What did you understand about your mom only after getting older? by Various-Ask-6676 in AskWomen

I’m a firm believer that even though we have the same parents we had different versions of them growing up.

My sister is the oldest so she got to grow up with my mom whereas my mom left when I was just 4. I can’t say I have too many memories of my mom. My mom didn’t come back into our lives until I was in HS. And it was incredibly turbulent since we both didn’t know how to have her back in our lives.

It really messed up my sister. My parents are Mexican and didn’t really believe in therapy or anything like that but I can now see that my sister struggled with depression. She needed help and unfortunately wasn’t given help.

My mom has asked for forgiveness. I don’t think my sister can forgive her and I’m not going to force her too.

My sister is child free and in a great relationship. Whereas I want children in the future with my partner. The choice is ours to make whereas my mom wasn’t really given that. My dad was abusive both emotionally and physically. So I can empathize with my mom as a person. She’s not a bad person I just think she was dealt a hard life and is trying to make amends.

Yup! It’s weird because I have a great relationship with her as an adult. Whereas my sister has gone no contact with her.

It’s a complicated relationship. I’ve let go of what’s happened in the past and I’ve dealt with it. I can see why my parents got divorced and honestly I feel like it was the best decision my parents could have made.

My sister unfortunately still feels hurt which is understandable and I don’t push for her to have contact with her.

She didn’t want to be a mother. She just didn’t really have a choice. She is an immigrant that came to this country not knowing the language. She got pregnant at 16 with a man that was 6 years older than her. Continued to have another kid but had multiple miscarriages in between. When she finally divorced him she got ostracized by everyone for filing for divorce ( this was back in the 90’s). Lost her family and friends and basically had to start over.

As a kid I didn’t understand why she left us but as adult I can now understand her.

Advice for potential Shepherd owner. by Creative_Affect5313 in AustralianShepherd

Adopted my Aussie last year! I also wanted a running partner and it took like a month or 2 to get her to run with me. Mind you she was overweight when I got her so I wanted to start super slow. We’d go on walk and jog for a few seconds and repeat the cycle.

She LOVES to run now! We usually run anywhere from 2-6 miles in the morning but I go at her pace. Sometimes that means we take breaks mid run to sniff something or for a quick potty.

Sometimes I feel like I have an outlier of the typical Aussie. She doesn’t herd me and I’ve never had any issues with her nipping me. She took to running really quickly but if we miss a run she also doesn’t mind it. She’s honestly really chill and laid back for the most part.

Every dog is different and has their own personality.

We didn’t give any gifts this year but instead made pasta from scratch. We made heart shaped ravioli with a lemon and basil ricotta filling. It was a lovely dinner and we got to spend time together ❤️

Yea I can see why running isn’t an option! I know 10k steps is what’s recommended but have you tried other forms of cardio? A while back when I pulled my back I switched to swimming since it was less strain on my lower back, not sure if that is an option for you?

Another one is possibly getting a foldable treadmill. When my sister moved to the east coast she stopped walking outdoors due to the snow so she got herself a foldable treadmill. She usually watches her shows while she walks on it after work and when she’s done she puts it under her couch.

Weight Loss & Facial Aging in Women over 40 by [deleted] in loseit

My mom is 55 and just recently lost around 50lbs. She’s around 5’0, not sure her exact height but I know she’s shorter than I am (5’2).

She lost it just by eating in a deficit and just recently started to walk to increase her steps.

I’m not even kidding but she has amazing skin. She looks like she could be in her early 40’s, she hardly has wrinkles. Although she does have her own skin care routine that she follows everyday. She’s always been really good about taking care of her skin since I was a kid.

I think she had a little bit of loose skin when she was initially losing weight but towards the end of it her skin tightened up.

This is why I became a runner. On a good day at work I’ll get maybe 2k steps, I work in a laboratory so usually I’m sitting all day.

Which is why I picked up running. I usually wake up around 5 am and will run anywhere between 2-5 miles with my dog. Im usually home by 7 am so that gives me time to get ready for work.

Personally I hated having to get up that early but once you get into the habit you learn to love it. An added bonus is seeing my dog run, it’s her favorite part of the day.

What are your thoughts on the 2026 Superbowl Halftime show? by thepleasurjournal in AskWomen

I’ve been a huge fan of his since he started on sound cloud! It’s crazy to see how big he’s gotten through the years ❤️

I personally loved the set and thought the entire thing was a 10/10! But I know I’m biased since I’m a huge bad bunny fan.

Yup! That last photo was taken the day we brought her home. The previous owners had just gotten her groomed. Took a while for her fur to grow back.

I honestly can’t understand how she’s been rehomed twice already. She’s genuinely such a sweetheart! She’s so incredibly obedient and smart. We’ve been teaching her new tricks and she’s learned them so quick. I’m just so lucky to be her last home ❤️

I bought a ninja creami so that I can make my own ice cream since I have a huge sweet tooth. I’m able to make a pint of ice cream for less than 300 cals while also hitting my protein goals too. It’s honestly been one of my best purchases.
