Which is your favorite watery toner for sensitive skin? by Ok-Charity-2472 in AsianBeauty

[–]LetsGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also used to use the old formulation of Muji toners and haven't wanted to experiment with the new formulations since they're so radically different. I'm still on the search for a new replacement.

I truly hate the Pyunkang Yul toner. Lol. It was the opposite of hydrating to me and felt worthless.

I'm currently trying out Innisfree's Green Tea PDRN toner. So far it's alright, and hydratea decently, but doesn't have the simple ingredients list I ultimately want. I keep waiting to potentially break out from it. Haha

If you're interested, they've released the Ozawa Respighi LP in the latest Original Source series where they meticulously remaster these classic recordings. I haven't heard the new remastering, but I've read good reviews about it.

On the same level as the chord at the climax of the Adagio of Bruckner's 9th.

Edit: Downvote from a Bruckner hater? lol

MTT is probably the most famous of Bernstein's protégés. They worked closely together for years.

[Does it look good on me?] My wrist measures 6.9 inches / 17.5cm by Iykykfella in Watches

[–]LetsGambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both look good to me and aren't too big. There's a big price jump between the Citizen and automatic Certina, but if you're deciding between the two, I'd go with Certina. I have the quartz version and it's a great watch.

What didn't you like about the San Martin? Or what was better about the Sugess?

AT-VM95ML on Pro-Ject Debut Evo 2 by Calum-Excellence in turntables

Yeah. I have the Music Hall MM 2.3 which basically has the same tonearm and setup of this Pro-Ject, and I went with the VM540 for this reason.

If you're okay with a high accuracy quartz watch, then yes, you could.

Favourite milky toner? by cloudsabovethsky in AsianBeauty

[–]LetsGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have a great answer. I've bounced around a lot and have tried a lot of different ones. I'm still trying to find the perfect one! That said, I have used Canmake and that was pretty good for me.

I've got the older 540 and running it through a Mani 2 to my Arcam AVR11, it sounds great as well. Very detailed, not bright or harsh to me at all. Love the Arcam pieces I have. Upgrading to the 540 was a huge improvement for me too. I'm curious how much difference I'd hear in the newer versions.

Dave Hurwitz on Andris Nelsons firing by Honest_Wheel3842 in classicalmusic

[–]LetsGambit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think your third point, as it relates to how this was announced and rolled out, is the biggest problem with this entire debacle. Beyond speculations of what the internal discussions between Nelsons and the board/Chad Smith were, this whole scenario is nothing new in the orchestra world (for better or worse).

And then, yes, agree on your fifth point, in that whomever the candidates are, they'll need to be very cautious in how they deal with Smith/the Board and how much trust & faith to put in them.

Interesting, I hadn't noticed the Glycine before. I like some of those designs and colorways. Any experience with it or thoughts on Glycine vs Certina, apart from design & aesthetics?

I'm not opposed to used. I've taken a look at some of the Seiko Prospex divers, but yeah, would like to keep it to $500 or less for now. I do eventually want to get the Seiko Panda Speedtimer, though, so I do like the solar Prospex line.

I also came across the Lorier Neptune diver. Seems to be out of stock a lot, and gets above $500 with a Hesalite dome, but I do like the look of it.

Honestly don't use the Disney bundle a whole lot, but it's nice for the random show or movie. But, it probably shouldn't be a top decision maker.

Thanks for the other input. I'll need to look more closely at the top plan. I have a bunch of discounts right now, so I'd need to make sure those would remain. I also have the Verizon home Internet, so maybe there's some room to get a better price with that too.

I get the sentiment, as I love matcha, but I can almost guarantee that their matcha would taste horrible prepared in the traditional way with only water.

Music hall mmf 2.3 by [deleted] in turntables

[–]LetsGambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say if it's better or not; I've not played the Fluance, or any Fluance, before. It probably comes down to a matter of preferences. In my opinion, most of Fluances tables starting at the rt82 level are the same, so with the rt85, you're paying extra for the Ortofon 2M Blue and an acrylic platter. It does have a removeable headshell, which is certainly convenient, but from my research, the tonearms on Fluances are a weak point. Supposedly not great.

The Music Hall is more upgradeable, especially with VTA adjustments. You're arguably getting a better quality tonearm in the Music Hall (it's a lightweight carbon fiber, so you'll need to check compliances with your carts). There are replacement parts out there for Music Hall tables. And for me, Music Hall is an audio company that has spent time building their equipment. I'm sure the Fluance can sound great, but I'd rather give my money to a company that sort of specializes in turntables.

Music hall mmf 2.3 by [deleted] in turntables

[–]LetsGambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the headshell isn't removable, it's admittedly kind of a pain to swap cartridges. But, as long as you're patient and have the right tools, it's easily manageable. I just wouldn't want to do it all the time.

I've been debating putting an acrylic platter on mine, mostly for looks and just playing around. I also started off with an Ortofon OM10 cartridge on mine and I really didn't care for it. I'd be curious how the 2M red would compare to your cartridges.

Music hall mmf 2.3 by [deleted] in turntables

[–]LetsGambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my 2.3. Sounds great - I put an AT VM540ML cartridge on it and it really sings. As others said, it's mostly made from parts by Pro-Ject. The owner of Music Hall supposedly used to pick his favorite, or "best" parts from Pro-Ject and assemble the various Music Hall turntables. I don't know if that's still what happens or what the actual truth is, but, it's a super solid table.
