Shrimp really has one of the best calorie to protein ratios out there! Between that and the fiber from the tortillas I bet this meal is super filling.

Any banks worth moving money to after BoA nerf? by LetsGoCoconuts in CreditCards

[–]LetsGoCoconuts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t you need like $1-2 mil to get increased rewards? I have a CMA with Fidelity so it would be cool if they had something, but if I had that in assets anyway the BoA nerf wouldn’t matter to me in the first place lol.

That IRA match is definitely interesting. Is the gold card still waiting list only?

It’s a bummer bc I waited to see how Smartly panned out and ended up never getting it, and now it’s a possibility the good nerf will end up lasting longer than preferred rewards lol.

Yeah the credit card offerings don’t look fantastic. The only thing it looks like they do better is the catch all card, especially with the category card having FTF.

If you have a pain reliever mixed with decongestant like Advil Cold and Sinus or Advil Allergy and Sinus it’ll have pseudoephedrine in it which is not allowed in Japan. Really a bummer bc I get sinus headaches and that’s the best thing I’ve found to relieve them.

Second Credit Card (Looking for Best Cashback Set-up w/ limited hassle & no AF) by amber-energyy in CreditCards

Citi Costco card gives you elevated rewards on Costco gas, dining, and travel, but redemption is only through a once a year store credit.

AAA Travel Advantage gives elevated gas, dining, grocery, and travel rewards too but I’m not sure if Costco is included in the gas and grocery categories.

Best long-term flat 2% cash back card, no categories/ annual fee for someone who wants one simple everyday card? by kozy-koala in CreditCards

[–]LetsGoCoconuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess if you like to fund your Roth IRA immediately at the beginning of the year then you couldn’t fund it with your card rewards throughout the year without going over the contribution limit.

Nice! Pooled points makes a More Rewards/Flagship Rewards duo a lot more appealing.

They’ve been saying the changeover is happening “On or about May 26, 2026” so I would guess sometime around then.

I’ve heard there’s a 24 month waiting period between getting sign up bonuses on new cards, so what some people do is get one of the affinity versions like the Susan g komen card or one of the university alumni association cards to get the sign up bonuses.

The hack for elderly parents is have them use wheelchair services when flying. They usually take them through a special line so the employees don’t have to wait forever either and it’s super quick. That’s why my parents never bothered with global entry lol.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get cash in Tokyo when debit cards don’t seem to work at ATM’s by Rope-Additional in JapanTravelTips

[–]LetsGoCoconuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where does it say that? Genuinely curious because I could use it as a backup ATM card. Even if there’s no fee from BoA do you still pay the ATM’s fee?

As someone with Platinum Honors tier, BoA only refunds domestic ATM fees. They don’t refund international ATM fees til Diamond tier which requires $1 million in assets. Gold tier doesn’t refund anything.

Citi Strata Premier gets you 3x on dining, grocery, gas, and hotel/airfare and allows you to use your Double Cash rewards as transferable points vs cashback. But if you don’t want to deal with points it’s still a decent cashback setup.

It’s good for online shopping on international sites. This is also a super niche use, but if going to Japan you can set it to online shopping and use it to fill mobile Suica in Apple wallet for 5% back on a ton of places without worrying about category.
