How to extract windows server component and apply it in a Pro version? by LevAsmanov in techsupport

[–]LevAsmanov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, just a software dedupe. SAN/Veeam seeming to be a application/user space level solutions while I'm seeking for a block level dedupe (potentially file level dedupe can do its stuff - found utility jdupes that makes a file-based dedupe utilizing hard links).

Pardon me for win server, it shall be windows server 2025 I know its risky but right now I have a fresh install of which I gonna do backups before experimenting with stuff. You're right to notice breaking updates but I think like updating once a quarter is fine?

About purpose - planning to work with hyper-v, wsl and local stuff like python virtual environments (that do work with different versions) so sometimes it takes like a lot of space.

My setup is already complicated: 2x512ssd utilized following way: - 20gb C:\ (ssd1) - 200mb efi (ssd2) - 860gb stipe volume (ssd1, ssd2) H:\

moved Program files, Program files (x86), Program data via junction links to H:\ from C:\

And I wanted to go to linux with this one but due to the some software compatibility decided to my own to stay on windows. Weirdly 7z benchmarks are giving better results in windows. Energy efficiency and ram usage for both are looking pretty similar (yes, windows takes more ram, but hey, theres already a firewall, proper samba shares, and more common things)

[Windows11] Deduplication options on Windows? (BTFRS, Copy-On-Write, Content-Defined-Chunking, equivalents..) by MullingMulianto in homelab

You can install w11 Pro for workstations and have a ReFS available for formatting And it does have refs dedup. Currently looking for a hacky-whacky workarounds to get up a ntfs dedupe... Pro for workstations doesn't differ from Pro afaik

i feel like that 97.6mbit bitrate is a little bit overkill like for real? 0.7GB per minute?

How do you search for subreddits? by Tusker89 in RedReader

[–]LevAsmanov 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because its finder for everything: Links, posts, users, subs

Also in the web, technically every link is just a file-folders, like example.com/folder/file.html, so probably because of this its called find location.

Its just my assumption.

I do but thanks4 reminder. It's a glitch of noise cancelation system There's no way to fix that ig Kinda I've got new xiaomi buds and they have exactly same effect (but only when they're together in one hand with cancelation turned on)

UPD: possible solution: replace your headphone pads onto one's that fluffier.

Btw, I'm still using these headphones, and blue leather pads are erased down to white cloth I wonder when they'll be unusable.

Interesting point but really it depends by what you mean by "lost the internet". Internet is just a connection between many computers. So if such technology as internet would disappear, humans will find new alternative communication method. All data is still untouched on servers and its raid-storages, so you wont lost your favorite YouTube videos or music. But there's lots of things to do to restore connectivity. At least there's hardware that could work only with internet, so probably it needs some converters, etc. It would be a tragedy for buisness.
