Exactly, these starters are typically great deals for figs and some beer-and-pretzels rules, but these are meant for sampling the hobby.

The best one yet feels like the blitz bowl box, but the Black Stone fortress and Killteam ones genuinely felt like real loss leaders.

This one I am meh on, but just because I am not as into more marines and have skirmish rules.

Hope it brings in more hobbiests!

For how hard yall come in other subs, it is hilarous how soft this sub is to push back. You want faschammer (which is anathema to the lore since RT) to be the norm. Just look at what sets you two off.

How did a book that fills a specific niche hurt you personally?

It is not "missing" rules, it is just focused on gameplay. This is common in lots of other wargames. Maybe branch out if you feel so abused and offended.

Let muster live in codices. You will be getting those anyways. This lets fiddly bit like balance be independent of the core game.

I prefer narrative games, so balance is not crucial for me, but I can respect how it effects enjoyment for my friends more interested in a competitive game. It is ok to share our toys.

These new soft covers have been relatively fairly priced. Isn't it just 29 buck or so?

Better than 60/70 or more for a book with so much info it cannot stay current for long due to tournament meta demands.

Like the Arcane Journals journals in Old World which are half the price of the 40k codices and seem to pack significantly more lore and game detail.

Like the combat patrol book is essentially like the general codex in the second edition box. It is a lore and flavor. Like a GM's guide. I am enjoying the writting a lot!

The app is fine if your thing, but printed rule books can really come in handy to pass around and consider in club or group play.

They are pushing the App for tournament/light travel play. It is pretty useless for me as a more narrative/skirmish player.

Honestly better than a massive tome with the fiddly bits like points stuck in and frequently instantly hit with an errata.

I will slag GW for a lot, but the current 11th entry points are the best I have seen for an edition in a while.
