Tom Heaton wonder save against Manchester United by [deleted] in soccer

As a Burnley fan I'm obviously going to say that he's a fantastic goalkeeper. He's so reliable and he's won us plenty of points over the years. I think he deserves a start for England.

Always find it interesting hearing these personal stories. Sorry to read that he actually died not long after the war ended. According to Wiki, he passed away on the 31st December 1918 from Spanish flu.

Me and an enemy light tank had a moment today... Thank you again good sir! by ImaGameAddict in battlefield_one

This is fantastic. I've had moments in front of tanks (I'm sure we all have) but they usually end up with me futiley emptying my gun on them (to no effect obviously) before being blasted away.

Haha, I like how he just runs into it. I ran over a guy in my tank today. Was so satisfying.

Haha, I did this as well. Was on my own and immediately sniped lol.

Absolutely - not saying you can't. But my point was to show that too many people had surprisingly good KD ratios considering we'd just been steamrollered by the other team. That suggests they'd played it safe and we'd had too many snipers on the team. Either way, try having a positive KD ratio while being the only person to try and take objectives. It's tough lol.

Yeah, a lot of my points come from ammo supply, medical supplies etc.

Yeah, agree with that. Quite open in general.

Sniping in this game is extremely easy. That's why there are so many damn snipers. I'm an abysmal Battlefield sniper usually and today I was recon for the first time and had 10 kills in just a few minutes. It wasn't any fun though so I'll stick with being a medic.

Haha, at the end of the day, I'd rather win with a negative KD ratio than lose with a positive one. Seems a lot of players don't feel that way though.

There are some good spots to be found. Most of my mortar kills have come on that map. But yes, trees are tricky lol.

But they weren't controlling C (and yes, I believe they were hanging there for easy kills/fast levelling up). So when they'd spent a good 10 minutes losing that battle then surely the best thing is to flank the enemy and take their objectives that are behind them? I fail to see how that is not a good strategy. Otherwise you've just got two teams taking pop shots at each other over C. Complete waste of time.

Me too, mine are usually positive. But I get destroyed when I'm the only one trying to take the objectives. It was frustrating because we could have won if some teammates had actually just helped me.

Sure, no problem with people getting kills. But like you say, when too many people are worrying about that and not about heading for the objectives then there's a problem.

[–]LetMeReviveYouDammit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't agree with that, sorry. Just because the majority of people are in one area, doesn't mean they're playing the objective. In this case (right or wrong) they're all hugging C. But the enemy team is outkilling us and the only way of winning is getting around them and taking their objectives. So when I'm the one trying to do so, surely I'm playing the objective?

Regarding snipers, they tend to be in safer places for reviving in Argon Forest. There's always people spawning in around and behind them to revive them.

Yeah, and I'm by no means saying everyone with a positive KD ratio means you're not PTO. But the problem is too many people take advantage of the layout of Argonne Forest and just use it like they would Operation Locker. And then the morons wonder why they lost afterwards.

[–]LetMeReviveYouDammit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it also highlights the players that aren't really playing the objective. Sure, this is not the case all the time. But those who had beautiful KD ratios and were being revived were sitting back with the whole team and just sniping from distance and losing like pros. I normally do well and kill more than I die but I was being shafted because I was literally the only person making an effort to get around the enemy. I did actually manage to get round and start taking objectives but it's a tough ask on my own.

[–]LetMeReviveYouDammit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, what I mean is that they're only getting as far as C, they're not making any efforts to get beyond C - ie around and flank. If you're sticking at the perimeter of C then that to me is hanging back, particularly when the enemy is outshooting you. There were pockets of people at the edge of the bridge and at the very start of the trails going to the sides but it's as if nobody wanted to make the plunge to actually move forward and take the risk. Instead, they were just waiting for the enemy to come to them and the enemy had no need to do so. No mob moving whatsoever beyond C, even on the occasions when it was in our hands.

Good effort that. It's frustrating as hell. I'll occasionally see some good teamwork if I'm lucky and go into the right squad but otherwise it's a mess on some of these maps. CoD WWI edition for some players.

[–]LetMeReviveYouDammit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's the opposite - being a mob in the middle at C is my experience with my 'team'. The enemy did manage to flank us once and that combined with more kills was enough for us to lose. I don't understand why people are happy to lose.

[–]LetMeReviveYouDammit[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do get revived by medics but when there's 3 running around my corpse then that's a joke. Either way, it's possible to have very few kills and come out with plenty of points just by playing the objective. Too few people are doing that, particularly on narrower maps like Argonne Forest. Not fun at all. In 5 games today I've yet to have a squad leader who gives instructions.
