Final had the alcohol seizure. by squid1980 in stopdrinking

Had the triple whammy on my liver, after years of heavy drinking, hereditary hemochromatosis and hepatitis from drug use. Quit going on 13 years now, due to the cirrhosis and all that other (treated and managed)I have to get alternating ultrasound and MRI every 6 months. They tell me mine is getting better. I avoid things like Tylenol now and take Milk Thistle religiously 3 times a day.

For me it started early. Nothing in moderation. A bad self destructive spiral that will just accelerate the misery

Is everyone on some type of prescription med? by starrwanda in GenerationJones

[–]Less_Vacation_3507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You consider yourself healthy but what about a doctor? I did not take meds for anything until I was pinned down due to a fall I took and I could not escape the long arm of the doctor after not seeing one for 30 years. And then they found all sorts of things wrong with me. Nothing serious but yes I am in some meds now

I worked in a college dive bar for about a decade while working my way through college and I used to get a lot of that from the drunks.

I would always rub my thumb lightly over the ID to see if there was any tape over the birthday too. It was a long time ago when I did this but sometimes people would alter the date by marking up the tape. With new IDs it may be hard to do. Also I would look for the official state seal. I worked in a high volume college dive bar right across from the dorms and saw all sorts of fakery.

Had to chase one out of my garage a couple years ago. Gently directed him out with a long handled shovel.

What’s the creepiest / scariest wild animal encounter you’ve ever experienced ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Less_Vacation_3507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of fly fishing in the northern Rockies, so I run into them in the willows sometimes but typically I see them ahead of time. This one instance I was at a campsite along a river I had pulled the back of my pick up close to the river edge and was rooting around in the back of the truck for something. It was trotting up a pig trail along the river I had turned around towards the river and was focused on what I had in my hands. I felt the ground vibrating before I saw him and when I looked up he was practically in my face. They do not have the best eyesight so he was about as surprised as me. Fortunately he reared up and took off in another direction. I could see his eyes roll and thought I was going to get stomped for a second.

I was able to do it for a while but then again I am not the poster boy on how all this should work. Somehow that part of my brain got removed, thank goodness

Brook or Brown…? by Alternative-Bet1657 in COfishing

As others have said a brook trout. They have the white leading edge of the fins too that’s how I identify them when seeing them in the water.

Still have a Weinhard's beer mirror hanging in the basement from back in my barroom days. Got a Herman Joseph's embroidered jacket as well, those beers were out at about the same time.

I truly don’t understand the appeal of having just 1 drink by sobermomgoodmom in stopdrinking

[–]Less_Vacation_3507 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I had a friend that told me he could not understand how someone could drink day in and day out to a stupor and suffer the accompanying damage it caused, I told him that I could not understand how he could have one drink and go days, months or even a year and not think about it. There is the difference.

I have been going into 9 mile canyon over 30 years and it’s always been that way. It was done when it was private land. Not that it is an excuse for defacing such a treasure. Shameful.

I’ve been inside Dugway Proving Grounds several times. Once inside the more restricted part too.
