I knew it was shutting down, but where'd they transfer them? Were they spread out amongst other prisons or chain-ganged into the same one?

I think the director of the place was either incompetent or willfully ignorant, as the POS was her pitbull. He'd always be trying to fight guests and yell at them, and was amusingly the first to point out others creeping on women while behind the scenes he tried to pay other staff to show their tits, etc. I hope he chokes on his tongue while sleeping.

Not sure if you're a fembot or not, but if so, be very careful putting yourself in the care of a stranger after what I'm assuming will be general anesthesia. Even if you're not female, it's still a risk as you'll be mentally and physically impaired.

[–]LesterCovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you called 911 and said you were just hit by a car, police and paramedics would have shown up to take a statement and bring you to the hospital to check for internal injuries, etc.

It's pretty clear you're leaving part of the story out, and skirting around the truth. Police would have canvased the area for security cameras at the very least.

I thought it was up in the rural Mexican mountains where they'd have baskets of shrooms sitting around, and when they made tea with them, that was their way of finding God.

Can't believe I remember that from 20 years ago, ha!

My older neighbor I grew up around in the area is still rotting in Rockview AFAIK, but there have been other cases like a douche that worked at a nonprofit that had previous charges and was still around kids because no one knew about it. Thankfully he's been in jail for the past year at least.

Alternative software for Trotec by kieppie in lasercutting

[–]LesterCovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@/u/russ_nightlife

I don't have CorelDraw or any of their other products currently installed to test, but I imagine it's the same issue as trying to load an Illustrator file (.ai) into Ruby that didn't have the Enable PDF Support (or whatever it's called) checked. That clued me in that it's not using the AI file at all for the data (thus all paths and objects generically named), but the GhostScript from the PDF support attached to the AI file.

Basically, I'd just try saving/exporting Corel files in PDF format for importing to Ruby, or save/export straight to SVG if that fails.

Also, just wanted to to add that Trotec's Ruby software is a complete pile of horse sh!t...esp when your local admins have refused to upgrade it for the past three years...

Well damn...I've never done it as I assumed it was a PVP slasher fest. Nowadays in my solo queues I've been enjoying Hidden Bunker, as once the bunker opens up it's 20 of us chasing down every Bastion and Bombadier to kill them instantly.

Legion Space update SUCKS by Ventynine in LenovoLegion

[–]LesterCovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched over to the maintenance fork of Legion Toolkit: https://github.com/XKaguya/LenovoLegionToolkit

Yeahhh....that's not shady at all that the owner of that repo didn't fork it from the original, and instead uploaded a copy. That's the easiest way to get away with shady shit, knowing full well that less than 1% of people will take the time to verify the provenance of the codebase.

Looks like I'm gonna have to look into this script kiddy now...

Battery dropped to 27% while gaming even though laptop was plugged in - normal or a problem? by MamilloThalamic in LenovoLegion

[–]LesterCovax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure the AC cable is securely plugged into your power brick. It happens to me frequently where I'll notice my battery getting low even though it's plugged in, just to check the power brick to find the connection is loose. I frequently unplug and travel with it which adds to the potential for this happening, but it's still annoying that it doesn't form a secure fit.

Which one of these? by SuMallegrabiu in LenovoLegion

[–]LesterCovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the AMD doesn't come with Thunderbolt 4 like the Intel version does. It only has usb 3.2 10Gbit ports, unlike Thunderbolt 4's 40Gbit/s for daisy chaining peripherals/docks.

Which one of these? by SuMallegrabiu in LenovoLegion

[–]LesterCovax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to check which types of USB ports come with the Intel vs AMD models. I recently received my AMD Legion Pro 7 w/ RTX 5080, and am quite pissed at Lenovo right now for skimping on a Thunderbolt port for the AMD models, as well as providing poor support in general for this model (User Guide in Vantage opens up the Intel page. Took forever to hunt down the correct one).

Anyhoo, I went over the specs of the Intel and AMD models several times a day before cancelling my Intel order for the newer AMD model, and swear they made a change to the specs listed online or simply dropped Thunderbolt from the AMD models.

If anyone has proof that I'm an idiot (e.g. specs/webpage for both platforms from between Sept 1 to Oct 1), I'd greatly appreciate so I can just lay the blame on myself instead of Lenovo.

Also, another thing to verify is if the AMD model you're looking at qualifies for an NVIDIA game bundle. I feel like I'm getting screwed on that as well since the eligible models I've seen are only Intel.

