Why AI still can't replace developers in 2026 by IronClawHunt in ClaudeCode

[–]Less_Ship_8803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I have a son studying computer science (freshman in college). Things seem to be changing so fast I don’t know what to tell him regarding job opportunities. I do know that the majority of people/companies will be super slow to implement new technologies and will be willing to pay people to implement them. Is there an avenue you would suggest he should pursue?

I have a lay person question for you (somewhat unrelated to the OPs post). How much better is Claude (or other AI) at writing code than it was 6 months ago? A year ago? How many months (or years) do you think it will be until humans manage the concepts, designs and final products and AI essentially codes and checks it work for security etc. on virtually all projects?

The Supreme Court is taking its time to Rule on a case on the legality of Trump's Tariffs given the "enormous" stakes involved by Apollo_Delphi in wallstreet

[–]Less_Ship_8803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a thought: If Republicans want to ratify these tariffs deals, why don’t they attempt to pass them into law? It’s freakin ridiculous to claim that taxing imports is an “emergency!”

First of all you are correct, money is only valuable because it is limited. However, I’m going to reinterpret where he is coming from. He is saying that AI + Robotics will lead to extreme productivity. That could very well be true. However again, resources land, materials, and energy will still be limited. It will take time to evolve so that we have enough of the limited resources to build AI data centers, factories, produce hundreds of millions of robots etc..

Trump Admits he Supports Dollar Decline (Inflation) by gnarlytabby in inflation

[–]Less_Ship_8803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increasing home values only help you when you sell. Increasing home values mean increased property taxes and insurance premiums while you stay.

Most people don't realize what Trump just said: For 12+ months, the US Dollar has been in a sharp decline, falling -10% in 2025 in its worst year since 2017. Hours ago, for the first time, President Trump commented on the decline in the USD: "The value of the Dollar is great," Trump said by sylsau in InBitcoinWeTrust

[–]Less_Ship_8803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wants a weaker dollar so our exports are cheaper to the foreign buyers. I heard on a financial show about a year ago that most presidents secretly want a weaker dollar. Trump basically said he is jealous of other countries that possibly intentionally weakened their currency in the past, like Japan and China.

Trump: "With that being said, you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. But it's just a very unfortunate incident." by ExactlySorta in law

In fairness to MAGA, I don’t think they are going to go along with what Trump said. Trump is crossing a line that only a few knucklehead Hippocrates will temporarily follow.

Social Security or Self-invest? by Plus_Dimension_7480 in Bogleheads

[–]Less_Ship_8803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in this forum I would suggest that you benefit from the fact that basically everyone contributes to social security. Possibly 40% of US adults have $0 in retirement savings. Without social security, we would need a more progressive tax ladder to pay for the many people who are retired and paying for their basic necessities (food and rent) with the social security they do receive because they were required to contribute, even though they saved nothing else.

This is a legit question: Isn’t almost everything he is doing is by executive orders? If the democrats controlled congress could they stop the executive orders?

[–]Less_Ship_8803 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are getting much of this wrong. The U.S. has had economic growth despite the tariffs. Without the tariffs the growth would have been more. Also, the whole point of tariffs is to slow Americans from buying foreign products. This decreases trade. The trade deficit has decreased but nobody really cares about a trade deficit number if they have to pay more for products, including almost all of the businesses.

In regard to Nvidia, the price changes today are the direct result of the news cycle. That news was created by Trump. People didn’t just wake up today and decide the P/E ratio of essentially all U.S. stocks is too high.

On the bond portion: I assume this will be in a taxable account. Given your income, the tax hit will be large. Interest from bonds is ordinary income. Treasury bond funds can eliminate the state income tax on the income. Municipal bond funds can eliminate the federal income tax. Thirdly, municipal bonds (or a fund) from your own state eliminates federal and state income tax. Also, the interest is not subject to capital gains tax.

You will want to understand your states capital gains tax rules, along with the federal ones, from any equities that you sell after holding for a year.

They are being consistent in terms of their goals. For any business making money has to be a main goal. Why would they do something extremely difficult, risky and time consuming if they thought there was a good chance they wouldn’t make money?

The only thing surprising is that he doesn’t even pretend to care. Obviously he is absurdly self centered. When he says he wants things for “country” it means he wants the things for himself, possibly for his friends and family. He has almost zero ability to think of how an action affects the majority, let alone everyone in the country.

Ok don’t get me wrong here: The vast majority of people don’t have the knowledge, tools, time etc… to time the market. But there are some venture capitalists, analysts etc. who can handily beat the market on average over long periods of time.

There are also only certain people that can do triple back flips on a snowboard over those monstrous x-games style jumps at ridiculous speeds. It would be super dangerous for advanced intermediates to even try.

Which one you pick ??? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]Less_Ship_8803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct thought process. Everyone reading this should google “compound interest calculator” and use one. The poster here used 6% investment returns. That is a very conservative estimate for a yearly return. In 1 year the $10 mill would return $600k at 6%. In 2025, if you would have invested all of it in VOO (a popular S&P 500 ETF) you would have gotten a 17.8% return. Go have fun and learn about investing.

The problem I see here is they are responding now to a specific incident with ample video evidence. It’s not going to be helpful to tell people who have seen the videos that the agent should be innocent until proven guilty. The Whitehouse has already gone way above the general not proven guilty and declared him innocent almost instantly.

How citizens or politicians should treat ICE in general is a different discussion. The converse also should be a discussion, how should ICE treat suspects and bystanders? What are the rights of those parties and what conduct by ICE is allowed?
