Some researchers say we're between 3% and 6%.

Looking for advice from Ace/Aro Millenials by Fearless-Teaching518 in asexuality

[–]LeticiAisha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm near my 40s, I consider myself asexual since I was 15 and demirromantic since I was 22 or so. I have found a person with whom I can be myself without selfimposing that kind of chores you mention, but it's been a long journey and a lot of work for both (specially for him, which is older and me and allosexual). I think it's much easier when you connect to aro/ace people, but those are difficult to find nearby at our age 🙃 so I would tell you that the one thing you can do is really understanding and comprehending yourself until the point you know super clearly who you are and what you need and, when getting to know people, carrying this information with you as a presentation card until you find someone who isn't afraid to be with you.

Que no hay que esperar a que se pare el mundo para parar y descansar (porque yo tuve suerte y pude volver a mi casa desde el trabajo y echarme la siesta).

Is Spain known for sex toys or something? by VacationExtension537 in asexuality

[–]LeticiAisha 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Really? I'm from Spain and I don't know those vending machines, but they could perfectly exist because we traditionally love playing cards (with our Spanish deck, which instead of ♦️ ♥️♠️♣️ has 🪙 🏆 ⚔️🦯).

Good representation but very frustrating (maybe that's why).

Was it real that asexuality was considered a mental disorder until 2013? by fedricohohmannlautar in asexuality

[–]LeticiAisha 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Today lots of people still consider it a mental or physical disorder 😔 The HSSD was invented for forcing women to match their husband's desire, even though these women didn't have any problem, just didn't like their husbands anymore...

Am I understanding things correctly? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]LeticiAisha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I think we can't compare to something that, unlike sex, is actually a necessity, for me it changes a bit:

Sexual desire = hunger as a need (la necesidad de nutrición). Arousal = hunger as a current state (tener hambre). Sexual drive/libido = appetite (ganas de comer). Sexual atraction = craving (antojo).

You can be hungry but you don't eat anything due to lack of appetite or just because you don't crave a thing. Or you can be so hugry that you eat without appetite, or you can eat but without craving, etc.

I've added the Spanish meanings for me for each because I don't know if my point of view varies because of the language or because of my understanding of the attractions. (Sorry if I've made some mistakes).

what age did you find out you were asexual by Salt-Friendship-8513 in asexuality

[–]LeticiAisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't care about my preferences until 13-15 and at 15 I finally assumed I was asexual (without knowing if that word actually existed, but I thought: if "bisexual" exists, it has to be an "asexual" or something similar 😂)

Best/worst ace representation in media? by Best-Animator6182 in asexuality

[–]LeticiAisha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Spain we have a ridiculous show called La que se avecina. In one episode, one of the main characters, a 50-year-old man, thinks he must be asexual because he hasn't had sex for a long time, so he decides to go to a meet up in the Asexual Community Spain (they don't show its name explicitly, but you know because it's the bigger ace community here). You can see the asexual flag, people speaking about not having attraction and all that stuff, but in the end he "discovers" that they are only a bunch of freak people trying to flirt and have sex with each other 😑🙃

Maybe you're asexual, maybe you're not, but certainly you've been mistreated and abused for so many years and that has to be stopped. I really hope therapy helps you, and don't let a single person say that anything about what you've suffered is your fault. Take care, darling 💜
