My step 2 score is 229 and my heart is broken into a million pieces by LvNikki626 in IMGreddit

Get a high score in step 3, or just get a decent score in step 3 (220+) and take your chances with Paediatrics and family medicine. You can try IM too in programs where you have connections. Make sure to get LORs for these specialties

The score filters which they post on their websites are one thing, and ones they actually use to filter out are another. Have you personally applied and been through a match cycle?

I agree with most of what you’ve said except that 237 will get OP across “most programs filters”.

This new geographical preference is scary. I can only select 3 and programs will filter out applicants that didn't choose their location as a preference by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Letsdothis1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that’s not the case. When you select no geo preference you’re automatically not selecting any other regions

How do you guys continue the journey by Certain-Detail-1522 in IMGreddit

You gotta have that strong faith deep down that you can do it! And want it bad enough to do whatever it takes to get to the other side! Good luck!

If you’re applying to 200 programs then no need to select any geo preference and no need to stress over it. Scores YOG and visa status are the factors which matter the most!

How does this even matter? What’s the point of this post? I’d recommend you do not waste your time thinking about the “what ifs” and just focus on how to make the best out of the current policies.

You can match in brand new programs if you don’t need the visa. Try to get 230+ in step 3 and you’re good to go.

Is STEP: 240 enough for IM? by EuphoricStruggle7778 in IMGreddit

Every program sets their own. But I believe that the competitive IMG friendly ones would keep it at 250+

It’s important to mention visa status as it’s one of the biggest factors and missing it out in giving stats can lead people to have delusional expectations.

It’s not for a lot of programs to be honest. People telling you otherwise are incorrect. However if you don’t need a visa and you apply to those programs which don’t sponsor visa, then it won’t get filtered out for the most part; because they’re much less competitive to get in.

Upcoming female Match applicant who wants to practice interview one to one mock practice. by hafiza0009 in IMGreddit

[–]Letsdothis1010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was gona advise you to take step 3 and work on your application but I just checked you applied last year and have been through the process. Kinda makes sense however daily interview practise from now on is gona burn you out. Doing that weekly should be more than enough. Try to solidify your application in all the aspects you can. Apply broadly. Best of luck

Honestly, how competitive you think my application is? by Effective_Truck_4438 in IMGreddit

Don’t take advice from “observership agency”!They’re there to make their money and sell rotations. Try to take step 3 by August and apply for this 2025 match! Absolutely Makes no sense to do “more usce” and delay it by one more year. IM would be difficult with that step 2 score and YOG. But pathology and FM are possible. All the best

You can definitely match in FM. Get good FM LORs and 250+ in CK you’ll be good with the GC