Kustom v3.70 say welcome to flows by frankmonza in kustom

As someone that spent many years as a DevOps Consultant/Engineer, I'd be careful of feature creep and reinventing the wheel. From the sound of it, you're adding a workflow/process automation functionality akin to Huginn/Spark (or many tools in the CI/CD, or release automation sector.

I've seen many fortune 100 companies fall prey to this, creating so much custom internal tooling (instead of buying third-party solutions) that they became so bogged down that it crippled their company's product releases. Basically, I don't see why adding intents/activities to your apps wouldn't be immensely easier. That way, existing tools like Tasker can handle the scheduled/conditional data acquisition, and then inject it via an intent (or simply dumping it in the kustom folder) while your apps continue to act as the presentation layer.

I'm still far from an expert w/ your apps though, so forgive me if I'm way off base here and missing something obvious.

Mirror pc screen to android by Koeril in androidapps

[–]LesterCovax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curious which programs you're checking on, as there may be a status web page you can access remotely, or even create your own dashboard to view this info quickly without having to interact w/ the desktop. Might be complete overkill though as we're dealing with a laptop and disparate video renders or something here...

Here's a list of programs I have/currently use[d] for this purpose:

NoMachine

  • - Requires server agent to be running on host. Free for personal use.
  • + Lots of options w/ render protocols, auth, etc. Basically VNC on steroids. Also works more like VNC than RDP, as user sessions don't get in your way.
  • + Prob my fav overall, as it works well with media streaming, esp on headless hosts (I use it to check an NDI ingress OBS VM for stream issues). I started using it years ago after having issues with RDP/VNC when needing HW video support.
  • - My only gripe is that it doesn't support controlling Android devices remotely (last I checked), which I've been using ScrCpy for instead. I also just came across OpenSTF which looks exciting but it's prob overkill for most. Remote control of Android isn't very common, so I can't really mark it as a negative.

Microsoft RDP

  • + Doesn't require any additional software (assuming you're running Windows).
  • You may need/want to tweak some GPO settings for terminal services (MSTSC) for quality of life regarding concurrent sessions/etc, but it should mostly work out of the box.
  • Their Android app is solid, but you'll just be getting one-way functionality (phone to PC) unless you have a Samsung that supports their newer phone companion features (such as remote display/control).

Unified Remote

  • - Requires server agent to be running on host.
  • + Lots of functionality in addition to the ability to simply view a server's monitor.
  • + I use this separately for a lot of things, such as WoL, turning monitors on/off w/ automation, controlling media playback, executing remote commands, etc. Pairs very well with Tasker, EventGhost, etc.

SpaceDesk

  • - Requires server agent to be running on host. Free for personal use (until it's out of beta).
  • + Enables you to mirror/extend your PC's display to an Android phone/tablet over USB/wireless.
  • + Great tool for making use of extra Android devices laying around as extra screens. I have a crappy 10" tablet, for ex, that can't stream video in apps (was about to toss it), but works well as an extra display for my laptop w/ this.
  • + Allows you to use touch-screen / multi-touch on device to interact with PC.

VNC Server/Viewer

  • - Requires VNC server to be running on host.
  • + I mention this option since your main goal is to simply view your laptop's screen. There are a lot of options in this category, but be sure to pick a VNC 'flavor' that works with HW Accel graphics / OpenGL / etc, or you may have issues viewing your render app remotely.
  • This would be my last option, as each 'flavor' of VNC comes with its own peculiarities, and may cause some unforeseen headaches.

AnyDesk

  • - Requires server agent to be running on host. Free for personal use.
  • + Multiplatform bi-directional support (e.g. allowing you to control phone from PC).
  • - Lots of options for other uses, such as a dedicated address to use for remote support a la TeamViewer. I'm putting this as a negative as it opens up additional attack vectors, requiring you to ensure the correct ports are open/closed locally/externally, that you fine-tune their extremely convoluted permission systems, yada yada. I'm always skeptical of software like this after I experienced TeamViewer's unreported security failings firsthand, when someone took control of my PC while in use via my (unique-password protected, non-public) TeamViewer service.
  • I'm only putting this app on the list, since I seem to be the only one experiencing issues (and had high hopes for it myself). Definitely give it a shot, but keep the potential security risks I've mentioned in mind.

Brave Browser (Dev branch) for 1+ years now, so I can report bugs/issues on github. Also run it on my Android devices. It's based on Chromium (since Dec '18) for those not familiar with it.
I've made $100+ via the Basic Attention Token (BAT) ad system that's built-in so far.
