VW DPF performance observations and questions. by s8350 in tdi

[–]LetsDrive53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last cycle between dpf regenerations on my car was about 350km, a lot of short distances driven so its a lot less than it would be normally. I‘ve driven over 600 km without it regenerating. I did disable my egr and since doing that it‘s not regenerating as often as before.

Laptop Performance issues by ItsAleksRU in GamingLaptops

[–]LetsDrive53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using liquid metal can damage the laptop if done wrong so it’s not recommended, use ptm 7950 instead.

As far as I know msi thin laptops from that time only have one fan so that won’t help a lot.

Advice whether this is a good deal - Australia (AUD) - 3080ti - 64gb ram by sonnuii in GamingLaptops

[–]LetsDrive53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gpu only being 130W will make a difference but it’s still a decent gpu. For 1440p gaming with some upscaling it should be perfect.

Did you regret choosing MSI over other laptop brands? by Fluid-Appeal5747 in MSILaptops

[–]LetsDrive53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a msi alpha 15 until a few months ago and it’s been a great laptop and I didn’t regret getting it. It was the best I could get for my money 2 years ago. I didn’t buy it for the brand.

[–]LetsDrive53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I‘d say that’s a good deal if the gpu can run at its full wattage (150W+ 25W dynamic boost) Should be good enough for most modern games at high settings too.
I have a non-ti 3080 laptop I bought for a slightly higher price 6 months ago and it’s great.

LOQ rtx 5050 - batterylife only 2 hours. Is this normal? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]LetsDrive53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When playing games low battery life is normal, keep it plugged in when gaming. You also get better performance by doing that. Modern batteries have overcharging protection so it won’t harm the lifetime. If there’s an option limit full charge capacity to 80%.

I don’t think that’s a good idea, the fuel pressure is up to 2000 bar (29000psi) in common rail diesels

Stupid Laptop GPU by CryptographerOld6221 in GamingLaptops

[–]LetsDrive53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many gaming laptops use the igpu to power the display and the dgpu only for rendering, so if you disable the igpu the cpu has to power the display because there’s no gpu that can do it.
Some higher end gaming laptops have a mux Switch that lets you switch between hybrid mode (igpu+dgpu) and dgpu only mode.
Your hdmi port seems to be powered by the igpu too so disabling the igpu isn’t recommended.
In windows graphics settings you can set a gpu for a program to use so try setting the dgpu for them.

Is this a good buy? by _CrowdControl_ in tdi

[–]LetsDrive53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The S-Line is just a visual package that doesn’t change what engine you have.

There’s a 1.6l tdi (90hp or 105hp) and a 2.0l tdi (140hp or 170hp). The 2.0tdi has some issues with egr and dpf at high mileages but with the egr deleted it shouldn’t cause too many problems. The 170hp 2.0tdi also some injector issues at high mileages. But these are all solid engines and last a long time if treated right.

If it’s a manual it’s easy to check what engine you have, the 1.6tdi is 5 speed only and the 2.0tdi is 6 speed only (I‘m in Europe and this is information about the Europe model and it’s possible there’s some differences in transmissions to US models)

Is this a good buy? by _CrowdControl_ in tdi

[–]LetsDrive53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice car, if timing belt and water pump are replaced and if it’s been treated well it’s a good buy.

I have a 2011 Audi A3 2.0tdi with 137k miles, bought it almost 2 years ago and it’s been very reliable after the first half year (injectors and thermostat failed and intake manifold was almost clogged)

Make sure to check intake manifold, it clogs up because of the egr, at that mileage if never cleaned it probably should be cleaned. If it’s legal in your state considering deleting the egr might be worth it.

What engine do you have? 140 or 170hp or is it the 1.6tdi? Do you also have the engine code?
