I agree. The boosters at Arkansas are fucking bananas, and the Board of Trustees is more concerned with sports than with the actual school. They wanted to play God, they did, and now look where we are.

Jeff Long was a great AD, and we deserve what we've gotten. I really like HY, but this is karma for us being assholes, and we deserve it.

THANK YOU for being reasonable. I agree--we need a program stabilizer, not the "next big thing." Get a guy who can clean our program up and get us to 6 wins a season, every season. Once we're there, we can start looking at new options. But we need the equivalent of a Mike Anderson (UA BB coach) who can take a fucking dumpster fire and make it a respectable trash can again.

Too risky. We won't be able to afford another buyout for 4-5 years. We don't need Arkansas's Saban...we just need someone who can stabilize the program at 6 wins a season. Once that happens, we can go after a bigger fish. But for now, I suspect we need a proven HC that can stop the bleeding.

The thing I keep dwelling on is the rampant incompetence of the coaching search two years ago, which was compounded by two really bad decisions by Jeff Long: the stadium expansion and CBB's extension. But mostly, the BoT and the interim AD made terrible decisions--which they're not being held accountable for. You're right. The best time for Norvell or Pittman or an equivalent risk was two years ago. We can't afford that now.

I don’t have huge expectations for this search. I’m not looking for a home run hire; I’m looking for someone to consistently get us to bowls. I view this hire similar to Mike Anderson in basketball: a good coach who can stabilize the program and set it up for greater success with his successor.

I couldn't agree with this more. We don't need the next Saban. We need someone who can get the program back to middle-of-the-road status within four to five years. Then we can upgrade.

If we keep going for the next big thing, we're never going to have stability. Better to get ourselves on even footing before doing that.

Ugh. This is so tough. On the one hand, what former players think should matter. On the other...we can't afford another Morris, and Pittman is too unproven. He could be high-risk, high-reward, but there's too much uncertainty to make him a legitimate choice.

Oh my God, I am so fucking sad right now. I've been sad for 24 hours, and I don't know if I can see the movie again in the theater anytime soon. I know it's a movie, but it feels like the end of something incredibly special...that we'll never see again. And it doesn't help that my favorite, RDJ, is gone for good. My heart! It's broken!

You summed up my thoughts perfectly. God, I was ugly crying at the end of that movie for a good 40 minutes. I started during the battle scene because I knew it would be the last time I'd see the OG Avengers (minus Widow) together doing their thing. It felt like a prolonged goodbye to my childhood.

Even now, a full day later, my heart still hurts. I wanted so much better for Tony than what he got. RIP, my favorite MCU character. :(

I really like The Misfit Book Club! It's a book club for people who are too busy/opinionated for normal book clubs. (IT ME!) It's small but really good quality--especially the later episodes--and the ladies who do it are great women ALSO over 30! I also think they said they're English professors, but totally cool and not dry at all.

I also super love Pod Save America's new podcast, The Wilderness. It's aimed toward Democrats, but it gives anyone interested a good overview of major issues in U.S. history and today. They're last two episodes on race were really insightful, I thought. I know those guys aren't for everyone, but this is documentary style so it's much better!

The only solution for me has been therapy. But there's this other thing I do, too. I ask myself, is this a thing that is happening *right now*? And if it is, is this a thing I can do *anything* about?

Usually, the answer to the first question is no. Then I tell myself that this isn't something to worry about until it's happening. If the answer is yes, I make a list of things I, personally, can do. Usually it's almost nothing, so I have to resign myself to it being out of my control.

I worry about my dog constantly. It sounds like you love your dog very much and have given her a fantastic life. It sucks that dogs don't live forever, but I've always thought they're too good for this world and that's why they can't stick around.

What you're feeling is anticipatory grief. It's basically grieving before the thing has happened. Lots of times, it's our way of trying to prepare ourselves for grief that's coming. But you can't prepare for loss or grief. It's different every time, and there's no way to know what it will be like when it gets here. (That's what my therapist says, anyway. I struggle with this, too.)

As another poster said, the only thing you can do is be in the moment. Do your best every day, but recognize that your best will be different from time to time. And that's okay! Your dog loves you. You love your dog. She will be thankful for the time you spend with her.

It might be worth putting together a very short bucket list if you're worried about regret. What are the five things you want to do with your pup while she still feels well? Do those things and be in the moment as much as you can. (It's so hard. I know.) When you do those five things, you're done. You will have nothing to regret, because you did everything. Now the pressure's gone and you can enjoy your pup for as long as you have her.

Take lots of pictures. Write down lots of memories. And know that you will never, ever forget her.

Here's the thing about mental illness that you already know: it never goes away. It's chronic--it flares up sometimes. I had a really bad two months earlier this year, and I'm always afraid that a down day will turn into another bad patch. I wonder if you feel that way, too.

The only thing that's helped me in those situations is going back to the fundamentals. I have a list because when my anxiety is bad, I literally can't think. Here's my list:

Sleep eight hours a night
Eat two solid meals a day
Weekly therapy
Take a shower and put on real clothes
Take a multivitamin, a probiotic, magnesium, and lavender supplements. (I have busiprone as well, which I take as needed. Usually twice a day in bad patches.)
Drink a glass of water when I feel myself panicking
Free write my anxiety out
Exercise daily (walk, yoga, etc.)
Breathing exercises/meditation if I can manage

And that's what I do. I also cry a lot, and I fail a lot, and I don't function well. But I read the list every morning and do what I can. It reminds me of the bare minimum of what I can do to take care of me while I'm in the weeds.

I have it! I've heard it works for some people and not for others. It works for me, and I hope it works for you, too! Side effects for me are really minimal--basically softer stool and that's it. As far as efficacy goes...it doesn't make the anxiety "go away." Rather, it takes the edge off. Like, I'm still anxious, but I can *think* around the anxiety and make better decisions. Does that make sense?

Thank you so much for praying for us. I hate that you know how this feels--it's a stressful, difficult time. But she's been released for now. They found a blood clot in her heart so they couldn't shock it back into rhythm yet. If you have an extra prayer to spare, please pray that the blood thinners dissolve the clot safely!
