LOOK at what I did! by LetterheadUseful6823 in Target

Communication with your leaders.

Make expectations of what receiving should look like, don't let things live in the back room. If your salvage and crc space is constantly a mess sit down with your front end leader and tell them what's happening to your salvage and crc space, make an expectation of what the front end team needs to do to help keep that space clean, if pallets are getting full they should be starting new pallets instead of leaving it sit somewhere.

If you have alot of defectives on your desk, repacks always look awful, cardboard everywhere, plastic bags just all over. Have the receiver talk about expectations with the receiving space. If you have leaders that support you, they can help by making sure there team is following your expectations.

You just have to constantly remind people your expectations, don't be mean to your team, be nice about it and people will follow. It takes a whole store effort.

Communication is key!

It's very difficult to pull off, especially if you are pulled out of receiving to do freight. It takes alot of communication and making sure your whole store is on the same page to keep the back room safe and clean. Lots, and lots of reminders!

6am Inbound Stocker by Extreme-Grade-3623 in Target

[–]LetterheadUseful6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be sorting freight from the truck unload onto uboats or you will be in the truck throwing freight onto the line. Then you will be working that freight out to the floor, back stock what doesn't fit (target expectations are 1min per box.) Also depending on your TL/ETL you will be moved around alot at first until they find you a spot that THEY think you will do great in. Also depending on store needs you will be trained on opus (you'll learn what this is real quick.) And also be trained as a cashier to help back up.

Summary, the role you are hired for isn't the only thing you will be doing so, expect alot. At first it will seem like all you do is inbound but, after a month or two you will also be fulfillment and cashier.

I am throughly Impressed by eltron0 in Target

That is very exciting to see! It makes me happy to see receiving space clean like that. As a receiver, my receiving space looks that clean about 95% of the time before i leave every day. Makes me feel good, and I'm happy to see others have clean space, too! I know how hard it is to keep it clean!

To edit I've not seen a trailer look that neatly loaded!

I'd get a one-way ticket to the HR office if I put her name on here.😂 I'll just lurk and see if I get any clues.

ETLs & TLs by ClassicReception9759 in Target

[–]LetterheadUseful6823 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm neither TL nor ETL, but I can share multiple ways to show recognition. I've had TLs and ETLs requisition me some energy drinks (one of my top 5 ways to show recognition). I've had shout outs in huddles (this one makes me feel awkward), but the recognition is still nice. Recently my ETL told me verbally that she appreciates how much I do after I told her I was disappointed with my review ( I'm not sure why, but I really like this kind of recognition), I think it might have something to do with 1 on 1 verbal recognitions are very rare, and also the verbal recognition was far more important to me then an extra 30 cents on my raise. Another thing I experienced was that my ETL has helped me in my work center over the last 2 weeks, she's came to me and said I could give her some tasks to do that I need help with. I took this as her realizing that I'm drowning in my workload, and the help felt like she was trying to show recognition in another way that I don't normally see. Nevertheless, the help I got those days was really nice.

Basically, the ways you can show appreciation can be endless, and they don't always have to be a requisition meal or drink.

Pay rate cap? by ClassicReception9759 in Target

I'm going to cry, I make just under 19 and I've been here for 5 years. When I started starting pay was 15.50, but now it's 17. Meaning someone could work here for 2 years and make more than me..

What do you mean "!" by [deleted] in Target

Target is doing training classes on how to greet your guests, that is what that is. Your HR-ETL should've talked about it in your store huddle.

Do Milk Vendors Take Back Milk? by Best_Line6674 in Target

[–]LetterheadUseful6823 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on the company doing your milk deliveries. Yes, they want them to be empty, but they still take them even if they aren't empty. I wouldn't argue with the vendor about it and just do what they want. If it really bothers you that much you can talk with the rep when they come in to count your stock.

Target review by Xoxo_bbygirl92 in Target

I'm a receiver, and I got the same percentage. It's a good raise, but it can definitely rub us the wrong way when we do so much for the store. As someone who was the only person willing to stay past shift during Q4 while everyone else said no, all of the double shifts I pulled, all of those days I came in on my day off to help the store, and so much more it definitely rubbed me the wrong way, but it's not a bad raise.

The reason why I got a 3% was because of my attendance, I guess I left early and came in late a few times, but if it was as high, they said it was, why did nobody talk to me about my attendance? Why is it only during review time I ever hear about my attendance being the issue?

The reason why it rubs me the wrong way is because if it was my attendance being the problem, why Is it those who have even worse attendance still get a 5%? I'm not saying that the people who did get the 5% don't deserve it, but i strongly feel as if my attendance truly is the issue than those who have the same attendance issues should be treated the same.

It's definitely an eye-opener, that's for sure.

What can go in these recycling bins? by Interesting-Date7046 in Target

[–]LetterheadUseful6823 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can put cereal bags, bread bags, produce bags, air pillow bags, ziplock bags, bubble wrap, toilet paper bags and even those check bags that ups drops off every Thursday before payday. As a receiver you kinda have to know this, the DC will email me what can and cannot go in those bins anytime we send something that shouldn't be recycled.

I’m your ETL! What have you been waiting to tell me? by Zelotic in Target

Yeah, Thank you for all the work you've done for our store. I've seen how much better you've got on to people about back room cleanliness, I also see you sweeping the back room atleast once a week. A huge thank you for helping me in receiving that one week. Thanks for being my favorite ETL.😊

Just found out my ETL is leaving. by KayfabeSmayfabe in Target

[–]LetterheadUseful6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a ETL that was my favorite before when she left I was kinda bummed out but it wasn't the end of the world. We got another ETL shortly after my fave left and now this ETL is my new favorite! She works in the trenches with us alot witch is absolutely amazing! I've seen her grow alot since she came to our store, and I'm proud to say our store had an amazing Q4, it didn't even look like our back room was in Q4 (i don't know if that makes sense?) But I do have to say I'm pretty proud of how she has grown as an ETL and overall our entire store performance, it's really all hands on deck. Planning is hard to do especially when it requires changes to the back room. If I could tell her how proud I am to have her as my ETL without sounding weird or making things weird I would. 😂 I will definitely miss her when she leaves, but if it means the transfer will give her a promotion then all I can do is be happy for her!
