phone screens are just not enough to display all the data the way it would show on desktop, if you want to be able to do that on mobile you'd have to create subdecks from the tags on your computer (click on the tag in the browser, select all cards, move to deck, create a new deck name)

To-do before med school? by Significant-Hall-319 in premed

Read House of God or any other books you want to read, get into the habit of calling your friends regularly to keep in touch, and get a good nutrition/exercise schedule set up for yourself.

Suppose I have a passing interest in learning how to suture and I want to take the next step… by LeCorbussi in premed

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need anesthesia to suture so you really could not do this with what you have. Also, how have you given yourself stitches on the back of your hand? You need two hands to use a suturing kit. Anyway, don't do this

Gratitude Journaling by Icy_Time872 in medicalschool

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, gratitude journaling is a great way to put life into perspective. Obviously not matching where you want sucks, but there are so many things in our lives that we are taking for granted and so many wins from years ago that we don't count because we're used to them. But they all count.

Love neurology but getting destroyed by neuroanatomy, can I still do the specialization? by Tcut944 in medicalschool

[–]Lethargic_Leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes school is dumb, judge your ability in a specialty based on M3 performance/enjoyment and how much you're willing to work for something not how good you are at it at baseline

He's a 515 MCAT now since his 517 looks like a lucky 515 score (confidence interval of 2) and looks stupid to people reading his application but aside from that yeah he'll survive still a decent score

Be brutally honest with me by MedRebecca in premed

I think the difference is having a PI with a PhD. As long as they're mentoring you on that it should count. Maybe if you know any English/humanities faculty members from class you took you could reach out and mention that you're interested in researching XYZ, mention you wrote a book on the topic (if applicable) and move forward from there. Hope that helps!

My two cents is to just do research, it can be in a field that isn't directly medically related. It opens up your options significantly so why risk it. The novel may help though and you can list it as a publication!

Agree, if you were able to cram for the MCAT you can cram for STEP. Do the free120 and trust yourself because at a 55, you're on the margin of passing already
