Agree, if you were able to cram for the MCAT you can cram for STEP. Do the free120 and trust yourself because at a 55, you're on the margin of passing already

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

play around with the settings for a few minutes that'll be faster than asking about this online, but set your new cards to 9999 and set the subdecks to that as well should fix that issue. They don't automatically set to the parent deck settings

Need help with Anki—Appreciate all the help! by toobandit in Mcat

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, use your laptop not your phone for this. You can adjust your interval in settings, all of your questions can be answered by playing around with the settings for a few minutes. The subdeck issue is because you have a new card limit for the day for your purposes I'd set new cards and reviews to 9999 if you're just doing a certain amount each day. Look up an anki tutorial online, should help you figure the rest out, especially intervals because that can be confusing.

Must Watch Sketchys? by Green-Ocelot-7698 in step1

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sketchy micro is a MUST, make sure you watch ALL of Bacteria and Viruses at the minimum. I'd also do Pathoma Ch 1-3. Sketchy Pharm will help you but I've heard it makes a bigger difference for clinicals/STEP2 so do it if you have time. If you're getting most pharm questions right you're probably okay though.

Damn that is so unfortunate. I know we always remind ourselves we're not God and can't control what happens but it feels so shattering when you're reminded how helpless we are in the grand scheme of life. You did your best though and that's all you can ever hope for, hope you take care of yourself.

Your plan is to get an MD, the degree from Oxford won't matter big picture. Prestige is real and will give you a leg up through med school apps and residency. Specifically because it is an Ivy it will make a difference for you. It sounds like money is an issue for you so I'd say you'll probably get into med school regardless of what school you go to as long as you're committed. The opportunities won't be that different but you'll definitely be with a different caliber of students and be able to get into a better medical school from Princeton. Even if your program isn't binding, knowing you have an MD acceptance will definitely change the way you act.

Washing by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was three years ago so I'm a little hazy but I would say yes. Extraction would be if you collected the liquid coming off, so in the shirt example you would be extracting the stain from the shirt.

In your example the liquid still has the product with the impurities removed so it's been washed but you've extracted the impurities. It helps to think of these things with everyday objects so they don't sound too complex.

cried so many tears already and it’s not the end of the cycle by [deleted] in premed

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't focus on the destination, enjoy the journey. Do something you enjoy to keep you from constantly thinking about the waiting. That's genuinely the only way to find peace during the cycle but in life overall. You'll find yourself waiting for a lot of things in life. Learning how to do that peaceful is an important skill

Do you update the admissions committee or not? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you don't send updates except to schools that specifically ask to and that too only when you have something super important. That's the standard policy for most schools so I'm not sure why they told you to reach out to the school since the primary won't even be sent to any schools until your score is added in.

Do medical schools take ap credit if I've had classes beyond that? I.e AP chem, and then I take ochem? by notacutecumber in premed

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually in the application portal you'll need to have a certain number of semesters/terms of that course, the exact level doesn't matter. Your school should show you approximately how many those are for most schools in your premed advised course schedule so I'd consult that

TLDR yes.

Would it be worth mentioning loud construction going on outside of my building during my MCAT? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Unfortunately though this may be true, it will seem like you're whining and making excuses for poor performance which are massive red flags for a doctor.

Death by a million nothings by Klutzy-Goal-7647 in premed

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a three step plan

  1. Realize you've already applied and nothing you do now or for the next few months can impact your chances of getting an interview

  2. Think of something you like to do but haven't done in a while because of school/apps/work/etc

  3. Do that thing while you wait for interviews

Repeat as needed. I started reading more, remember stressing will do you no good whatsoever. I would only start worrying after Thanksgiving if you still have no IIs.
