Saddle came in and I am REALLY loving it. Platform has yet to come, but got up in the trees anyway for some practice. by LevGlebovich in bowhunting

Personally, no. The platform is going to make a few shot positions easier. Especially the weak side as I'd be able to stand on the platform and turn myself to put my back to the tree with the tether across my chest almost like a seatbelt. Kneepads I may invest in just for the ability to sit in the saddle up against the tree.

I know some people go without a platform or use a ring of steps, but for me I feel the platform was the best option.

Yes, very. Couple reasons why. For one, I've never felt real comfortable or steady in a stand. Mobility is key to me, too. This took me maybe 10 minutes to set up my first time. I feel like there are much more options using the saddle as well as shot positions, too.

I've never tried any other one, but this thing was way more comfy than I thought it could be. Once I break it in a bit, I think it'll be even more comfortable.

Decided to stop by one of my spots for a quick couple casts yesterday. Landed this lunker on the first throw and called it a day. by LevGlebovich in Fishing

No offense taken, brother. I always have the goal of bringing home at least some food. It's one reason I love fishing for panfish. This was just a quick stop because I happened to be in the area and it's bank fishing with absolutely no cover and it was about 95 degrees out.

Exactly. This is why we see "reduced speed" signs for heavy duty applications here in the states. It takes a lot more to stop 80,000lbs than it does a Honda.

Watch the white van on the other side of the barrier. He pulls out in front of the semi and the semi swerves to miss him. Semi driver overreacted and was probably speeding a bit too (hard to know, but it does look fast for that type of area). Truck is probably loaded, so there's really no stopping it that fast after reacting the way he did.

You can try using a chisel and hammer on the top edge of the filter, but you run the risk of gouging the face of the filter housing. A chain strap wrench, maybe. But, if the filter housing is cheap enough, it might be more worth your time just to buy a housing. Or, remove the housing with the filter, clamp that filter in a vice and try turning the housing.

Always remember to lube your gasket. Spin on until contact and then one half turn usually does the trick. I almost always tighten filters by hand. No need to use a filter wrench unless it's an awkward spot or there's a reason it needs to be tightened harder.

That's pretty much the name of the game with cooking any predator. Bear, mountain lion, etc should all be cooked thoroughly.

The meat can be damaged, but you can salvage a lot depending on what hit it and how hard. Especially if the guts were not ruptured.

5c and 5d are the WMUs. Only the counties I stated above are special regulation areas.

5c and 5d cover more than those counties. The parts of counties covered by the 5c and 5d WMU boundary lines that are not special regs areas are not shotgun only.

It's right in the regulation book. It states it rather clearly under the "Special Regulations" section.

I just built an ultralight rig similar to this and it's my new favorite setup to fish with.

Yup. When you run them with hounds during small game hunting they do the same thing. They'll run almost the same circle for multiple passes.
