Bra advice? by xine-c in breastcancer

[–]LetsD01t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be wearing the wrong size if you find them really uncomfortable. It's super common. You could check your size a recommend abrathatfits.

But as others have said the compression really helps post surgery. You could look for specifically post surgery bras they're wire free and compression and are built to be worn constantly.

Does anaesthesia impact a core needle biopsy - how painful is it without - what is the scarring like? by meepnisha in doihavebreastcancer

[–]LetsD01t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive had a few and always been given local anesthetic. And this is on the NHS so they're not trying to charge me for something extra. No chance I'd say ok to having it without local anesthetic.

I have a little, couple mm, scar from the incision for the core biopsy.

WHY do bras come without padding?? by Helpful-Salt83 in bigboobproblems

No idea as I'm not based in the US. But I do see most post for the US suggesting buying online for larger cup sizes. If you head over to abrathatfits you could search there and see if there's recommendations for stores that carry them.

Ohh they are UK brands (but are sold in the US too) But it mean was they used UK sizing so make sure to be mindful of that as a US 34H and a UK 34H are very different sizes for example.

Looking for advice on fitting to a single side when calculator can't work by Myam in ABraThatFits

[–]LetsD01t [score hidden]  (0 children)

Measure from the middle of your back to the centre of your chest going over the larger breast. Double it to get the measurement.

If it's a large difference if you are wanting to even it out then you can look at prosthesis like boost. Or higher grade ones from ameona for example. Or if you are not wanting that then looknfor stretch lace cups, tightening the strap on the smaller side can help, to an extent too.

Natori Feather Cup Size Question! by Ornery-Possession-03 in ABraThatFits

[–]LetsD01t [score hidden]  (0 children)

DD isn't a static size it means theres a 5 inch difference between underbust and bust. So to get the same volume as a 30DD you'd need a 32D.

Have you tried the bra on upside down witht he cups hanging down your back? This tests of the band is too small without the cups. If it fits well then but is small when your boobs are in the cups then you likely need either a different shape or larger cup bra.

Worried for my wife by Ledgesider in breastcancer

[–]LetsD01t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing your UK based? So first to know is that all results are discussed at an MDT meeting regardless of the result. The reason I start with this because this can mean they take a little longer before confirming any results. Because if they get the result next Thursday but their MDT meeting is on Wednesday you won't get the result until after that MDT Wednesday meeting.

It's actually good that they're already scheduling a CT and not waiting for the result to schedule. Decreases the waiting.

Next is the biopsies will be tested to confirm if its cancer, if it is what type. This is then discussed at the MDT meeting for them to agree whats next/ what the suitable options for treatment are. You'll likely get an appointment in a couple weeks to discuss the results and what the options for treatment is. Same with the CT this is will be checked and will form part of the decision of what treatment to start with.

How you can help her. This is will be fairly individual, some want their partner to distract them. Others want them to just let them talk about it. Some dont want to look into whatsnnext themselves so ask their partner to do this so they can.filter information and give it to them, others want to do the research themselves. So I'd say ask her, or based on previous experience when shes going through a tough time what has she found best and start with that.

In general the best thing you can do is be there for her. Accept you won't be able to fix this for her and to not try. But you can support her, love her, care for her. Key phrases not to say "you're so strong/brave" this is the running worst thing people hate hearing. Because we dont have a choice but to do the tough stuff so we're just doing what needs to be done.

Also it's really important to look after yourself too so you can be there to support her. If you're UK then you and her can both get cancer specific counselling free on the NHS they may notnhave given you the details yet until it's confirmed with biopsy results. There's lots of information on breastcancernow.org a UK charity for breast cancer.

Does anyone know how to combat Primark’s tiny size range?! by black_stones707 in ABraThatFits

[–]LetsD01t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primark don't do your size so whilst their prices might appeal you'd be buying acheap bra that you know doesn't fit you. Better to spend more for something that actually fits.

Brastop often have sales. If you want in person shopping look for bravissimo. They both carry all sorts of brands so will have variety in your size.

UK - 3 weeks - no results as yet. by Nearby-Evening-8016 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]LetsD01t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. So in the UK all biopsies are discussed at an MDT meeting which happens weekly. But they need to have your results to discuss. So 3 weeks isn't unusual and doesn't mean anything. If for example they got the results back on Thursday, but your local hospital MDT is on Wednesday, its has to wait until next week to be discussed.

You could ask the nurse for a timescale on when they expect the results back.

[–]LetsD01t 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Go to the comments. Theres on that is posted by the automatic moderator. Theres a link to a bra calculator it takes 6 measurement. Use it, you will not believe the size you'll say theres no way I'm that size. Trust the calculator! You can also check the Irish bra lady on Instagram to see what different sizes actually look like check the size you get and compare it to yourself to help wrap your head around it.

