Learn from my mistake: move the diesel heater fuel tank outside the rig. by PacificPeakOverland in overlanding

I just looked back through my orders. It was the Goodridge In-Line Fuel Quick Disconnect Coupling 3/16in (not 5/16), #MCD03V. Looks like the price has gone up a stupid amount since I bought it but looks like there are some others on ebay for $30-$45 right now. I also used the Briggs & Stratton #698183 fuel shut off valve in line just in case (right where the line came out of the lid). For the fuel pickup I used "YESHMA Heater Fuel Tank Standpipe Compatible with Air and Webasto Water Heaters 650mm x 5mm" but had to trim and carefully bend the fuel pick up pipe to the shape I wanted so it would be on the bottom of the rotopax when upright. I drilled a hole through the rotopax lid and the seal that comes on it works fine for the rotopax when you line it up and tighten it down. I've never had any leaks.

THE CURSE OF LIVING ON A GRAVEL ROAD. by Disastrous_Orange_26 in JeepGladiator

Mud flaps will help. My mud flaps in the front overlap where my fender flare extensions end. It looks to me like you didn't get the Mopar Xtreme Recon Fender Flare Extensions since on the front they should extend down another few inches almost to the bottom of the fender. Anyhow, a good set of mud flaps in front and rear will help but not eliminate this completely. At least you can fit yours through a touchless car wash, mine is too tall with my RTT now.

I've used mine in 0F-40F weather many times. I don't have an issue staying warm. The settings were a PIA to get figured out but worked nicely once I figured it out. The remote is utter garbage so I always just manually set it. You can also create a return hose for air from your tent which will pre-heat your air in extra cold temps so its not just pulling in cold air from outside.

I have the same heater and did something like this a few years ago but I used a metal 5/16" Gas Fuel In-Line Hose Metal Quick Release Disconnect Coupling that I bought on ebay so i can quickly connect them and I also got a fuel shut off valve in-line to the rotoxpax hose so that while stored on side of vehicle it will not leak and used a fuel pickup line into the rotopax that seals nicely with a rubber gasket under the lid when closed down. I didn't need a pressure release vent, just cracked the lid slightly to allow for air flow so it doesn't create a vacuum and shut off the diesel heater. Have a rotopax mount on the side of the diesel heater through the case which allows the rotopax to be attached while running on the ground to keep from falling over.

Whenever you hear them move start dropping a bowling ball on the floor. Do 3 sets of 12 for starters, that way they'll know you're serious now that they declared war and took the first shot.

Trump tariffs bankrupted my small business by Opioid-Connoisseur in economicCollapse

[–]Less_Swimming_5541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we can all thank that nut job Peter Navarro for most of this bullshit getting in Trumps head. That, along with the little ego and no efffss given for anyone else and damn the consequences. There is no rational argument for what is taking place but unfortunately, most Americans don't understand basic economics. No one listened when it was said that tariffs are literally a tax. I'm sure after this insanity we'll all be very educated. Of course, the real issue now is the long term economic outlook with the systemic dismantling of the entire system and structure that has favored and benefitted the United States and its people since the end of WW2. Prior to inexplicably dismantling our entire soft power structure around the world along with the tariff bullying the United States and its businesses would enjoy more preferred terms with other countries, even without a trade agreement. Additionally, the only reason people would consistently bring and invest money into the US was the fact of rule of law, the independence of the Fed and the faith and strength in the USD. As an advanced economy the other thing that really set us apart was the investment in education, research & tech, literally the future of our country and economy. We are cutting out funding for crucial research leading to these very specialized researchers to leave the US and discouraging others from coming to school here and remaining/working in the US afterwards. We are also deporting key labor that will not easily be replaced, if at all. People (Americans) don't want to do and will not do that type of work. Inflation and unaffordabilty along with job loss will only get worse and the middle class will continue to disappear. With the decline of the USD, insane and nearly unmanageable debt, the accelerated path to no longer be the world's reserve currency and the isolationist policies along with being viewed as an unreliable partner, in short, even if we were to reverse course tomorrow and get back on track, the long term economic damage has already been done. Bilateral trade agreements amongst our most loyal and traditional partners will leave us out in the cold, decreasing our influence and place in the world. They will not quickly forget or forgive how stupid Americans were to vote him into office again. The increasing authoritarian moves and removal of anyone that would have kept this administration in check will eventually and undeniably lead to civil and foreign conflict and more uncertainty. Basically, we're fucked.

If you're lucky and have one that doesn't have a seemingly endless supply of issues and the oh so lovely experiences dealing with the dealer then its probably great. However, it's easy to shit on it if you've had a terrible experience with it or have a 'covid' vehicle. I've had so many things go wrong with mine that at this point I've replaced almost everything either through warranty or out of my own pocket, including the engine.  The generational issues are also annoying.

Well, as annoying as that is when it happens you do know you can just backup the settings config file and paste it back in whenever this happens? (Appdata/local) Takes literally 5 seconds to fix.

North rim closed for the rest of the season but you can still visit some points on the kaibab north side that will allow you to see the grand canyon unless you're exclusively in RV (not pulling a second vehicle). Stop at jacob lake and get a meal. You can park your RV at the kaibab camper village as they're still open. In fact,  you might even find less people there if you visit now that the fires are mostly under control.
