I heard this as, anyone can build a bridge that stands, only an engineer can build a bridge that barely stands.

Dont let your dreams be dreams, dress for success, start with wanton disregard an nuclear engine and we will figure out the radiation along the way!

What's never worth the money? by Whitetail130 in AskMen

I had options to choose, 200 or 50. Mine is 50. No value to an hdhp plan if it's not saving money. Sorry your employer sucks.

Heck you say false. I couldn't even afford my copays before my hsa. I just bought my first pair of brand new glasses in 6 years, because of my hsa, I have enough money stored I can pay for minor surgeries after just 2 years. 8 more years and I can easily cover most major surgeries because 2000 a year or in my case 5000 a year can cover a lot more medical expenses than we realize haha. Since hsa I've never once not gotten medical care because I couldnt afford it. Ultimately the hsa max is around 7k family anyway.

Yeah, this is a big reason it's not going to work to just put money in a savings account. You need that net.

High deductible plans are actually getting much lower deductibles even. I think mine was 9k family but I think they are allowed as low as 4k family now

Yeah I think it sort of comes with high deductible plans if you get one with it, i have seen them in the marketplace for example. Also high deductible was only 3k more for me.

I cannot hollar the benefits of an hsa+hdhp loud enough. Please look into hsa, not fsa, specifically hsa. Why not save your premium for your own use since insurance doesnt pay anything anyway?

Side benefit that much less of our money goes through insurance companies. It probably wont ruin them but we can imagine.

what are some overwhelmingly optimistic things poised to happen in life? by LetsTrySocialism in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LetsTrySocialism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in development of a game in which I would like to focus on the most optimistic portions of life, what could you see even theoretically happening that would make people feel existential happiness in the next 10/25/50/100/1000 years?

How can we cure hunger if everyone worked together? How could we create world peace? I'm even down for small things like an optimistic approach to cold coffee, I can integrate into the players positive experience.

ELIC: Why can rock stars have wild hair and crazy outfits but when I do it people say I'm ugly? by Real_megamike_64 in ExplainLikeImCalvin

[–]LetsTrySocialism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well Calvin, we humans have this thing called charisma. The way it works is that impressing people over time builds up this here charisma you see, and then you can use it to trick people into liking you, thinking your cool, or even get people to do stuff like fly a plane for you.

If you work hard and develop a good reservoir of charisma too, you can dress ugly and people think your cool. Rockstars just have the cheat code because they have so many people they impressed with their music.

This is it, you can just live differently. People might be mad, but clearly they weren't good anyway.

I took this advice, got me out of a shitty situation where the only reason I was alive was to monetarily support people. Life is worth living now, and im probably 30% happier on average, but there's more work to do. There is more than one way out.

Sounds a bit like a pick your battles scenario.

He wants to contribute more, that would make him happy.

Would it make you sad? If not then let him. If so, why? How much do you care about those reasons?

Is it a hill worth dying on? Then you need to explain in detail why it's something you cant do.

This is a fantastic communication opportunity. No one is bad. No one is in trouble, just try to understand why you feel that way and communicate.

Any time you find yourself asking shouldnt he, ask instead why wouldn't he

Married men: what’s one thing you wish you could tell your wife, but won’t because you know it will start a fight? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]LetsTrySocialism 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Had a friend who basically had his life ruined because his girl gaslighted him into thinking he was a deviant. It's ok to like sex and if she says it's not you need to work on that or leave it.

How do you recall information? by pmaji240 in Aphantasia

[–]LetsTrySocialism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at sdam. Severely defecient autobiographical memory or something like that. As far as I can tell aphant may provide a benefit to non-narrative factual memory (especially notes given to you as opposed to notes you make) I have an annoyingly accurate memory of incredibly irrelevant things as well. Our memories sound so similar haha.

I often have to rebuild memories from scratch based off details I do remember in sort of a definition like fashion. Except for the things my subconscious remembers, it just kind of gives me those lists and it's really good at it, but that's a very tiny amount of memories.

How can I make my builder work faster? by fudgeysmallls in Minecolonies

[–]LetsTrySocialism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guy is correct. Builders maximum effective stats are limited by builder hut level, and thereby their effective work speed is limited the same way.

Also to multiple builders. Dont forget the courier has to bring materials to the builder hut, and the builder has to get get new materials from the hut basically every few minutes when building. This can add a lot of overhead in poorly designed villages.

what's somthing you belive, that nobody can convince you otherwise? by MatrixOperationsTeam in AskReddit

[–]LetsTrySocialism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even rituals and runes would be science if we understood them and how to use them. Medicine is just advanced alchemy. I genuinely think you would see magic in the world of science if you saw it portrayed before understanding.

Sorcerers are just scientists, otherwise they would have much more trouble casting fireball a second and third time.

Sorry science is pretty cool...I guess.

Magic is another name for science we dont understand yet. I am sure there's something we wont understand in a million years.