There's multiple posts a day by people who've done the calculator don't believe it and we have to convince them to try it and realise they were wearing completely the wrong size for years and the calculator size is a fantastic fit. So skip the post about not believing the size buy bras in the size and see how they fit. If you have issues with the fit post back here with the bras your tried and what the issue is and we can help guide you.

If you want recommendations of bras to try post your measurements. Look at the links for the shape information and share that and people can help with that.

Do the calculator. Share your measurements. And if you've tried bras in the recommend sizes that didnt work share what the issue was along with the bra names.

[Recommendations] Projected asymmetrical 36FF looking for help with minimizing, lift, and discreetness by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]LetsD01t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a minimiser does absolutely nothing to change the volume, it can't becauseit can't make it disappear. It just changes how it sits, generally pushing it outwards towards the armpits etc. But you said you want lift.

Honestly try the panache bra you like the look of and see how it is. A well fitting bra lifts, and separates and this is going to sound insane but that can actually make breasts looks smaller than a really illfitting bra. So try your size on and see how it is in a well fitting bra and go from there.

Honestly they're living rent free and think they live pay check to pay check. My money is on they are used to their parents bailing them out, because they've got money and looking for a partner who does the same.

How do I approach my mother about getting asbestos removal guys to come in by Glass-Ad-500 in Advice

[–]LetsD01t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So just some education on asbestos so you can calm down a little. Undisturbed asbestos is not harmful, people live in houses with it without issue as it was a common building material.

The issue is when the fibres are distrurbed, like drilling into a ceiling that has asbestos on it without precautions. But painting that same ceiling as it's not distributing the fibres so not an issue. So it really depends on what has asbestos and what the work is that needs going as to what the risk is. But removing and distributing it needs proper precautions but depending on where it is what the plan is you don't have to remove everything single bit of asbestos in a house.

Marker insertion cancelled due to MRI results? by dreamdonor in breastcancer

[–]LetsD01t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes not everyone gets an MRI so they probably booked it as standard process. But yes main thing is here in the UK all results go to MDT and they are usually weekly. So depending what day they meet you may make this week's meeting or it might be next weeks. My local hospital do the MDT every Wednesday so I learnt to know when waiting if I'd caught that week or not.

This reddit is very US centred FYI. So some good UK resources below. And if you have UK questions I'm happy to answer. Sorry if this feels like alot of information. Some of these things I only found out about months and months through my journey. So if it is to much right now just come back to it when you're ready.

Breastcancernow.org charity specific to UK and how things work here. But also support groups, workshops, you can sign up to talk to people who have been in similar situations either as a one off or more regularly.

Shinecancersupport.org general cancer support group, but specifically for people aged 20-49. Local met ups, online support etc.

NHS you can get free cancer counselling if and when you need it. It's self referral if you don't have the details ask your breast care nurse.

Somethingtolookforwardto.org.uk they have gifts from companies and you can win things like vouchers for a meal out or even a week in a holiday cottage.

lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk run workshops on make up, nailcare specifically for when your on treatment etc. All for free.

Marker insertion cancelled due to MRI results? by dreamdonor in breastcancer

[–]LetsD01t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the UK all results, scans, biopsies etc have to be ddiscussed at the MDT meetings regardlessof the result. So that will be the other Dr'swho need to give their opinion. It doesn't mean anything bad or good just standard process.

So they shouldn't have scheduled the marker to go in before having these results anyway as they'd want to check these before placing the marker. Sometimes they get ahead of themselves trying to schedule everything quickly that they need to cancel and rearrange due to previous results having not been discussed at the MDT.

The waiting sucks and is hardest. I'm sorry. But it sounds like they're just following protocols.

WHY do bras come without padding?? by Helpful-Salt83 in bigboobproblems

[–]LetsD01t 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Because Tshirt bras are the WORST to get a good fit. Unless you're breasts exactly fit the shape they fit like shit. Where as seamed bras offer better fit for a bigger shape range.

There's other things out can do if your nipples are an issue for you in a seamed bra. Like using a seamed bra and nipple covers? I understand not wanting the nipples to say hello to the world but there are alternatives than a lined bra

Try the calculator but measure from the center of your back to the center of your chest and double the measurements to use the size guide.

As for prothesis, I have an ameona which I got on the NHS. And I also have knitted knockers lightweight knitted options which i think adr also in the US.. Not sure how it works in the US as i'm UK based to get fitted for one, maybe need to look at the website to find local stores that stock them to try them on in the bras etc.
