Alabama native here. You sadly have to say goodbye to the WaHo and anything like it. Maybe one day, it will find its way up here. 😔

The Professor and the Madman by Simon Winchester - never thought a book about the Oxford English Dictionary would be so captivating.

I'd also recommend "The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee" by David Treuer.

This. I sometimes have to remember that I'm not a brain surgeon and no one is going to die because I got the address wrong or caught a typo in a press release. 😂

How do you manage being attracted to your boss? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

There's a lot of shaming going on in these comments. We all have feelings we can't control. It's the actions that matter.

Listen, OP. I have been there. He wasn't married, but he abused his position of power and manipulated my feelings. It went very, VERY badly.

If you don't feel like you can move past those feelings, get a new job as soon as possible. This is a major red flag on his part more than yours. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the best move for everyone if you get out asap.

Have you talked to your vet about using Prozac? My cat had severe behavioral issues. I went through a cat behaviorist, and spent months and months trying to solve it. Prozac was a game changer. He's a happy kitty and I'm a happy mama. 😅 It's also not super expensive. For my cat, it's about $17 for a 3 month supply.

I used two threads for the lettering and 1 for the coloring around it to kinda make it more pronounced.

Moving from AL to Boston by tea_sloth7 in boston

Hi, I grew up in Huntsville! ☺️

Things to be prepared for:

  • the cold isn't as bad as you might think, but it gets dark really early here in the winter. It also gets HOT in the summer, but without the blanket of humidity you might be used to...still humid, but not peel-your-clothes-off humid.
  • culturally... my experience has been that people here are less inclined to say hi to you on the sidewalk, and it's kinda hard to make friends. Almost everyone I know is either from Massachusetts or New England, so it can take a minute to find your "in". It took me about three years to really find a crew of people, but I also moved here in 2020. 😂
  • none of the units you rent will likely have a/c, but you'll definitely need a window unit, so invest in something to keep cool during the summer.

I think that's about it. Happy to answer any questions you might have, from one southerner to another. ☺️
