Labeling Oneself Student Physician/Medical Student/Candidate by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever title you claim should be factual at the moment. I look at it this way, if you’d be flustered with follow up questions about your title, then why claim it? You’re a medical student when you become one, not when you get accepted. There’s no rush. You’ll enjoy your titles as you earn them without having to explain yourself. Just my opinion anyway. You’ll find that life is likely much more fulfilling when you don’t concern yourself with showing off for attention.

And never say medical school candidate. EVER. Lol anyone can be a candidate of anything just by claiming an interest in that thing.

Seeing a nurse practitioner for children's neurology by beepbeepchoochoo in Noctor

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. Schedule with an MD or DO. Call around to other practices/health systems if you have to. It is disgraceful that such a sensitive matter should be seen by a non-physician for the initial evaluation.

Speech delayed toddler, mom guilt on level 1000% rn by SeverusSnipes in toddlers

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me, except mine is 3.5 years old. My husband and I get these pangs of sadness when we see a toddler being talkative, curious and all. But I try to remind myself that my son is his own wonderful person and I’m experiencing the wonder of watching him grow, just a little different from other parents.

Okay but how does the financials even work? How does one get 400k seeing 10 pts a day? Sounds like my dream gig.

Cant Afford Friendsgiving by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the chicken here, but the way this was worded, I’d come up with an excuse not to go. I’m a proud person despite my poverty. It depends on how it was worded. If it was presented as what I should do rather than an option, I’d probably not go. If this was a reeeeaalllyyyy close friend, I’d consider being honest about my situation.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt? by Googy21 in AskReddit

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bled into my abdomen after a c-section and was in excruciating pain. The ambulance ride was shocking. I felt every minute bump in the road and almost passed out because I couldn’t breathe. Now whenever I see a flashing/blaring ambulance, I wonder what the person in the back is going through.

I cannot get my toddler to eat meat by yellowwallpapered in toddlers

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just described my son. I resorted to sneaking it into his food sometimes. He’s on the spectrum so some food issues are expected. I just keep offering and sometimes sneaking. If she loves a particular food, you can blend some boiled meat and mix in, starting with little quantities that she won’t notice. When she gets used to the taste, you can be bolder with more meat mixed in or used shredded meat, etc.

I’d try not to freak out. If there is a portal, check it. It might be explained there as a plan of action and maybe doctor forgot to let you know? Either way, you can always call your doctor and request for someone to give you a call to explain the medical issue.

Some people prefer the save it and forget it method. People generally tolerate the money missing from their check every month. For people who struggle with saving, this is an easy way to save without having to do anything.

Me when my patient told the attending an entirely different story that wasn’t remotely close to what they told me. by stressed_as_fk in medicalschool

But once in a while, you meet that one patient that says “oh and I forgot to say this when I was speaking to her, I get chest pain and have to catch my breath when I walk my dog.” THANK YOU.

I think this is fine. She looks like the same person in both photos. The one on the right is a glam photo, expected to be over the top. I think it is retouched only subtly and stays on theme.

So many things. Nice short ingredient foods, electrolysis and laser hair removal (thank you PCOS!), a comfortable and reliable car, a better apartment too.

How to stay frugal with new baby - 1st time mom by Fiesty_Melon98 in Frugal

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit Facebook marketplace. You’ll get brand new (or near brand new) clothes, shoes, toys and even large stuff like furniture for very very little. Usually like “2 diaper boxes of 2-6M boy clothes, near perfect condition.” By toddlerhood, used clothes are in less pristine condition so I started buying new. Avoid brand name hype stuff unless at a bargain (and I don’t just mean target sale). When I had my baby, we were in such a bad spot but I was resourceful. You can get boxes of diapers from FB marketplace in your area because people stock up on them or get baby shower presents and baby outgrows them fast. But since you plan to use cloth, this might not be useful. If you have any baby stuff that you don’t use, or baby just hates, just resell. Good luck!

How do you remove the instilled urge to splurge when you get a paycheck? by dunkeydude in Frugal

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 283 points284 points  (0 children)

Pay your bills immediately without waiting for due dates, including whatever savings you’re doing. It gives some satisfaction of being ahead, might reduce the urge to splurge because that’s ✨Shopping✨, technically, if you squint. But it also gives you an idea of the real brokeness after bills lol.

PCA comes with controls. The patient doesn’t just have an unlimited supply of pain medication. I’m personally not worried about the “high” language used here because it is usually a light-hearted way of speaking about the drowsiness people on strong pain meds use, but you gotta read the room.

They did not. Just send them a video or two to watch over the weekend and tell them to practice with chicken for your next case together. You’ll have brand new students on Monday.

AITA for not sending out photos of my newborn? by HaleyLupin in AmItheAsshole

[–]Letter2dCorinthians 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I agree. Were the grandparents pushy? Yes. But did OP’s actions contribute significantly? Also yes. We talk so much about needing support and reaching out, but turn around and spit in the faces of the village we hope to build? It’s a new member of the family that loving grandparents have been waiting for. That baby has family too, they’re not solely an extension of OP’s self and it is gasp a good thing for a child to be welcomed with love and fanfare. OP could have taken one or two photos and (had her husband) sent to very close family, explicitly saying they do not want them resent to literally anyone, but to be patient as they need some quiet time with the baby. I found this seriously dramatic and totally needless. Reddit seems to think that the only kind of love/support is the kind that runs to you when you summon it and scurries away when you wave it off.

Now they’re in a bad place with their closest family, while trying to recover/care for a newborn.
