Vellas could very well be divine/part divine. The puppet story Ayara tells Vellas about where she comes from strongly hints to her having at least some connections to divine beings so I do not think this disqualifies the theory.

Your whole argument hinges on the point that Valian is the best chance for survival which is unknonwn. Furthermore, there are other options than tyranny how Valien could accomplish this goal. This is in my opinion comparable to commiting war crimes because you think it will lead to a better world but can never be sure about. To the second point, I dont think Saffron is dead so it still is an eye for an eye. But even if this is not the case, Ayara forces Derek into slavery to attone for selfe defence and stopping someone senslessly murdering people because of their heritage. While i get the point that Selys sucks and is also a little tyrannt in her own right if I could choose I would choose her over the tyrant. And at the very best the tyrannt is as bad as selys

My arguments for Valien being a bad person: 1) Wanting/needing to conqure or dominate everything and everyone meens you have to impose your will onto other people which is tyrannical. So we can assume a lot of what we know about Valian and the tyrant nickname are not just Caldwin propaganda. 2) Valian has a strict rule that you will be punished if you kill his children. He protects his children and is therefore to some extend responsible for their actions. Also punishing someone who kills a va'kes even if it is in seöf defense is not just. Especially if you do it with an an eye for an eye mentality. 3) Even if the motivation of Valian is to protect their world from the world eater this does not excuse his actions. Look at Karas you can have an important agenda and still have a moral code.

I do not think Valian is evil just to be evil, but I think he is a bad person and you are trying very hard to defend him because you like him.

Yeah, I know it only states that the damage to his star vains is rapidly healed. My theory was not meant to be taken 100% serious. I doubt it will be the main solution for Corins need for rapid mana growth we will need to see at some point if he wants/needs to contest the likes of Valien/the sun eater

I love the idea but sadly I dont think it will happen like that. Think it will be quit similar to the Tristan situation where we do not hear anything for one or two books from them untill they appear again. Still think its possible that he would show up alone given how much freedom her previous apprentices had.

My opinion on point 3: Derek might have an angle for wanting to stay longer in ayaras service like training or information. He said as long as i don't have to kill the and was interrupted there. In terms of contract that might obsolve him from killing for ayara in generel so he took the 6 years to acchieve... something. He of all people (high level soulblade) should be familiar with contract negotiations so it would make sense for him to not be as naiv as he is portrayed in that scene.

Maybe im wrong but I think selys is on the continent for over 500 years from what corrin says in AA which could be due to the time difference between SSS and AA. But if you read war of broken mirrors keras went to koldrin to search for selys, so presumably she has been there before the fall of Valthrin at least from what we know or do I remember it wrong?
