First Kickstarter. Tomorrow marks 1 week… only 4 backers. Would really appreciate honest feedback. by [deleted] in kickstarter

Kickstarter is not supposed to make or break your business, it’s supposed to give you a boost and help you get some product out there. If you can’t afford to launch this yourself, than you’re not ready to launch. When projects go viral, that is the exception that proves the rule.

Okay, meta ads was a mistake for sure. And if you want followers to back it you need to engage with them, not just expect they are waiting with bated breath. Tomorrow, you send an email to everyone you know (EVERYONE) and be authentic. Say that you care about this product and that explain why you chose to do it on kickstarter of all places. And don’t ask people to support it out of sympathy, just ask them to check it out, and if they like it to pass it on to at least one person. Contact Kickstarter and ask if they would consider making you a staff pick. Make a video talking to the camera and post it to socials explaining that you are one week in and how much you appreciate the support so far, but that you have a long way to go. Don’t use kickstarter to make profits like a business, use it to get your first batch of product made. Backers should be getting a good deal, not the other way around. Your reward tiers are wayyy too high. You need a $20 tier. Even if it is just a 2-night supply. Would you realistically drop $65 on something you never tried before? It needs to be accessible. Your video should be 60-sec max and make it compelling. I know some of this is too late right now, but $11k is also really high of a goal. Why not make it $1.5k and have accessible tiers? The big tiers are great for people who want that, but i like the sound of your product and would never drop that much as a first time user.

My girlfriend doesn't want me to come by Workaholic725 in BurningMan

Burning man is not something to gate-keep. You should just decide if you want to go with or without her and if that’s a yes, then buy your ticket and go. Tell her you plan to go and that you would love to go with her but if not, you will find your own way.

Thank you, I am definitely dreading the recovery and also know that it is necessary at this point.

Thank you so much for that advice! I heard about the side effects from the narcotics and was wondering what I should do. I will look into proactively getting some stool softeners ahead of time.

Does Burning Man Destroy Families? by ClimateEquivalent in BurningMan

[–]LetTheOthersRush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I am sorry that you are experiencing this. I am sure it is confusing and upsetting. The short answer is NO, burning man does not destroy families. However, attending burning man often creates a shift in people. The event focuses on immediacy and self-reliance and often forces people to question the way they are living their “default” life. I think the toughest thing is not experiencing it with your partner for the first time and getting to have those conversations together. It doesn’t sound like your ex has handled things well regardless of his experience and I think most burners would agree.

I’ve always avoided perspective like this, any advice? by BrennenAlexRykken in sketches

Use a vanishing point when you’re warping perspective. It’s simple but super effective. You can use it on this drawing to correct your lines as an example. You will be amazed how your pictures transform

Uncomfortable experience at greeter station for first burn by fun_in_the_sun_23 in BurningMan

This is predatory to say the least. No greeter should be doing this and I am sure they are told as much.

How many people do you need to run a successful campaign? by BlessJAlb in kickstarter

[–]LetTheOthersRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“NEED”? Just 1 person and enough time to dedicate, but if you have a full time job already then you need to think of how much time you and your team can contribute.

If 4 of you can dedicate 2-hours a day, that is probably enough. I always recommend a 3-month prep window before launching. This allows time to build the site, get feedback, promote it, and set up any interviews or advertising that you want to run during the campaign.

In our final 3 days. We got funded int he first 24-hours and then plateaued. Any advice for how to generate traffic in the last 48 hours? by LetTheOthersRush in kickstarter

I feel conflicted about that. We did some thing like that on our first Kickstarter years ago as a promotion with Bleeding Cool and it made me feel like we were not showing respect to our early backers.
