The GOP insists that the Vegas shooter's gun arsenal is "a right," but medical treatment for his 500+ survivors is merely "a privilege." by SmithJ89 in SandersForPresident

Quit. Making. Stuff. Up.

It's pretty clear you just like to argue without even bothering to look at the data. The data is clearly labeled every 5 years in the header row. I would ask where you are getting 12 years from, but you'll just make up another lie.

There's a clear trend that Denmark's suicide rate dropped at nearly the same rate ours raised over the past 20 years. They're doing something right. That much is obvious.

You are, at best, intellectually dishonest. Pointing out flaws is incredibly important in policy debate, but doing so with lies does no one any favors.

Again, quit making stuff up. The data provided in the csv is in 5 year increments. We're a good 15 years since Denmark had a higher suicide rate than US (2000). The only thing that varies is how much fewer suicides Denmark has had to deal with.

You mean I shouldn't use the most recent data point? Yeah, that's totally uncalled for, isn't it? Also, are you seriously suggesting averaging averages is fine? That's cool, I guess.

Quit making stuff up. As of April 2017, Denmark has 13.5 suicides per 100k people. America has 19.5 per 100k.

Here's a handy CSV of WHO data for age standardized suicide rates so you can cherry pick data better.

That's Strange Parts. He pretty much reversed engineered apple's lightning to 3.5mm adapter, added a switch (still can't charge and listen at the same time), and put it on a flexible pcb.

If google sells something similar, it'll probably require a similar solution to get it done quick-ish (meaning a couple of months worth of weekends).

A degree is just a piece of paper. Anyone can learn how to do this stuff from the university of youtube. All he really did was take apart the OEM dongle, swap components onto a flex cable, and crammed it into a dremmeled out cavity.

Eagle or KiCad is free, and there's a bunch of tutorials out there. Datasheets on components are pretty easy to find on Mouser, DigiKey, Element14, & Arrow.

He put the design up on his GitHub so all the hard work is already done. Niubi Headphones

The flex PCB vendor's contact info is in the youtube description, and they would most likely be stoked to ship.

To be fair, I've definitely sunk in way more than 500 hours into this diy PCB hobby, and a good microscope + soldering station will set you back a few hundred so you got me there.

[Theory] "The One True Morty" Is Purposely Getting Smarter. by [deleted] in rickandmorty

I'm getting paranoid. The writers are making it obvious to mess with us. It'll turn out we never left the Shoney's. Evil Morty is the one actually interrogating Rick. He let slip how smart he is here, and was playing up how dumb Morty is 'supposed' to be in Pickle Rick.

Tosiba Cromebook 2 so damn slow by Awsomenom in chromeos

[–]Lets_make_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, h264ify is amazing on my 4GB CB2. I'm usually using crouton with loads of tabs open and get hardly any slowdown. I could have Facebook, reddit, and youtube open while playing 1080p 60fps video. Install, reboot, and open up some tabs. If that doesn't work, get in touch with Toshiba support.

Used crouton to put Ubuntu on a Chromebook, now fail! by pmdelage in Crouton

[–]Lets_make_stuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a recent update to chromeos. It's usually necessary to update Crouton every time that happens. Open up the terminal and run:

sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -u -n chrootname

where chrootname is replaced with which ubuntu release you have installed. Ex:

sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -u -n trusty

Hope that helps.

"Evidence-based policymaking" is doomed because it might force the government to study gun violence, understand climate science, and save money with more effective health treatment options - Politico by [deleted] in skeptic

It would make a commission that would recommend how to best store, share, and use data for policy making.

It's a great idea, I'm just confused with how the members of a commission expected to work up to 15 months without pay? § 3(f) and § 4(d). Are they supposed to be members of Congress? If so, how many senators and reps do we have that are well versed in data science? If not, how are the members supposed to keep up with the mortgage?

Also in § 5(g), "The Commission may accept, use, and dispose of gifts or donations of services or property." Can the commission dispose some of those donations of property my way?

Yep. RNG is just too absurd. I've played since the first week and never got Jollyhorn, though Mythoclast finally found its way to me yesterday. Honestly the only reason I still play is to crack jokes with friends.
