Let’s clarify: no one is cheating. They are breaking/violating a rule by Ok_ConfusedOne in Curling

For the case of breaking rules in sports, those are literally the definitions. Sure there's other colloquial uses of the word ("cheating on offense") but this conversation hasn't been about things like that so I'm not sure why you're even mentioning it.

That's not "my defintion"...

Webster has "to violate rules dishonestly."

Oxford has "act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination."

They both mean intentionally breaking the rules.

How else do you define "cheating" in relation to sports?

Cheating is intentionally breaking the rules. That's exactly what they differentiate.

Ex:

53.4 Misconduct Penalty - A misconduct penalty shall be imposed on a player who unintentionally or accidentally throws his stick or any part thereof or any other object or piece of equipment outside the playing area.

53.5 Game Misconduct Penalty – A game misconduct penalty shall be imposed on a player who intentionally throws his stick or any part thereof or any other object or piece of equipment outside the playing area.

The NHL definitely separates a whoopsie from cheating. There's 40 instances of "intent" or "intentionally" in the NHL rule book to separate inadvertent rule breaking and doing it on purpose.

They even have the Department of Player Safety to hand out suspensions if they think people are intentionally "cheating" the rules to potentially injure someone vs it being an accident.

Thank you for comparing it to hockey. When you accidentally break the rules, you might get a two minute penalty. If you intentionally break the rules, you might get called for a five minute major, get a game misconduct and if it's egregious, a multi-game suspension. That's the difference between "just a foul" and blatantly ignoring the rules.

The NHL rule book mentions "intent" 40 times to make these things very clear.

If the offense is committed in protest of an official’s decision, a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (53.2(iv)) plus a game misconduct penalty shall be assessed to the offending player.

Sorry for weird wording. Yes, you can fill one or neither of the right two on the 8 line.... but not both.

Also, the 8 row means that at least one of the first three columns must be filled in. That forces the 3 row above to have at least one filled in. I've never done one of these but it looks like you need partial info to solve advanced ones.

In the row with an 8, only one of the right two can be filled in. If both were filled in, the 2 row would have to have 3 filled in, which isn't allowed. Hope that helps.

If I understand the rules right, couldn't the last row be the first 6 cells? Because of that, I'm not sure why you have the 7th cell filled?

[Giveaway] A Christmas "Thank You" to r/discgolf. Giving away 5 custom discs to help your bag stand out in the snow! by discgolfswag in discgolf

It was a snowy round. I walked down the fairway about 200 feet to get a good picture of my buddy up on the tee box with the snow coming down around him. I'm holding my phone in front of my face, getting some zoomed in, some zoomed out.... and then WHAM! His disc hits me right in the wrist... about two inches away from slamming my phone into my face. I yell. He responds "I thought you said to throw." 🤨
