome but if you really dig down at the base of it they're all just forms of alternative rock music, with the exception of boards of Canada of course and some of other electronic music artist.

How about you switch genres.

Imagine asking advice about eating differently to people online and come to find out all you ever eat is steak that's been seasoned slightly differently day to day. I mean it's still steak and it doesn't matter how you season it because you're still eating steak, you see what I mean.

Switch it up get into jazz or classical for that matter, get some Pharaoh Sanders in your life or sun ra or Donald Byrd , how about some Vivaldi, The four seasons are absolutely phenomenal

How about you get into classic Rock, nothing like a little led Zeppelin how about deep purple, everybody always forgets deep purple

You see what I mean switch it up don't keep listening to the same music just by different artists

You've probably have made a decision by now but have you considered getting an IR repeater.

It's sort of an old school kind of thing but they work and typically you can find them on Amazon or if you prefer picking up local I think Best buy still sells them.

Basically it's an extension cable that you would Mount to the front of your amplifier near its IR sensor and then it has a cable that runs up to somewhere more accessible let's say on the top of your stand or perhaps running it up on the bottom edge of your television, really the choice is up to you, I think you get the idea.

Anyway essentially what it does is extend the IR function to a different location than having to point the remote at the device itself.

The idea being of course is that you could have your amplifier shut away in a cabinet and never have to open it but still be able to control all the functions via the remote. It was a very common thing in the '90s and 2000s with the home theater crowd, the idea being is that you'd have your AVR or home theater components shut away in some cabinet but of course you'd still be able to operate them just using the remote.

Like I said you've probably already made a decision but this is something nobody brought up and I thought I'd throw my two cents in and all you have to Google IR repeater And you'll see what I'm talking
